    Crunching the numbers, the CS "costs" $7700 per second of lap time improvement (price diff / time diff). I'm betting the Donut gang could improve the base for less than that. I'm guessing just some Cup 2s on that base would knock off 2-3 seconds.

      @DroneStrike1776 3 месяца назад +41

      But the resale on one of those CS hasn't depreciated one bit. They still go for MSRP on the used market. At the end of the day, you're driving a CS with fully forged crank, rods, and pistons and a tune away from 650WHP that would run with the likes of the 911 Turbo S, C8 Z06s, Astons, AMG GTs etc. Basic JB4 tunes for $799 on the M Competition already makes 626WHP on E30, 660WHP on E50.
      The subframe on the M cars are solidly bolted, there's bigger twin intercoolers, oil coolers, diff cooler, trans cooler, beefier ZF transmission that's known to handle 1000hp/tq, switchable AWD, chassis spot welds, carbon ceramic breaks, beefier sway bars, better adjustable dampers, the entire suspension arm setup is all cast aluminum and not steel or stamped steel, stronger engine mounts, stronger bushings, carbon fiber hood and roof, and wider tracks. The front and rear fenders are wider than the normal 3 series. You get a lot more than you think. The CS can handle more laps without wearing parts off. If you were to add whatever you can to the 330, it'll probable cost $100,000 with labor, and it's still faster and is not a forged S58 engine.
      Randy Pobst did a 1m24 in an old F80 M4 S55 engine with 120 hp less than the M3CS. That's about the same time Donut just did. Put that into consideration.

    Nice. I’m currently in a 230i, essentially a 2 door 3 Series, and when you option on the ELSD, performance brakes and tires the gap between them closes considerably. I’ve absolutely dominated against Corvettes, Porsches and other M cars at my local autocross. Also the “255hp” that BMW states is hilariously underrated. My bone stock 230i can easily do 5 sec 0-60s and I’m assuming low 13s in the quarter. I think if anyone is considering a GR86, GR Corolla, Elantra N, WRX, GTI or even a Civic Type R they should also give BMW a try. The 330i B48 and B58 engines make great tuner cars if you plan on wanting to modify them. I’ve owned Camaro SS, WRX, and GT86, civic SI and so far the BMW has been my favorite. It does everything so well.
