Thanks Persolaise. Really appreciate Cool Water actually getting a positive review, I have worn it since the 90’s although not my everyday day go to now. I hear it is a shadow of its former self however I have not really noticed the change over the years. You are right about that slight harshness but for me it is such a strong scent memory I can’t imagine ever wanting to be without a bottle!
Rich Mitch is the nicest guy in fragcomm 👏👏👏Watched a great stream from Eugens channel where Eugene and Rich Mitch interviewed Gabe & it was a fantastic interview...on a side note I finally caved and started a fragrance channel a few weeks back as many people have told me I should over the years .. i dont know fancy graphics and cutting the video and stuff like that so I am basically just turning on the camera & talking but I would still love your feedback as I trust and respect you & your channel. Cheers and cant wait for the oppenhiem interview. 🍻😊
Looking for a bottle of Davidoff Zino in the Lancaster bottle. Why, well I have TF's Beau de Jour and I enjoy it. So why would I want something similar to what I have already? Because I do. Can't what Bourdon special. As always, thank you for all you do here on RUclips.
Iris Poudre is probably among my top three favourite fragrances. I got it as a gift from my mum last year when we went to our local perfumery and asked about L'Eau d'Hiver. I told the sales assistant that iris interested me as a note and she recommended that I try Iris Poudre. A great experience because that person definitely had her own taste and didn't shy away from saying which fragrances she liked and which she didn't enjoy instead of just pushing products...
That’s always the best: when you can actually have a conversation with a sales assistant, rather than feeling you’re speaking to a robot. Many thanks for watching.
Hi there. Great review mate. I have current formulation of Kouros without silver shoulders. The Gucci formulation Neuly Cedex from 2008. Does it much different than the current one? Cheers
Not a huge fan of civet, but LOVE musk in the base! Kouros brings back so many memories, of course walking down memory lane all the while drinking in my own wrist graced by Iris Poudre is not such a bad way to go about it. If the art and science of perfumery died on the vine today, I can happily live off of so many grand masterpieces of yesteryear and never yearn for more. ❤🙏
Love iris poudre but never warmed to cool water . I had the original 80,s Kouros and it was so dirty but as it was bought and worn to remember a holiday romance , perhaps apt . I have no desire to wear today but the memory of the fragrance is still strong .
Back in 1991 Cool Water’s top notes had a zest that blended orange peel with the after burn of mint along with something ozonic. The current iteration is sickly sweet by comparison and has lost that eye-watering opening. Have the withdrawal of various components / ingredients caused this or have tastes simply changed?
The very first Kouros is very smooth and buttery- tamer than its silver shoulders future formulas. I don't wanna say boring but its far more chill- I smelled a mid 90s and LOVED it- more aromatic and clovey spice.
I've 2013 bottle with 3286 batch code. Its made of plastic and the batch code is on the box only. There's no batch code on the bottle, I've 2015 and 2017 bottles they have batch code on box and bottle both. Is my 2013 plastic bottle is fake? Please help me
I hadn’t seen it until today - it absolutely wouldn’t have been shown where I grew up. Speaking of which, I can’t imagine an ad like that being allowed anywhere nowadays.
Reading the book right before going to bed can cause extended dreaming of Bourdon and his life, most of it of course invented by my brain. Happened to me last night. ☺ I highly enjoy the read though, as I do wearing IP and Kouros. Big loves both of them. I still have a little bottle of Cool Water for women, but I guess that fruit note (melon) doesn't count. :)
Olá parabéns pelo vídeo! Tenho o perfume Kouros, frasco de 2021 e gosto, na sua opinião ele tem a mesma qualidade do vintage não conheço a versão antiga.
I tried Rogue Perfumery's "Chypre Siam" and from that experience I learned that I can't handle a fragrance which is civet musk-prominent, so I might not be able to like YSL's "Kouros".
When I compare my vintage bottle of Kouros and the current version they're obviously day and night. The original is more civety, skanky and you're spot on when you say it's more rounded. The original is stronger but it makes my mouth water and I can clearly distinguish it's huge floral core. The latest version is weaker and smells completely synthetic rough and monodimensional. Maybe it can be recognised as Kouros when you smell it in the air passing by, but it gives me instant head ache. I'd like to know which factors had the biggest influence in the numerous reformulations Kouros has gone through, if it was a matter of availability of the raw materials, restrictions, economic reasons (make it cheaper as sales drop) etc. I just hope that making Kouros more modern were not in their intentions, because Kouros cannot be "redemed" in that sense. It's a masterpiece that will always reveal the age it was concieved in and should be left untouched. The only hope to save it from disappearing is by bravely investing on a new, quality formulation as close to the original as possible, and by designing a marketing campaign that, instead of trying to pass it off as a modern perfume, plays with its status of unsurpassable masterpiece of decades past.
Have you also noticed old kouros smells much more "white" ? If the word white had a smell. I think of clean white tiles or newly washed white fiberglass boats, washed with Vim to be exact. A cleaning agent which very much has the fresh aspect of kouros in it. Well, back in the 90s and 2000s it did at least have a freshness resembling the freshness of Kouros.
I hope " old " Kouros gets re made at some point with whatever perfume trickery can be done. I'm good on older bottles of Kouros until probably 2030 - 2040 but then I'll be out and getting more old ones will be hard if not impossible because more and more of them will have gone bad.
Iris Poudre feels so similar to Chanel No 5… when people makes comment like this I would be sad to hear as its price tag is way too much and higher than no5..
I’ve actually asked myself this question, but the only conclusion I’ve come to so far is that I can’t come to any conclusions, because, as the book suggests, many of the current versions of Creed scents are quite different from their original iterations. So perhaps I never smelt any true Bourdon Creeds. Who knows?
@@Persolaise Do you plan to revisit any of the older Creeds like Green Irish Tweed or Bois du Portugal during your interview with Gabe Oppenheim or after? I mean if you "survived" Viking Cologne then surely you can do those 2 ;).

Looking forward to the interview, and kudos to Rich Mitch and Kuoros.
Me too.
Thanks for watching.
Lovely vid sire P, pumped for next week's interview 🥂🤩
Many thanks, Ryan.
Persolaise, you turned me on to Iris Poudre. It’s a luxury I enjoy when I’m in need of a little self care. It’s my favorite Iris.
Ah, I'm so pleased.
Thanks for letting me know.
The smell of my dad's 'Kouros' is firmly imprinted onto my olfactive memory.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing.

That sounds like an issue caused by reformulation.
