      I think you will know why you need the three years videography course only when you attended it. Really, you won't even know what you've missed, until you really start learning it.
      Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying this is a bad "how to" film, it is really a good one in fact, I gave a thumb up. But this film only covered a fraction of what you will need to know when it's your turn to do it.
      So, you still need that 3 year course + 3 more years experience if you are going run this business.

    Ugh, I got instant anxiety from the moment you guys unpacked the trunk. It all came flooding back to me in an instant: the scramble, the panic, the compromised creativity on a nervously ticking clock, that sinking feeling at the end of the day hoping you got that specific moment (and in focus)...you guys are soldiers. Excellent look at how the pros do it!

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I watched it before filming a wedding for my friends, my first time doing anything like that. The behind the scenes really helped me with what to get/bring, what to expect on the day, what shots to think about. I shot much more low-fi than this (iPhone, lenses, gimbal, consumer drone and some small lights) so watching this also helped me know what limitations I would run into and helped me plan how to work around them. Thank you!

I feel like with high-stress wedding shoots like this, getting the actual shots isn't as much of a burden as talking to everyone and making sure everyone is on the same page and understands what the plan is. As well as being assertive, but friendly, with everyone and getting everyone together to get the shots that you want and know will make the film better. Great behind the scenes, thank you for making this.

    it's not an easy job, it's not easy to find someone shares with you his work and show you what to do, you get that with experience and many practices, easy to watch but not easy to do it in the first time.
    it's like doing a film team by yourself, you the actor and the director and the cameraman.

This was so dope...I have produced 10,000+ high level VIP and corporate live events since 1999, and you can't get a better play by play behind the scenes example than this. From the pre-planning workflow, how to properly interact with all the vendors, being nice to everyone (especially other vendors!), and with communicating goals and artistic expectations on how you would like each shot/segment/piece to come together...this is exactly how you should handle event production with a 5 star, unparalleled customer service, and utmost professional level. I came here looking for tips on how to record my own wedding video thinking it could be something you could just DIY. But after watching this amazing video and all the hard work you guys put into it, every penny you charge is well worth it. I guess I better stop now and go hire the videographer. You guys did an amazing over the top job and I loved the new touches of technology. Definitely more modern for sure. 👍👍

    The Mavic isn't "usable"? Pretty extreme given that we are just filming weddings, right? The Mavic for the price and portability, is great for weddings.

    • @scottmckenna
      @scottmckenna  7 лет назад +32

      I was saying it jokingly (for the most part). I just mean when you own an Inspire 2 which has remarkable image capability, it makes the Mavic feel unusable that's all. I'm not saying it's junk, it's just not the Inspire 2 and once you see that quality, it's hard to use something else. Does that make sense?

    • @scottmckenna
      @scottmckenna  7 лет назад +39

      and yes you can say we're "JUST" filming weddings, but I don't look at business that way. I say "If I can get better quality than the rest of people, I'm going to do it". It's the reason I own an $8000 drone in the first place, to stick out as having some of the best aerials you'll see. Hope that makes sense.

    • @Geletin911
      @Geletin911 7 лет назад +5

      Scott McKenna, that all makes sense - for you and your situation. I’m genuinely happy that what you do works for you (seriously lol), but a lot, and I mean a lot, of people look to people on RUclips and try to mimic their exact set up, even if that means going in debt over a drone. Therefore, stating what I believe is still a good drone, especially for weddings, isn’t usable (even jokingly), is extreme. Anyways, keep up the good work!

    • @scottmckenna
      @scottmckenna  7 лет назад +8

      +Kevin Borge I understand your argument, but keep in mind it was my my behind the scenes and just my opinion for what I do coming from my mouth that’s all. I wasn’t saying no one should use a Mavic. I just said for what I do, I just prefer the Inspire. That’s it, no disrespect intended. It’s like me saying the iPhone should never be used for professional video because I like the GH5 better. That would be a true statement in my head, but does’t mean that if the iPhone works for you, you can’t use it. An opinion is just an opinion.. thanks for checking out the video though, I hope you found it helpful.

    Amazing BTS and very educational, thanks for sharing! :) Quick question,
    I saw the final video on Vimeo and loved it! What else do you turn in to the bride and groom besides the 10 minute video? Any other raw footage or edited content? I get people asking me to film and edit 2 hours of the special day. I think that's just too much to edit in a cinematic way :|
