+Mattmann97 sadly ya we have been lied to. it was just a meme the internet made. they took screen cap of a scene of rugrats from season 5 where grandpa lied about being sick and said he got a bug and tommy and the geng over heard him and went to venture to capture the bad bug in grampa pickle stomach. aaah good time... good time...
There was this behind-the-scenes thing on Nick once about Rugrats and the voice actors and one of them said they remember what it was like being a baby and that everybody does and that's why the show is relatable. But like, I don't remember shit about being a baby. I don't think I became completely self-aware until I was around 2 and a half or 3. Everything before that is just blackness. My first moment of realizing I was alive was waking up in the back of a car.
+PaleoSteno I have only one memory of being a baby. Nothing special though, It was just me standing in a crib in the living room while my mom talked to some guests.
"Please stop making Rugrats theory videos" Thank you Pan, if I heard "BABIES ARE DEAD AND ANGELICA IS THE DEVIL WHO CAN SPEAK TO GHOSTS AND ASGHDAKHJADF" one more time I was gonna jump of a bridge.
RANK10YGO That reminds me of the time I read Squidward's Suicide in tandem with the Angelica fan theory and was so struck by the combined edgy awfulness that I ended my own life.
we need an edgy spin off series of rugrats all grown up where they drop out and get into drugs and and get pregnant with the show name being "Rugrats all knocked up"
I mentioned this in another comment, but I always assumed it meant he spewed bullshit (lip shit), supported by the fact that in the one episode we meet him in, he knew absolutely nothing about taking care of babies, and that Deedee, a firm believer in his work, could easily win worst parent for how many awful situations Tommy has been in as a result of her negligence.
+TimmySmidge yep, that was aired back before cartoon network spent most of their time creating new programming, so the vast majority of the channel was reruns of older cartoons.
+Geo Grey reminds of how Sega did that whole "Sega does what Nintendon't" ad campaign back in the 90's and much like Nickelodeon, they too have fallen.
sladikk Yea they both do, hopefully CN changes their logo back or comes with a better one. But now in days many companies are changing their logos from creative ones to stale ones. Look at Verizon, Pepsi and Microsoft for example.
Whoa wait a minute, there were a lot of naughty innuendos in this show and Pan Pizza didn't mention any of them?! Anyone remember "Lonely Space Vixens"? This was one of my favorite Nicktoons but this show was freaking crazy at times with the babies hallucinations, dream sequences and even their imaginations. What were the parents feeding them? And we can all agree that Angelica is one of the most hated kid characters from our nostalgia. Right next to Lucy from Peanuts but way under Eric Cartman
+Redcord CHN I dunno, I liked Angelica (most of the time). I think I related to her... then again... I did grow up into a bitch so that probably wasn't a good thing.
+Redcord CHN I still remember when I rewatched an episode and it had a Deliverance reference, specifically the "make you squeal like a pig" line. Just wow.
+Redcord CHN How old were the rugrats again? Because i've heard that newborn babies up to 2-year olds have very "Hallucinatory" visions when they're young. People say its basically like you're doing drugs and the world around you is turning into scary things, if thats the case its not surprising they had all those hallucinations.
"Rugrats" is one of those very special series that comes along only once in a long while. When they tried to continue the characters' story in the spin-off/sequel series "All Growed Up", it was missing a lot of the charm of the original series for one very important reason: The unique perspective was gone. While "Rugrats" took the very unusual path of showing us a baby's-eye view of the world and contrasting it occasionally with the adults' interpretation of their children and the world around them as well, "All Growed Up" took the usual slice-of-life kids' cartoon point-of-view of your typical 10-14-year-old kid that we've seen a million times before. This is why the spin-off/sequel series is so forgettable while the original sticks in your head like a wad of gum in your pigtails. "Rugrats" just did that very early phase of life so well--not turning the kids into very short adults or treating them like cuteness-factor props or pre-verbal annoyances like most shows, movies, and even games do...but as curious little people with big imaginations who are still figuring out how the world works. That's where the magic, whimsy, and irresistible charm of this series all come from...That, and the art style, which is weird and a bit scribbly, but still has a ton of visual appeal.
RyuTora2808 I think Disney’s Recess carries the spirit of All Growed Up better since both shows were co-created by Paul Germain and both have similar characters with similar personalities(TJ is Tommy,Gus being Chuckie, and Randall and Mrs.Finster being Angelica. It also switches the playpen setting to a playground setting and the show dealt with real-life issues like Rugrats did such as death, stealing, severe punishments, and relationships.

+Salokin Sekwah Most early Nick shows were, honestly. Even Spongebob is a strange concept if you look at it detached from the lens of ubiquity and overplay.
It's pretty crazy because I haven't watched this show in well over 10 years, but I use to watch it so often that I seem to have associated a feeling with each of the (especially earlier) episodes, and those feelings are coming at me and slapping me in the face every time a new clip is played. It feels kind of like catching the lightest whiff of something and immediately having memories of that smell flood your brain. This is honestly nostalgia on a level I've never experienced before. I suppose I'm gonna have to go back and watch the 9 freakin' seasons of this show. Dat nostalgia drug is addicting.
The episode with Angelica's little brother.... I had blocked it from memory until watching this video. Now that it's back, it may top the mummy from Courage the Cowardly Dog as the most traumatizing thing in my childhood.
Honestly, the babies escaping every episode isn’t too unrealistic because when I was a baby I escaped to 7/11 when the front door had like 20 locks on it and my family found me inside someone truck with 2 random dudes

+Jonny Boy Rebeltaxi is actually gonna review My Life as a Teenage Robot by a request from a Patreon supporter. Check his Patreon account in the description if you don't believe me.
Early 25th anniversary wishes to "Rugrats", and Nicktoons in general! While "Ren & Stimpy" has been my favorite of the original three for five years, "Rugrats" has always been a Nicktoon that I loved as a kid, though nowhere near as much as "SpongeBob", "Fairly OddParents", or "CatDog". I probably find the movies a little more memorable than the show itself. And that visual gag seen at the beginning of "Chanukah" was one that I never got! Thanks for pointing it out! Oh, and your "B!%@# Got Told by Ginger" joke was hilarious! :D Speaking of which, I'm surprised that the Pizza Party Podcast hasn't talked about the reboot rumors! And thank you for pronouncing Klasky Csupo correctly this time!
I went to a gallery show of Mark Mothersbaugh's art a few weeks back. Some of the doodles reflect his work on Rugrats (one small picture was clearly a distored Tommy Pickles staring at a bottle of booze.)
I could never forget the skeleton in the post office, but I completely forgot about the other realistic content from the show such as the kidnappers and even the time machine; those were not even imaginary, so they just appear out-of-place in the nature of the show.
Pan i honestly feel this is your best review so far it didn't have as many jokes but your explanation and the amount of episodes you covered was great, as well as how much you knew the little quirks of the show.
Even though this may not have been the exact sound used in the Rugrats, the Sound font "Boy Band" very closely resembles the soundtrack from the rugrats, so an earlier version may have been used. If you don't know what a sound font is, essentially its a sound you can assign to a midi file to change how it sounds, much like how you would change the font on text to alter how it looks. There aren't many official songs that use boyband, as it's the comic sans of sound fonts, but the track "Temmie Village" from the Undertale OST uses it.
I think Blue's Clues did a big episode where Steve and Blue just went to everyone's houses and, for some reason, everyone on the block celebrated a different holiday on the same day. It may have just covered Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas, though.
For the show: "The music isn't available anywhere..." but for the movies, they are everywhere thanks to Interscope, Maverick and Disney's Hollywood Records but that's a different story anyway.
14:03 Wow Nickelodeon being savage to Cartoon Network lol. All in all though, the first 3 seasons of Rugrats were the best. Many people say the show went downhill after the first movie with Dil but to me it went downhill when they bought back the show in 1997 with the 4th season. The new writers and animation style just looked too cutesy and lame. The first 3 seasons just had a whole different tone altogether that they tried to bring back for the first movie but just didn't work out. A lot of the surrealism just left the series when Paul Germain left the show. From season 4 to the end of the series, it just felt like a Nick Jr show
"If newborn babies could speak they would be the most intelligent being on the earth" - Jaden Smith He probably misinterpreted a phrase from an anime called "The Perfect Insider"
The nostalgia is real. I remember The Search for Reptar Game for PS1 my mom just threw at me to keep me distracted . The sewer level as Spike was surprisingly the stuff of nightmares and the deaths were as dark as a horror game.
When I was 6 I went to Klasky Csupo studios because my dad was working there. It was really cool. There were a lot of kids choice awards and I even met one of the creators of rugrats (Klasky)
Rugrats is kinda overrated in my book. But, it does have a novelty to it and I wouldn't bash it unlike the Fairly Oddparents because at least Rugrats is innocent and harmless and not loud, repetative, unfunny, stupid, cruel, and mean spirited like FOP.
Yeah, TBH Fairly Oddparents has just not been that great of a show as its gone on. I'm surprised they're still making new seasons. I don't think that fans of Nickelodeon are clamoring for more and more FOP, when I've noticed that most still wish they'd bring back Hey Arnold since that show's fan-following was pretty strong.
Nightman221k I'm still working on trying see why people like Fairly Oddparents despite on how problematic it is, what the appeal is, and why does it deserve to stay for this long. All I've gotten was an interesting and original imaginative concept, in the older episodes the voice acting is not as loud and annoying, the characters have a heart, although it dies have hiccups with it amounts of cuelty, Tiimmy Turner's problems are something that anyone can relate to, for the most, and while the repetative gags are there, they're mostly a minor issue and not to a major extent compared to the newer episodes where they become the main focus for comedy, and I think after doing some research, the writing and jokes. The writing and jokes were so well written, unlike the newer episodes, that people didn't bother with the formula plots, mean spirited moments, or the repetative gags. It's just like my experience with Jimmy Neutron and I love this show like crazy. The flaws feel minor and small because the writing and jokes are solid and well written that people didn't care about the problems. But, that's my theory. Anyway, no matter how many people I encounter on why FOP as a whole has appeal, it's one of those shows I'm never revisiting again. I might look at the Oh Yeah Cartoons shorts someday since it feels like a different show. But as of now, my heart is two sizes small for me to care about Fairly Oddparents as a whole.
+Nightman221k It seems like just about every show got worse as it went on. I mean look at Rugrats, Spongebob ,Fairly Oddparents, The Simpsons, Family Guy, ect. The only show I can think of that didn't drop in quality as time went on was Hey Arnold.
***** Yeah, and the stuff with magnificent potential seems to inevitably get short runs intentionally (Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall) or gets cut short by idiots in charge before they were ready (The Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice, Sonic SatAM)
+LagginPotato Arnold also decayed a bit in its last two seasons. Not as badly as Spongebob, of course, but you still see a lot of episodes repeating earlier stories, and they could have used the last budget of the final season to produce a TV special about Arnold's parents, instead using it all for rather fillerish episodes that didn't tell us anything new.
They even used a Rugrats-esque background music for a Frosty the Snowman cartoon back in the 90s. Not surprising since I think Mark Mothersbaugh also composed the music for that cartoon.
Hopefully in part 2 you talk more about Tommy's ugo brother that he almost murdered and Chucky's "Little Sister Can't Possibly Be This Cute".... I wish they went there
Proud family had a Kwanzaa special I remember. On that note I'd like to see a review of Proud Family one day, I don't see it get mentioned often enough. I don't remember much of the show but for some reason the exchange student episode always sticks out in my mind. I guess it was one of my first exposures to other cultures as a kid. Plus the So Dysfunctional song has been stuck in my head for over a decade. I find myself singing it at random times.
i havent seen rugrats since my VERY early childhood because that was around the time it was finally ending but ive been watching it lately because my little brother really loves it. i think they tried really hard to make sure it was enjoyable for the more grown audiences, the adults plots in the episodes are usually pretty entertaining.
That clip at the beginning terrified me as a child and I had an adverse reaction to seeing it again as a 27 year old. I'd totally forgotten about it but the fear it gave me came flooding back when I saw it again
I Fucking love pans videos his passion shows through the way he edits the show to the way he talks about the aspects of said show been watching for a long time haven't not enjoyed one video
The grown up stories were the best ones! Grandpa Pickles was definitely a favorite of mine! Lou is the master of old person wit. I had to show my appreciation with my own Hey Arnold tribute video (on my channel). Old Nicktoons filled my silliness quota back in the day, while Cartoon Cartoons provided the "sophisticated animation" feel with their cartoons. P.S. It took me FIF-TEEN seconds to feel an emotional connection with this video. RebelTaxi is the bomb. It's a Rugrats Rap!! P.P.S.: S1-S3 were the best seasons.
+QueenOfAll i googled and it said "a child not yet old enough for school" and now I'm curious to know the origin of the word. wasting time is so much fun.
RebelTaxi you know the story: despite having weird innocence, babies go out on adventures for fun, mischief, and imagination with some that one of them fearfully doesn't wanna take part, trying to have good days against a secretly bratty older girl who bullies them.
+RebelTaxi :'c yeah its pretty bullshitty when videos like Nichole arbor's hatefull fat shaming video gets 10 million views when i see channels that legit put thought and hard editing get nothing in return. like i saw a god damn syndicate project house tour with like 4 million, with little to nothing of substance
+Pizzafromchina Fox_Box That was a hoax created by an infamous troll in the '90s Nickelodeon community called "21 Jumbo Street". Somehow the article he wrote on MoviePilot had trended, which lead people into thinking it was true when in reality, it was false. Jean Yoo, who's the director of press for Nickelodeon's West Coast area had confirmed to Seventeen Magazine that it wasn't true: www.seventeen.com/celebrity/movies-tv/news/a37143/attention-nickelodeons-as-told-by-ginger-is-officially-coming-back-to-tv/
I remember one morning when I was watching this show before school, my mom pointed out the art style. Never noticed it until she pointed it out. I quite like the art.
You know what I kind of want. Either a 1 hour special or 1 season mini series of the kids of the original babies. Like they all grew up and had kids of their own. It would be like the Boruto of Nickelodeon.

14:03 Did Nick just make a jab against Cartoon Network?
I've been a subscriber since 2012 and i still love this channel i cant wait until the end of each month now Thank You Rebel
Fun Fact: The voice actor for Drew Pickles also voices Quackerjack in Darkwing Duck, so I suppose Lou raised two crazy ass toy makers.
4:29 THAT FACE SCARED ME AS A KID
14:03 Wow Nickelodeon being savage to Cartoon Network lol. All in all though, the first 3 seasons of Rugrats were the best. Many people say the show went downhill after the first movie with Dil but to me it went downhill when they bought back the show in 1997 with the 4th season. The new writers and animation style just looked too cutesy and lame. The first 3 seasons just had a whole different tone altogether that they tried to bring back for the first movie but just didn't work out. A lot of the surrealism just left the series when Paul Germain left the show. From season 4 to the end of the series, it just felt like a Nick Jr show
I love all the old Nick bumpers and commercials. They don't make em' like that anymore.
"If newborn babies could speak they would be the most intelligent being on the earth" - Jaden Smith
He probably misinterpreted a phrase from an anime called "The Perfect Insider"
The nostalgia is real. I remember The Search for Reptar Game for PS1 my mom just threw at me to keep me distracted . The sewer level as Spike was surprisingly the stuff of nightmares and the deaths were as dark as a horror game.
When I was 6 I went to Klasky Csupo studios because my dad was working there. It was really cool. There were a lot of kids choice awards and I even met one of the creators of rugrats (Klasky)
lucky you
Venom3254 yus
Nightman221k
I'm still working on trying see why people like Fairly Oddparents despite on how problematic it is, what the appeal is, and why does it deserve to stay for this long.
I wish they went there
that quaker mascot is such a historical pirate, so nobody can fear historical pirates. pirates are warriors
I think I speak for all of us when I say the Rugrats theme song is one of the most recognizable Nicktoons theme songs ever.
When I was little I thought that Spongebob was a piece of cheese.
i havent seen rugrats since my VERY early childhood because that was around the time it was finally ending but ive been watching it lately because my little brother really loves it. i think they tried really hard to make sure it was enjoyable for the more grown audiences, the adults plots in the episodes are usually pretty entertaining.
Stu: "YOU'RE an absurd proposition!"
Me: Well, THAT'S mature.
Did you know the pilot and the TV Intro was animated and directed by the same person who did MTV’s Aeon Flux,Peter Chung?
Rugrats was one of favorite Nicktoons. Next to Ren & Stimpy, Doug and Rocko's Modern Life. 😄
11:24 I thought that sentence was gonna go somewhere completely different for a second
8:16 Godzilla vs Kong
Oh man, this took me way back as a kid in the early 90s. Especially with those old ass commerical bumpers! Thanks Pan!
13:53
"their caroons"
we all know its cartoon network.
That clip at the beginning terrified me as a child and I had an adverse reaction to seeing it again as a 27 year old. I'd totally forgotten about it but the fear it gave me came flooding back when I saw it again
Hey rebeltaxi... Your mom...
OHhhhh SHIT!!!
SAVAGE
+InsertsInsanity -Gaming prank gone sexually sexual

+bradlie1 I thought Kira was hot. Am I the only one?
The 10-up Studios true, but some of us like a brash, motivated but strong-headed type :)
Dude honestly you deserve more subscribers and you make good content.
I'm pretty sure that Klasky and Csupo got divorced
Scootakip Nice profile picture.
OstrichesAndGin thanks
Scootakip Really?
Scootakip really?
Yes
Whoa whoa whoa...I didn't know the composer for Crash Bandicoot's music was also the front-man of Devo. That's awesome!
No mention of all grown up?
+Robosaurus This video would have been gone much much longer had I did that. Someday
+RebelTaxi Will you ever do the Video Now review?
+Cameron Jones Oh man, I remember that thing. xD Good times.
Hi Pan-pizza the RebelTaxi driver.
+RebelTaxi also no mention of Pre-School Daze . That would've made the video 10 seconds longer.
"Why are you making chocolate pudding at 4 o'clock in the morning". " because I've lost control of my life "... I feel ya Stu.
Anyone else have the Rugrats PS1 game? I remember the angry goose being a boss battle or something.
+BlazeHeatnix - Definitive Dubs A long time ago I did review it. It's still on my RUclips Channel
Oh god I didn't even know you did. I just found that deep in the bowels of your channel.
+RebelTaxi Quick question while u are still checking comments, could you review the Dexter's Lab Episode "Aye Aye Eyes" ?
+BlazeHeatnix - Definitive Dubs Still got that game, never finished it.
+RebelTaxi can you do a video of the grown up rug rats show
Angelica's hypothetical baby brother scared the shit out of me as a kid. Even as an adult, he's pretty unnerving.
Fucking A, thank you for doing my childhood.
I Fucking love pans videos his passion shows through the way he edits the show to the way he talks about the aspects of said show been watching for a long time haven't not enjoyed one video
14:03 shots fired at cn
Why didn't Pan mention the Mother's Day episode? It's one of the saddest moments in the series.
+Nyanpire The Cat I thought it be best to save it when I discuss Rugrats in Paris
RebelTaxi
I'm so looking forward to it. I hope you mention the death of Christine Cavanugh (The original voice of Chucky).
+Nyanpire The Cat Dude, spoilers. I haven't gotten to that part of life yet.
+Excaviliar Well then catch up dude by binge living.
I like how you actually "cut to commercial" in your videos
Hey i'm just wondering...what does rugrats mean? (the word, not the show)
+QueenOfAll I think it means babies
+QueenOfAll
i googled and it said "a child not yet old enough for school" and now I'm curious to know the origin of the word. wasting time is so much fun.
Abu Hazraen I think it comes from the fact the toddlers like to crawl around over the rug, like rats
+John Reviews (johnthguy)
really? why rats? than I'm surprise that rugcat or rugpup didn't caught on XD.
Abu Hazraen I don't know
RebelTaxi you know the story: despite having weird innocence, babies go out on adventures for fun, mischief, and imagination with some that one of them fearfully doesn't wanna take part, trying to have good days against a secretly bratty older girl who bullies them.
did rebel taxi lose subscribers? i thought he had over 300,000
+pappas nick I never had that many
+RebelTaxi You deserve it though.
+Jace Hackworth Fuck you he deserves more than 300000 subs
+RebelTaxi :'c yeah its pretty bullshitty when videos like Nichole arbor's hatefull fat shaming video gets 10 million views when i see channels that legit put thought and hard editing get nothing in return. like i saw a god damn syndicate project house tour with like 4 million, with little to nothing of substance
wait wot
this makes me want to go back and rewatch the cartoon.
Speaking of "As Told by Ginger", their bringing it back for 2017... Why did anyone ask for it? I don't remember anyone asking for it.
+Pizzafromchina Fox_Box It's a really underrated show
+Pizzafromchina Fox_Box That was a hoax created by an infamous troll in the '90s Nickelodeon community called "21 Jumbo Street".
+CandyFlynnFanatic95 , Thank the heavens
You have earned youself a sub for I watched this when I was a kid and loved it.
If you didn't mention the quote jaden smith would still be funny
I remember one morning when I was watching this show before school, my mom pointed out the art style. Never noticed it until she pointed it out.
I quite like the art.
Ronald thump= Donald trump
+Zeh Cobra *gasp* ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED!
You can't compare him with anything
+tobanga feufeu They are both rich people so why not?
+Zeh Cobra XD
+Zeh Cobra Well at least the ransom was a small loan of a million dollars.
You know what I kind of want. Either a 1 hour special or 1 season mini series of the kids of the original babies. Like they all grew up and had kids of their own. It would be like the Boruto of Nickelodeon.
