Fun Fact: When Rick Riordan was selling the film rights to The Lightning Thief, he had to choose between Fox and Nickelodeon. He went with Fox, but it is fun to wonder what a Nickelodeon Lightning Thief would have been like.
The funny thing is that I remember the "Back at the Barnyard" show a lot more than the movie itself. Even watching the movie for the first time when I was 13 made me think "Okay, so it's Lion King but with barn animals."
I remember one semester at the art institute I was told an interesting fact about Barnyard. Apparently the director who was working on the movie was at one point gonna direct the movie Titanic, bur denied the offer because he thought the idea of making a movie based on the titanic was a bad idea. He was proven wrong and was apparently blacklisted, or at least couldn’t get any decent work until Barnyard. Details are a it fuzzy but thats what me and the class at the time were told.
Legendary Cast I really want a compilation of these types of moments. Pan is such an awkward guy that there’s probably tons of conversations like this that are overlooked
@@a_jonathan4140 I remember pan replying to a person that he wanted to do a Best Pan Pizza moments video to include these lets play scenes. no delivery on that
For Barnyard, I met the writer/director Steve odenkirk and Otis's voice Chris Hardwick in my first Comic Con in 2008, it was pretty good. I definitely remembered the hyping up of Charlotte's web, though I haven't seen it as of yet.
The weirdest thing about the Spiderwick movie that their was a McDonald’s happy meal tie in., I had figure of one of those flower sprite things from that.
I remember for either this movie or Series of Unfortunate Events had a tie in with lunchables that had you solve some cyphers on the package to win something like movie tickets or money(?) I only remembered it because of this
A bit of a correction during the Barnyard segment, The Ant Bully wasn't produced by O Entertainment, it was produced by DNA Productions, which several members went to O Entertainment to form Omation Animation Studios, who was the company that animated Barnyard under O Entertainment, following DNA Productions shutting down in 2006.
I actually like Barnyard the movie more than Barnyard the show because Barnyard the show feels like some bizarre attempt at a spinoff that just didn't land for me.
And wasn't the point of the movie for Otis to be more responsible while the show just throws that to the side, kinda removing the good will Ben did for the farm?
Yah Back at the Barnyard was very non- episodic and thus had very little long term consequences. I do remember the show having a lot of good comedy though, which to be fair was largely the point of the show.
I remember going to our local drive in when Barnyard and Nacho came out; they were shown together in a double feature, as tradition dictates at that drive in. I’ve seen Nacho Libre many times since then, Barnyard not so much lol
Spiderwick Chronicles used to scare the shit out of me, that scene at the end where the dad suddenly returns and asks to see the book is extremely tense and sursprisigly violent
Same. Just watch we will forget that he’s making these nick movies videos and all of a sudden he will upload. Hey I’m not complaining I love it when pan uploads a new video! :)
I remember reading somewhere that Dagg being skinny while the other wolves are more plump implies that Dagg kills the hens purely out of enjoyment rather than to survive, which makes his character even creepier if it's true and makes his keychain of chicken talons make more sense.
In case if no one told you, Steve Oedekerk did NOT work on The Ant Bully, it was DNA Animation, an animation studio that made Jimmy Neutron and Santa Vs. The Snowman. I doubt DNA had involvement with Barnyard.
dude I've been trying to recall the spiderwick chronicles for so long but all I could remember was the troll guy spitting in the kid's eye and the granny being nice
the scene where ben sings wont back down gives me chills every fucking time and it pisses me off because its the same movie that has "THAT'S CALLED *BoY tIpPiNg*" in it. i agree its an alright movie, just upset that that scene always gets me considering 90% of the rest of the movie lmao
I had a film professor who was obsessed with the Spiderwick Chronicles movie. I've never seen it, I need to. We would be discussing movies like Capote or The Master and he would just start talking about something great he saw in the Spiderwick Chronicles.
It makes sense they cut out most of the fourth Spiderwick Chronicles book, it’s a mostly pointless detour involving dwarfs that’s only major thing is showing Mulgerwrath is watching Jared closely whenever he’s outside the circle and vulnerable
I really like the atmosphere in Spiderwick. I grew up in a farmhouse and I loved to go to the woods and hunt for bugs and tadpoles and the like, imagining there was a magic world out there. it really captures that childlike sense of wonder for me... even if it's not that great a movie.
I remeber The Spiderwick Chronicles actually scared the shit out of me as a kid. I had an over active imagination and would think the things I saw movies or other fiction were real and would come to get me at night. I still do, but now its mostly regulated to earthquakes and being a failure.
IDK I feel like getting an actual corn cob covered in spice shoved straight through your eye socket was far more intimidating than if it were the actual knife that was thrown. 2:35
I remember I was in third or fourth grade when my class went to see Charlotte's Web (because we happened to be reading the book in school). At that time, I was terrified of going to the theater because it was dark, loud, and flashy, and the trailers sometimes creeped me out. My teacher had to convince me to join with the class, and I remember seeing a promo with the frogs from Meet the Robinsons. It actually turned out quite well and I enjoyed the movie, though I don't think I've watched it since.
2:54 I don't think it's just you; For some reason in 2005 and 2006, most visual media had a sudden excess of orange in their palettes, this film included. Like the Through the Fire and Flames music video, some of APC's "Silence is Golden" blue ballers, and a notable amount of live-action films that I never really paid any attention to.
I remember going to the theater to see Spiderwick and loving it. Years later I couldn't find it again and always got it confused with Bridge to Terabithia since it has a foresty setting with kid protagonists and a mystical title and then then I later found that that movie is about a girl dying and still couldn't find what this movie was... Until now.
I actually had pretty bad arachnophobia as a kid (still do) but for some reason live action charlotte never freaked me out. I got way more freaked by the flying spider babies at the end.
Hi Pan I’ve been a fan of yours for ages because of the amount of research and work you put into your videos but just wanted to say thanks for your recent videos because they’re some of my favourites and this series has been an awesome nostalgia trip for me!!!

Fun Fact: When Rick Riordan was selling the film rights to The Lightning Thief, he had to choose between Fox and Nickelodeon. He went with Fox, but it is fun to wonder what a Nickelodeon Lightning Thief would have been like.
Nacho Libre (Next to Kung Fu Panda) is one of Jack Black's Best fllms he's ever done. Dude had his PSP stolen to make that film.
And Haylie Duff lost her dog to make Napoleon Dynamite. Jared Hess films are dangerous.
What about King Kong (2005)?
The funny thing is that I remember the "Back at the Barnyard" show a lot more than the movie itself. Even watching the movie for the first time when I was 13 made me think "Okay, so it's Lion King but with barn animals."
Same
Shame on you Barnyard is the Bible
I remember the one with Geraldo Rivera* and my dad laughed at that episode for the TV repair pig, man joke and the blowdart joke.
*Or a parody off
I loved the Bigfoot episodes for some reason
The girl in Charlotte's Web is such a non-entity that I've seen both movies AND read the book and I couldn't tell you what her name is.
Name?! What are you talking about? Her name is “Thea Gurl”.
Fern
I never knew there was a real life priest who was a secret wrestler. That’s pretty badass! ^^
Right
I like how quotable Nacho libre was
All the white kids were quoting Napoleon dynamite and we Mexicans would quote nacho libre
My dad and I quote Nacho Libré to each other ever since the movie came out
Especially the "stretchy pants" one lol
To this day when we're talking money I'll say "How much is that in tacos?" and nobody but me understands the reference. Their loss I guess.

Ben’s death in Barnyard was the first time a film ever made me cry. And I was bothered how the tv spin off seemed to have Otis regress
And his voice actor changed, Daisy and her newborn baby were replaced with Abby, and Miles the Mule just disappeared.
13:09 The return of the “played by Steve Buscemi” joke
It never goes away
Freddie Highmore turning into AVGN caught me off guard and made me laugh way more than i should have
I remember one semester at the art institute I was told an interesting fact about Barnyard.
You talking the James Cameron directed Titanic or those animated ones?
FINALLY, NACHO LIBRE GETS THE RESPECT IT DESERVES

@@NotFerb98 Just watched it. It's wonderfully pathetic. Thanks
@@a_jonathan4140 I demand and update. These feel like great ARG material or a WWE storyline gone wrong.
Wait, you meet those two? Great!
It was a good movie.
“Finally, a movie I wished the Spanish teacher would play when the Selena DVD was scratched up.” UNDER-APPRECIATED LINE
Yea lucky me. I’ve seen the movie about three times now.
Ours would play Labamba
Ours never played Selena, most of the students are Latino, so it’s assumed you’ve already seen it lol
Nacho Libre could've easily defeated Thanos without even breaking a sweat.

Charlotte's death in the animated film is still one of the saddest things I've ever watched and I haven't seen it in 20 years.

The weirdest thing about the Spiderwick movie that their was a McDonald’s happy meal tie in., I had figure of one of those flower sprite things from that.
I remember that, it's the only reason why I remembered this movie existed
Literally same
I had the little green goblin man
I remember for either this movie or Series of Unfortunate Events had a tie in with lunchables that had you solve some cyphers on the package to win something like movie tickets or money(?) I only remembered it because of this
A bit of a correction during the Barnyard segment, The Ant Bully wasn't produced by O Entertainment, it was produced by DNA Productions, which several members went to O Entertainment to form Omation Animation Studios, who was the company that animated Barnyard under O Entertainment, following DNA Productions shutting down in 2006.
I remember seeing barnyard in theaters and crying so hysterically for no reason that my dad pulled me out of theater and into the lobby
@@ManaAdvent Yes.
@Katie Lewis Hell, the only thing I can remember about the series is one sheep avoiding shearing and the sheep are all zombie-like towards him.
Yah Back at the Barnyard was very non- episodic and thus had very little long term consequences. I do remember the show having a lot of good comedy though, which to be fair was largely the point of the show.
@Katie Lewis I need to rewatch the Rugrats movies.
I saw the video notification while I was driving, so far the video is pretty goo....
RIP
(Slow version of "Turn Down For What" plays)
I remember going to our local drive in when Barnyard and Nacho came out; they were shown together in a double feature, as tradition dictates at that drive in. I’ve seen Nacho Libre many times since then, Barnyard not so much lol
The only reasons why people still remember the Barnyard movie is because of Biggie Cheese and Ben the Cow.
14:55 “Everybody looks like a Scooby Doo suspect” Jesus Christ...
Spiderwick Chronicles used to scare the shit out of me, that scene at the end where the dad suddenly returns and asks to see the book is extremely tense and sursprisigly violent
Holy shit I forgot that Pan was reviewing Nick movies

I saw it more as the era where Paramount is like "Another family/animated film? Put the Nickelodeon Movie logo on it and call it a day."
Featuring Jack Black and talking male cows with udders
i feel like the “check out my oc” joke was overlooked. shit had me laughing
Back at the Barnyard is basically the ultimate of shitposts
Bruh even though Nacho Libre is a kids movie it’s artistically stunning with the unique camera angles and visual storytelling
Actually the reason some cows had udders was because the creators thought people who didn't grow up on a farm wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
11:43 I don’t know why this part just makes me feel warm

No, that's Captain Caveman
In case if no one told you, Steve Oedekerk did NOT work on The Ant Bully, it was DNA Animation, an animation studio that made Jimmy Neutron and Santa Vs. The Snowman. I doubt DNA had involvement with Barnyard.
dude I've been trying to recall the spiderwick chronicles for so long but all I could remember was the troll guy spitting in the kid's eye and the granny being nice
Playing that song from Charlotte's Web just hit me like a train full of nostalgia.
The only thing I remember from the Spiderwick movie is a scene where the kid stabs a troll disguised as his Dad and his family freaks the fuck out.
the scene where ben sings wont back down gives me chills every fucking time and it pisses me off because its the same movie that has "THAT'S CALLED *BoY tIpPiNg*" in it. i agree its an alright movie, just upset that that scene always gets me considering 90% of the rest of the movie lmao
I had a film professor who was obsessed with the Spiderwick Chronicles movie. I've never seen it, I need to. We would be discussing movies like Capote or The Master and he would just start talking about something great he saw in the Spiderwick Chronicles.
"I'd say it's my favorite Jack Black movie, but _Be Kind, Rewind_ exists."
I see you're a man of culture, too.
It makes sense they cut out most of the fourth Spiderwick Chronicles book, it’s a mostly pointless detour involving dwarfs that’s only major thing is showing Mulgerwrath is watching Jared closely whenever he’s outside the circle and vulnerable
It’s funny you mention the Spanish teacher because my Spanish teacher literally showed me nacho libre in highschool
My High School Italian teacher showed the class the Italian dub of SpiderWick Chronicles.

I really like the atmosphere in Spiderwick. I grew up in a farmhouse and I loved to go to the woods and hunt for bugs and tadpoles and the like, imagining there was a magic world out there. it really captures that childlike sense of wonder for me... even if it's not that great a movie.
11:03 I was seriously expecting Jack Black to go into the Octagon Sesame Street skit when he said "Hey how's it going"
6:05 I think you got your studios mixed up because it was DNA Productions that was killed off because of the Ant Bully, not O Entertainment
I remember having a bootleg of Barnyard 10 years ago, and it had extras that were basically random rap videos.
I remeber The Spiderwick Chronicles actually scared the shit out of me as a kid. I had an over active imagination and would think the things I saw movies or other fiction were real and would come to get me at night. I still do, but now its mostly regulated to earthquakes and being a failure.
Apparently Les Claypool composed a song for Barnyard which is the most bewildering thing in that movie
Nacho Libre is my childhood film. I watched it so many times and it’s still funny every time.
Fun fact: The director of The Spiderwick Chronicles also directed Mean Girls.
He also directed Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past, 500 Days of Summer, Freaky Friday (2003 version) and Bad Santa 2.
@@michaelbolcato192 Wait, he did? Huh.
Edit: He didn't direct 500 Days of Summer.
@Jesse Nathan He produced 500 Days of Summer (it was my mistake).

I got worried Pan wasn't going to upload today, I thought it was either Pan uploads at 4 in the morning or not at all
I remember I was in third or fourth grade when my class went to see Charlotte's Web (because we happened to be reading the book in school).
Cant wait for this revuew series to get completed so I can marathon the whole thing and get a good feel of how nick evolved trough the years
I actually got a Spiderwick McDonalds Toys during a power outage once. It felt kind of...magical.

SlushieOfHats The best review is probably gonna be The Last Airbender. 😂😂😂
I remember the McDonald's Happy Meal toys for The Spiderwick Chronicles than the actual movie.
Until now.
Ben the cows cover of I wont back down is genuinely better than the original
i feel the exact same way. when i was a kid i thought his version was the original because of how good it was, lol.
I actually had pretty bad arachnophobia as a kid (still do) but for some reason live action charlotte never freaked me out. I got way more freaked by the flying spider babies at the end.
Thank you for representing Attack the Block
Hi Pan I’ve been a fan of yours for ages because of the amount of research and work you put into your videos but just wanted to say thanks for your recent videos because they’re some of my favourites and this series has been an awesome nostalgia trip for me!!!
Nacho Libre is a damn masterpiece
I love how similar the opening to Barnyard is to Toy Story. Everyone just comes to life and makes small talk after the humans leave, do a staff meeting and a stunt with a ramp.
