  • New brake and rotor install/replacement. No special tools needed and no OBD Scanner necessary. You will learn how to place the car's parking brake into service mode manually so you retract the brake caliper and replace your old brakes and rotors.
    In this video you will receive detailed instructions on how to change the rear rotors and brakes on a 2018 GMC Terrain, which is very similar to other GM vehicles such as the Equinox.
    Highlighted in this video is the is the removal of a rotor bolt that is rusty. GM part number for the bolt is 11570339. These bolts can only be found at a GM dealer or online. www.gmpartsdir....

    This just saved me big time. Had no idea the parking brake set itself. I could not close the caliper to save my life and then I saw this video. Thank you!!

    Thanks a ton for this video. I'm replacing the pads and rotors on a 2018 Terrain with electric parking brake in a few days. I would have been stuck if not for this video, I've never seen an electric parking brake before!

    In the emergency brake motor, after turning the torque screw into service mode, do you screw it back out? Or just leave it in service mode and remount??

    • @jimknowlton342
      @jimknowlton342 3 месяца назад +2

      both videos i watched they did not mess with it, I think it's less a mode and more of a mechanical release that is reset once the motor is turned back on and run the first time.

      @@jimknowlton342 yeah I had to apart, and turn screw until it stopped, then I was able to push the caliper back, yeah you have to leave it there then it does reset once you’re done and put everything back together 👍

    So basically you turning the brake service mode on with the Allen wrench is the same as going into the computer and shutting it off? Iv seen other videos that sware you need a scanner to put into service mode?

    Do you know of a sequence that automatically backs off the e-brake? All i do in my F150 is use the key and park brake switch to put it into service mode. Thanks for the video.

    • @letsfixthatnow
      @letsfixthatnow  10 месяцев назад

      When you put it in park, the rear brakes automatically engage. It’s important to park it on a flat surface to ensure the parking brake is off. I wish there was an easier way, but it’s not too difficult to do.

      you are correct. Always put it in brake service mode first. Then you dont have to do half of this. And its safer for the vehicle

    I have a 2018 GMC terrain SLE 2.0 are the front rotors 300mm or 321mm im so confused they aren’t interchangeable are they?

    • @letsfixthatnow
      @letsfixthatnow  10 месяцев назад

      The fronts should be 300mm. They are on this 2018 GMC Terrain. The rear rotors are a different smaller size than the fronts since the front take the majority of the load. Hope this helps! Enter you the trim/specs of your car into an auto parts website and it’ll get you the correct ones.

    • @chrismusic69

      this vehicle has two options for size rotors. If you have 4 piston brake calipers it uses the bigger option. If you only have the dual piston it uses the smaller option

    Hey bro quick question before you started the repair did you put the vehicle in service mode or did you just go at it like that and manually turn the caliper back without putting the car in service mode with the button?

    • @letsfixthatnow
      @letsfixthatnow  10 месяцев назад

      You have to manually do it, unless you have an advanced scanner to place them into service mode. They automatically lock when parked

    • @chrismusic69
      @chrismusic69 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@letsfixthatnow while this works it IS NOT the correct way. What everyone is saying about service mode is in fact the correct way. I work on these daily. You should put it into service mode to do the brakes. The way you are doing it, while it may work, is extra work and taking the parking motor off can cause extra unnecessary wear. This is causing extra steps that can complicate this job. Putting the vehicle in to brake service mode eliminates this
