Just came back here to say that I watched this video a while ago and I just finished my first solo wedding gig! Used all these tips and it was AMAZING!! Editing the video now.
Prob one of the best wedding video tutorial I’ve seen in a while. You keep it short, simple, & stick to your main points. Beautiful, I would love to see a 60 second glimpse of your work at the end of your videos, it would give the viewer more of a look at the shots your getting. But other than that, you killed it. 🤙🏼
*Notes* 1. Get there very early and check your equipment 2. Plan your shots beforehand 3. Use Glidecam (for tracking or wide shots) and some handheld footage (in case the place gets all crowdy or in case you want to shoot smth close-up) 4. Keep these two cameras separate 5. Don't be *too* involved/get in the way, be a fly on the wall. 6. Adjust white balance when changing location 7. Don't record the entire wedding, only the shots you'll probably use 8. Get a wide variety of shots (different angles) 9. Wait for the key moments and catch those reactions 10. Shoot in 60fps ( so you can make some slow motion too), use double shutter speed and a camera with built in stabilization 11. Stabilize handheld material by moving your body (not only your hands) 12. 50mm for portraits (obviously) 13. Get close to get those pictures 14. Interact with other photographers 15. When dancing move with the music and do handheld stuff mostly
Excellent video and great advice. My friend begged my to do his wedding after getting sticker shock when pricing a videographer for his large wedding. He was desperate and offered me a little cash so I finally gave in. I have all the equipment but am NOT a wedding guy. I told him, you'll get what you paid for and he completely understood. He keeps on telling me no pressure and he wasn't going to have a videographer in the first place. I told him if I do it I am all in which means hours of video and editing. People who don't do this do not understand the amount of work that goes into filming. So now I am off to the facility a day early to scope it out and get some drone footage. Wish me luck.
I had to comment on this video. You put a lot of effort to show your workflow. I was awaiting that you talk and only show a few videos about your process, but no, you put everything in detail, not showing only the gear, but HOW you do it with the help of another person filming you while you are showing your process at a wedding. Exceptional content and behind the scenes. Thank you very much for this!
Great piece. If I may add, you gotta emphasize on sound recording, especially when you pause and switch lens, angles, cameras during speeches and vowels, the sounds will cut off too so you will need a zoom to record all your sound from church to reception separately for post, of course while making sure you record all other sounds via mic on camera too as backups.
in my experience in wedding videography the very best thing you really need to do is have fun. don't pressure yourself just enjoy it and the idea will follow :) Thanks man !
Rogue Productions I saw it! Pretty good for a start I must say, just shot my first paid festival/concerts. Not out on RUclips yet, as there is someone else editing the footage from the whole weekend.
I am quite experienced with wedding videography, but I am quite a perfectionist and get a little anxious before shoots, so your video was a really soothing experience to reaffirm that I indeed do good work and don't need to overthink it. Thank you :D
dude! this video is EXACTLY what I was trying to find. thank you for all the great info perfectly balanced for someone that is learning but doesn't want to come off like a beginner
@@andreasholmm Had some issues with the photographer, first time filming with a photographer so didn't count would be a bit tricky to share shots with the photographer. My advice would be to be aware you will be shooting with other people and try to impose your shots. Overall I think I did pretty well, but my video could be better if I had imposed my shots, but in the end of the day the clients loved the video and also this is all learning process for me. Here's the video: ruclips.net/video/yIlEZ77dGJU/видео.html
@@andreasholmm Thanks mate! I used the filmmaking kit from Rode : www.rode.com/wireless/filmmaker which I thought would be easier to set up and don't worry about sync the audio. So the audio came straight to the camera. There's a transmitter and a receiver. Here's a video how it works: ruclips.net/video/JWWTqdpPd7I/видео.html . I know I lot of people prefer to record the audio with a different device (audio recorder), but I went with this Rode kit
You haven't mentioned anything about a 2nd camera, bolted down or on a tripod. I always 2 additional cameras for ceremony and reception shots. Nice video!

This is the first video I see from you and I've love how you have explained. Thanks also the person who helped you recording those clips, that way everybody understands perfectly, good job!
Nice video, question about lighting.. When the family gathered to dance the lighting was low, how did you manage to capture every detail without mounted light or lighting set up?
Excellent video, I came here because I shoot a lot of Hip-Hop but I want to get into weddings. This is so good I sent it to someone I'm teaching now because I felt it taught me stuff, Great Job!
Move from the left to the right side and use the front and center as well as the aisle, you have generally 15-22 minutes to work with so that should be plenty of time to get a few different angles from each side an towards the end stick to dead center.
I have a wedding to shoot this coming Saturday, and I’m pretty scared. I’m using one camera, and doing a mix of photos and videos. Any more tips that could help? I loved the video! And I subscribed and hit the bell!
Thanks for the tips but I suggest, never leave your camera and stabilizer on that position like in 3:04 . One wrong move and disaster is just waiting to happen.

@ Angelo Dau; are you a photographer? if not, I forgive you for your ignorance. If you use difusser, which the photographer clearly used, it spreads the light so pointing the flash upward doesn't necessarily mean the photographer is bouncing off the flash. Also, it could be that he just came out of the venue and hasn't had the time to make adjustment.
