Parker helped give me the confidence to shoot my first wedding as a one man crew and I've done a few more since then. I always get great feedback from the bride so he's the real deal! Parkers teaching abilities are top notch and he cuts through the fluff to give you the downlow. Get on it folks!
Can you share a little bit of how you did as solo guy? I still don't know how to film for example, one person is talking on stage and reactions of others at the same time.
I have spent countless hours looking for which products I want and this video just took 19 mins of my life and wow! Im a professional Wedding Photographer getting into videography. This video is everything!!!
I'm not even a wedding videographer, but I always love watching your videos because they provide a lot of value for any genre of content. Good stuff as always man!
I'm a wedding photographer and you're so right about communicating with the photographer, more specifically talking about positioning during the isle walk and bouquet toss. There's three wedding videographers that I've recommended for the last six years and I get them work once or twice per season from my clients. Tip for videographers is don't stand on the opposite side of the photographer during the isle walk, bouquet toss, and talk about how far in to approach the couple after the fist kiss. The worst thing is to have a videographer who needs 80% of his shots to be captured with a wide angle from 15' away blocking telephoto still shots. Having said all that, I am going to try hybrid shooting next summer, I tried it again for the first time in years with the R5 and it was actually enjoyable. Great video!
As someone who's shot weddings both photo and video, this crash course video is TOP. Even knowing how to shoot, this video enlightened my knowledge and is making me think twice on how to shoot henceforth. Great video, highly recommend both Parker and James.
$197 for the full course is actually a steal. My biggest problem is getting the couple comfortable & my own lack of confidence. I'm an introvert and don't like telling people what to do, so posing the couple and getting those shots are my hardest challenges. I think it's just a matter of going out more just to deliberately work on those people skills.
It's always helped me to think about the fact that the couple is paying me to capture their day so I shouldn't be apprehensive about portraits or any shot I take. So if I go there and don't get portrait shots because I don't want to tell them what to do then the only person that is missing out is the couple. If that makes sense LOL
This video is amazing! Can´t wait to purchase these tools to use. I was asked to film a friend getting married for her wedding and all i have is a phone!!!! I just started my RUclips channel and never thought i´d be interested in this industry. Thank you much for making this video!!! SO MUCH TO LEARN!!!!
Thankyou for this. i'm getting my 1st video "will you be my bridesmaid?" shoot tomorrow bc my fine art photography getting more notice. And I tell you i don't have all the equipment and obvious wedding experience. But i did want to add that to my photography/Videography resume. Focusing on having the eye to capture and being confident in that and your tips on just getting everything, how to use dept and emotion, calmed me down. I was super nervous. practice makes better
It seemed so quick and jampacked with info but I realized it's 18 minutes. I can't believe it's FREE! Thanks a lot! I started three channels on youtube and currently planning to focus on wedding videography. Your videos are more than informative and encouraging. They help keep many beginners going!
The wedding part of our business started with Canon’s, then went Sony, but have since switched to 4 GH5s because the color science is similar to Canon but they lack the record time limit, plus they have more professional focus and exposure tools built in.
Ive watched a few "how to shoot weddings" I'm a pro still photographer and wanted to look at the other side....(cue evil laugh). I trained alot of photographers and the one thing you offer that is a must, is working with others and that includes the photographer and coordinator and venue owners to know what you can or can't do and who is going to be where. More importantly you need to know where you need to be and what's going on around you. I would say a basic would be five shadows.... Don't be afraid to scope out venues and know them, that give you knowledge on the day so you aren't wondering around. You will also sound like it's not a first shoot. And of course back ups... I've had cameras lock up, but I always have another to hand and shoot on alternative cameras, may sound hard but if you have one fail, then you don't lose everything. A good start is offer to do no contract cover, then see how that goes. It's a way to learn without liability.
I think the most valuable piece of gear is lighting.. doesnt matter what camera you use, if you have a wedding light e.g. aputure 60x ,that you can manipulate, you'd be able to make any shot cinematic.. great video!
What the hell. I will never shoot cinematic wedding videos, but why did i watch the whole video? God damn, this tutorial was already so cinematic. I love you guys!
This is amazing, Parker and Jake! Thank you so much for this! This will help so many filmmakers wanting to shoot or are already shooting weddings! Fulltime Filmmaker is awesome!
I can not pay for the course right now, but Im at the place to shoot my first wedding video and Im watching this video for 200k time lol...Parker literally is the best revealer of filmmaking secrets in youtube. thanks bro
after Three years , this video is still the best tutorial video on RUclips, I searched all of RUclips but I did not find any bette . I'm iranian tnx a lot
Audio: I'd like to add hook up an external audio recorder to the DJ/MC sound system. I use the Tascam DR-70. It gives you yet another audio track to mix with in addition to the cameras' built-in mics and lavs. It requires syncing in post but it sounds great. It also gives you music as well as ceremony if ceremony is mic'ed and toast speeches in closeup presence in as high quality as the DJ/MC's mics, sound board and music source files allow.
Lol I once recorded at a wedding. When the "main characters" entered,I stood up to record them, but then all the guests also started to stand up. That felt like true power. Edit: watching this makes me happy, because I got many things right by luck. Also, at a wedding some relatives played live music. I then used this music as background music.
Amazing help. Weddings is so so personal and have to be captured at the right time. It’s the pinnacle of event photography and this those tips can be applied to anything. It’s being organised and being able to communicate. Never done a wedding (yet) for this reason as it’s so so personal. It just has to be just right and this video has given me the confidence to move forward. Thank you for sharing as this video once again is so suitable for event photography in general but of course weddings. Thank you x
So much amazing information provided by you two. I have been apart of Full Time Filmmaker for over a year now and it's been the best video production investment I have ever made!
I didn't come to learn shooting, i didn't own any DSLR, but to see beautiful landscape, amazing shooting skills, awesome editing, beautiful panoramic 👍👍😍it's really satisfying
Thanks a million times. I'm a photographer, but I've had many clients asking me to do video. I subscribed to your videos now, cos I want to learn more about video and you make it so much easier to learn and very very interesting. Thanks for the valuable tutorial.
woow!! what a great refresher after pandemic, getting ready for my busy wedding season, which most of photographers are done already, anyways!! those video tips I found amazing even for me as a wedding photographer!!! Totally agree with the dialogue. I also have created wedding highlight films with no dialogue and the ones with....are much much better. It just adds so much to the final film
Awesome video guys. Few weeks ago I uploaded my very first wedding film, shot completely alone, and it was by far the biggest challenge i've had so far in filmmaking, specially in the editing room, it took me a long time to decide how to tell their story haha.
Great video I watched just to get camera and lens recommendations since I generally shoot very different style videos. But these guys packed so much great info into this video in just a few minutes. Stuff that film teachers spend months teaching.
Wow thanks to Parker for this valuable information I will appreciate u to the end this is gonna help me both in my movie production and event shooting love you guys. 😍

I saw that shout out to Peter McKinnon's variable ND filter.
So overpriced!
@@colinmakesvideos everything is worth what someone will pay, lol... I'm sure Parker's weddings are quite pricey. They look it.
@@colinmakesvideos I couldn't really find the same filter that wasn't the Peter McKinnon edition so you kind of have to buy that one.
@@colinmakesvideos but I also hear that B+W SC filters are good

The gH5 is a beautiful camera!
It's just that their autofocus and low-light ability are both hot garbage...
