Great video Tyler. Just a small note, can you please knock the music down a few notches for future videos, as I think it really distracts from the info you're providing. Keep up the great work!
This was great, thanks, been searching for "professional video production techniques" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Piyason Videographic Ventures - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got amazing results with it.
Hi Tyler that's good stuff really nice work, i realize you seem to have a lot time on your hands to get the right shots, here in Uganda there seem to be no time ,what advise would you give about timing?
Thanks Geoffrey! If you check out this video here at the 1:25 mark you can see how I use details in a sequence! ruclips.net/video/FMeZ855ov_I/видео.html
+Matt WhoisMatt Johnson Yeah man for sure, that would be awesome. My mother in law is currently working in Dallas for a few months, if we ever make it out for a visit I'll definitely let you know!
Great video! Really liked what you said except that one thing. Obviously on the wedding day the photographer and videographer have to cooperate 100% with each other but why do filmmakers always left as a second? First ask the photographer how they do that, do you mind if i catch a few details before that, and that and that... Is the movie less important than the photos? A lot of guys say this and i don't really understand the argument behind it. The movie and photos are equally as important so everyone should treat each other with respect and not let them feel like a second and as if what they need are second not first. How about you photograph the dress while i will work on the shoes, rings and etc. then we switch? Not can i maybe catch a few things while you do some stuff?
thanks for sharing. Do you put together a short video of the wedding to play at the reception? Here in the Philippines most of the videographers do and they call it a same day edit (sde). Later on they will make a video that will also be given to the couple that will include the reception.
We just started doing that this year. We actually just do a 1 minute "sneak peek" that we show the bride and groom at the reception. We don't tell them we're going to do it so it's surprise to them. It ends up being great because we have something to share on social media the week right after the wedding while we work on the full edit!
Good review. I use my slider for all those detailed shots as well. I would imagine during the ceremony you're on tripods/monopods/handheld. At which point do you use the crane + A6300 combo?
Definitely. So we use the gimbal during a few specific moments during the day: B&G Portraits, processional (following bride), reception intros, misc b-roll/establishing shots, & dancing. Everything else is monopod/tripod.
Good video just like to mention you forgot to explain lighting and organizing the items because that can be overlooked.. you did talk about window light but if there isn't any perhaps explain the location for the LED light
Tyler have you seen the new Edelkrone SliderOne Motion Module. It looks really fast to use and all the clips I've seen so far have been really smooth. It's small as well.
Hey Mark! I just checked it out and it looks like a pretty awesome piece of gear! It seems pretty easy to use, but I'm not sure I would want to use it for weddings. Just one more thing to worry about/manage. But in general it seems like a no brainer if you have an Edelkrone!
Very true, I could see this as being a great asset for wedding day time lapses. If that's something you use heavily, this could take it to another level and be very worth the investment.
Nice job, some good insights. I feel that there's a going trend for more behind the scenes stuff in wedding videos. Are you shooting 60p at weddings then conforming to 24p so you have more versatility for slowing things down in post, or do you pick and choose when to do 60p? Thanks again!
Thanks Dale! I shoot everything 24p throughout the whole day. I just recently started shooting 60p when using a Sony A6300 on a gimbal. Other than that, everything is 24p!
Thanks for sharing! What can I do when I see my own shadow in the video when pointing down (filming down) it happens a lot to me. I can see my shadow holding the camera.
Hi! Cool video, but man, make volume down to a video, because while I was watching this I heard nothing ,because I flew away with the song to the space :D Cheers mate
It's a nightmare to use slider and a tripod.. Really ONLY thing you need is a monopod. And some understanding about composition.. :) And your KIT page does not work as well :)
Great channel guys!! Wish you the best of luck! I loved the tips about 5 ways to WOW your clients. I watched one of your wedding films and I'm very impressed with your composition/framing, such as this shot: ruclips.net/video/FMeZ855ov_I/видео.html - I'm not sure I would have thought to get that angle at the distance. Thanks for sharing your work!

+Mitch Phillips thanks for the feedback, I'll look into the music levels!

Wow! I love how you've shown so many diverse shots in a simplified way. Thank you!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
I tought the slider was floating for a moment lol! Great video!
Thanks for the video. It helped a lot. What heads and QR system are you using? It looked very quick and easy.
Great video Tyler. Nice tips for getting a whole variety of shots.
it would be good if we get to see the final video with the clips merged together. It would help us to figure out the techniques if editing too.

Hi Tyler that's good stuff really nice work, i realize you seem to have a lot time on your hands to get the right shots, here in Uganda there seem to be no time ,what advise would you give about timing?
Nicely done. I would like to see how you would edit these shots together. Would you use two or three or more in succession?
Thanks Geoffrey! If you check out this video here at the 1:25 mark you can see how I use details in a sequence! ruclips.net/video/FMeZ855ov_I/видео.html
Nice work on this Tyler. :D
+Matt WhoisMatt Johnson thanks Matt! Love your channel, thanks for taking the time to comment on mine!
We should do a collab video next time I'm in VA or you're in TX. (Not that I have ever been to VA, but hopefully someday!)
+Matt WhoisMatt Johnson Yeah man for sure, that would be awesome. My mother in law is currently working in Dallas for a few months, if we ever make it out for a visit I'll definitely let you know!

Great Stuff I use very similar techniques, you're very informative especially letting the photographer lead tha'ts golden!
Thanks! As former photographers, we know that methodology is appreciated by all! haha
Awesome shoots thanks bro

Yeah maybe not for weddings you have a point. I think the timelapse thing could be cool as well.
Very true, I could see this as being a great asset for wedding day time lapses. If that's something you use heavily, this could take it to another level and be very worth the investment.
What is the video recording camera you are using in this video? Great work !

Make sure the light source isn't coming from behind you! Ideally the light would be at a 45 degree angle from you in relation to your objects.
you guys are awsome! thank you!
great video and nice tips
Are you manually focusing with the lens?
Good work!
whats your tripod and slider called? do you have links?
Tyler, do you still film these details?
Do you have a gear list?
Sure do! www.kit.com/tyler_herrinton!

This is the Konova K3! Not sure of the length...one of the middle ones they offer!

It would be a great help to subtitle it in Spanish for Spanish-speaking persons
