Born and raised in Detroit. My father saw the writing on the wall and left for the far suburbs back in the 60's. We never suffered from any serious crimes in over 60 years but we had a friend get shot in the face during an armed robbery of his catering truck, another friend shot in the gut by an armed robber at an ATM (he survived) and my best friends grandmother murdered by a young thug during a house invasion living across the street. All in Detroit. My advice: get out of the city.

Nearly all the big cities are run by Democrats, with Leftist DAs and/or police chiefs who all seem to favor criminals over regular citizens. They've learned to sound caring and promise solutions, but do NOTHING to solve anything. Problems get bad... they sound caring & promise more, and get reelected. Unending cycle til we are at this point.
I think they also figured out that reasonable people will flee the cities, leaving behind an even bluer (Democrat-er) city... which solidifies their power base. Over time, as in Chicago, they get continual power. Add corruption and questionable elections, and they NEVER have to change. Chicago's been run by Democrats for **90 YEARS**. Dems don't solve problems because they know they are guaranteed to keep power. Recently.. we have Lightfoot getting voted out, only to get an even more radical and marxist mayor.

Those professional politicians would rather gain political points, push an agenda and exert control by taking away law-abiding citizens' right to defend themselves than actually perform effective work by the will of the people. It's outright outrageous what they think they can get away with and what they _HAVE_ gotten away with. The people need to wake up and vote them out or they're just gonna see how bad it's getting, move away and turn their new state's color from red to blue without realizing why they moved there in the first place. Look at Texas now.

Its at that point she had the chance to make a decision. I know when working on the Southside of Chicago, especially later in evening, you will notice people making eye contact with you, those are the wolves and they are just waiting for an opportunity, like leaving your car door unlocked or some other vulnerable situation. Its unfortunate, but women especially need to notice when being bird dogged.
