Plus some Iceland details. 😀
Matt WhoisMatt Johnson do you have tips and tricks for shooting manual focus... cuz I use autofocus atm but it really sucks... most shots are not really in focus and sometimes auto of focus.
Matt WhoisMatt Johnson awesome Video Matt! Thanks for your Tipps & Tricks. Now i've got only one question left: how do you manage to get the sound from the speeches & all that other sound stuff? Internal Mic? Greetings from Germany!!
I can't tell you how much of my heroes you guys are. Matt. I've watched every single one of your videos several times. I appreciate how hard you worked to make this happen. I love how real you are. Please keep making these we, the amateur contingent, desperately need real people doing this and showing us the reality and the flexibility of it all.
I don't comment much on YouTub videos, but this one is worth it. Literally THE best BTS for wedding videos. Matt says it how it is - all the ups and downs - and doesn't seem to hide anything. The passion and love for making wedding videos really comes through!
YES YES YES!!!! Thanks man this was AWESOME!!! I've got a Wedding this month on the 13th!!! And I've got me and 2 shooters and this helped so much! And I would LOVE to see the full wedding man. If possible. I also love how your Behind the Scenes Guy who filmed also got your wife filming. My wife is still new to it and so is my second shooter and this will help them A LOT! Getting an understanding on how the Second shooter works is super helpful. When you get caught up with your weddings that would also be an awesome video on how a second shooter should film. Also I really appreciate your work man. Its inspiring and helps me shoot to be a better Wedding Cinematographer. MORE MORE MORE behind the scenes! And at some point when I get the Cash I WILL contact you for your Consulting. It would be awesome to get feed back on some things. Have some fun Editing!
Hey Matt, simply... out of the park! You're so generous sharing all your knowledge and experience with the us. This is why I engaged so much with your vids. You're eloquent, funny, straight to the point, man!!! You're awesome. Keep it up dude!!!
Wow! Awesome behind the scene. You are an inspiration to me Matt, keep up the good work. Rachel and Matt stealing the dance floor with their dance moves.
Hi again Matt, second set of questions: DSLR cameras are overlooked by the general public due to their small body size i.e. there is an ignorance that the traditional massive handheld camcorders (or broadcast cameras) will achieve that professional look. Obviously the camera sensor matters most. So did you get funny looks when you first started your business using your DSLR at weddings; do you still get funny looks now and; for anyone beginning in wedding cinematography, would you recommend always having a secondary camera man with a big camcorder just to stand there looking good (pretending to film) and thus make your business look more professional? Hope my questions makes sense. Thanks and many blessings, James.
+JamesKiberuLuttu hey James! I try to get to know every couple I'm filming. Because I do that and they've seen my previous work, they trust me. As long as I'm not showing up with an iPhone, they don't worry about what camera I'm shooting with lol. That said, I've used bigger cameras at weddings and even with a bigger one you'll still get a drunk guest coming up asking you to take their picture hahaha. I let my work speak for itself and I don't stress about the camera size etc. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.
Needed this video so badly! Shooting my first wedding next weekend and this helped soooooo much to calm my nerves and give me creative ideas. Would love to see more content like this :D
Love These Videos. Keep them coming please! Have you heard of anyone else use the sony a6000 for weddings? It's an incredibly cheap camera for the quality. I'm finding it harder and harder for me to justify and upgrade to the a6300,a6500 or a7sii.
Good too know. a6500 in body stabilization and touch screen have me interested most. Seem more like luxuries that necessities though. I feel like the steady shot lenses on the a6000 do very well
Adam Post and A6500 has face recognition, so you can save the faces of the bride and groom so it will focus on their faces in auto focus mode and not other people who are just om the background
I'm rocking that feature on the a6000 too. Very nice especially for outdoor ceremonies. Before I realized the feature existed, too many times the autofocus would move off of the people and onto the background. One of the best features for sure.
The a6000 is an amazing camera, but the reason I didn't choose to use it was the lack of an audio jack. I got the a6300 instead mostly for that feature. If thats not important to you, I think you will love the a6000.
Love this! Couldn't have been better timing, I'm shooting my first wedding Friday! I've been obsessed with your channel lately. Great content and you're really good at talking to the camera and making it entertaining and funny. Keep it up!
Thanks for all of your videos Matt! I never intended to film weddings but got asked by many couples to do so and your channel has helped me speed up my learning process so that I can offer the best videos possible for these couples! THANK YOU!
This was amazing. Thanks so much for releasing this. The trailer was already one of the best things I've seen, but the explanation was fantastic! Can't wait for the whole thing.
Awesome! I used to photograph and video weddings starting in film days going into the VHS early DVD days. Your video has made me both want to get back into it and remember why I left it at the same time. That ending was phenomenal! Worth the other rain headaches.
i love bts shoots and how to's - you've put a ton of work into your channel and sharing tips - one crucial aspect of your work is having a great partner - in your case partner/wife !!! having a shooting partner is EVERYTHING - adds confidence, perspective and of course another angle !!! hats off to the pair of you - keep it up.
honestly, you have the best video!! the most informative and you explain everything in a way so I completely get it! It blew my mind how well your shots came out that you did by hand without a steady cam IE like the tree shot.
Matt, I have watched all 4 behind the scene videos and awesome job!!! I loved all 4 and learned a lot. Thank you 🙏🏻 and keep them coming. Have a wonderful day!!!
Matt this was something I really needed to watch. Thank you so much for sharing a true behind the scenes LOOK of filming a wedding. I gotta find me a great 2nd shooter with a DSLR and step my game up.
duuude you make it look too easy!!! Thank you!! and your wife for honestly taking the time to share this awesome video with us! There is no doubt, considering all the chaos around you. U pulled it off. Thats what we have to deal with. I did a wedding where we had no power for the rest of the afternoon, thank God we had some really good lights and fully charged batteries. God Bless you always!!
It's SO HILARIOUS how Matt's voice goes from your nice simple easy going voice, to a massive road runner speed talker, hahah. Well done sir, you are cherished. Keep up the great work, always!
you're awesome man, u guys are real wedding journalist. I do admire your stile. I've learn lots. thanks for taking the time to show the insights to help other wedding videographers that need some guidelines like this one. best wishes for both of you.
Man I love this. I love your style. Ever since I discovered you on youtube you've simplified many things for me. I like your simplicity and your genuine tips. Thanks Matt!
Fantastic guys. Thanks so much for sharing your professional approach to a wedding incorporating drone footage in adverse circumstances. It is a revelation to us amateur drone wedding photographs. I think I'll stick to drone videos.
this is the best wedding video coverage I've ever seen - loved this BTS format too, a very well detail insight into the videography process. It's made me really excited to shoot my first wedding video this month!
I just wanted to say thank you for all your help. I confidently shot my first wedding yesterday and everything went great. Thank you again for all you tips and advice!!!!
This has to be one if my favourite tutorial/BTS videos I've ever seen, that and the video of the actual wedding as absolutely awesome as man. That's last shot with the lightning boom!! 😍
Matt, awesome job with the BTS. Unlike other BTS wedding films, you did an amazing job articulating details rather than just adding us as a third wheel to the day. Great job!!! I look very much forward to seeing the next BTS. PS: I booked my first wedding for July 8th of this year. I look forward to using much of what I've learned from your films on that day. Thanks again!!!
So. Damn. Good. I can't wait to see more wedding BTS. As soon as I can, I'm booking a consultation sesh because there's so many things I want to ask about your style and process!
Seriously awesome content here Matt! .... thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge mate. The one eye opener for me was the lack of gimbals. It was great to see what can be achieved by keeping it simple and using the in body stabilisation.
Matt WhoisMatt Johnson Thank you so much for this video. I am filming my first wedding in 3 days and i was so worried that I would let the couple down and not get very good footage. After watching this video you've inspired me to be positive about my approach to filming the wedding and have truly given me confidence going into it. Your tips are going to help me out a lot. Again thank you so much and I will be recommending your videos to all of my videography friends.
I've been a low-key fan since your Impact video days! Not a videographer, but I always nerd out about videography/cinematography things! Love stumbling upon your youtube channel!
Hardest job in the world. Great insight. People in broadcast look down on the "wedding guys" but I gotta say (having filmed and edited over 30 weddings) they are hard work and your results are better than most broadcast productions I edit! :) Well done!
Thank you Matt. I've been a photographer for about 9 years now and I'm just now looking into shooting videos. You're videos are helping me realize it's not that hard of a jump but I still want to do my research on it.
You have no idea how much your videos have helped me in the process of making my very own first wedding highlight video for my sister. Thanks to all your inputs, tips and tricks, we now have made the first step of becoming wedding videographers too. Greetings from Switzerland!
Thanks for sharing great real wedding behind the scenes. You both of you are great. It was very much informative for me. What i was thinking i got it. Wide shots and close ups. Great coverage. Good luck.

Kyle Hunt I'm going to have to use that one lol!
Hey Matt, simply... out of the park! You're so generous sharing all your knowledge and experience with the us. This is why I engaged so much with your vids. You're eloquent, funny, straight to the point, man!!! You're awesome. Keep it up dude!!!
+Leonardo Zevallos thanks so much Leonardo! I'm so glad you like my videos 😁

The like-button has been liked, punched and squeezed to pieces.
Hahaha thanks Daniel!

Great Behind The Scenes! It was very lernful to see how you handeled the change of plans. Amazing video. Keep up the good work!

A+++++ youtuber
Yeah, I'm so glad I found this channel, he's one of the only reviewers that actually uses their gear professionally.
I wanted to thank you for this! This is what I love: your humor, your attitude, and your willingness to help - thank you!!
Awsome...
How did you get that wipe effect in between dancing shots ?
Is dat a transition?
Using prism??
Thanks! Yes, prism ;)
Would someone be able to educate me on prism? Is that a software or just a transition? Where can i get it? Such a cool transition effect!
Casey Numetko buy it on amazon and wave it front of the lens while filming.
Great job Matt! Can't wait to see the full BTS!
19:13 So unprofessional. Yet so necessary.
BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY
Great stuff Matt. My wife and I shoot together too, mostly families, but having that dynamic is really unique. Thumbs up!
Love These Videos. Keep them coming please! Have you heard of anyone else use the sony a6000 for weddings? It's an incredibly cheap camera for the quality. I'm finding it harder and harder for me to justify and upgrade to the a6300,a6500 or a7sii.
Adam Post I got a a7s, and I also considered those camera's.
a7s = shallow depth of field, low light
a6500 = autofocus, 4k, cheaper lenses, lighter
Good too know. a6500 in body stabilization and touch screen have me interested most. Seem more like luxuries that necessities though. I feel like the steady shot lenses on the a6000 do very well
