That steamer does a really nice job on the door panels. One of the very best detailing videos I have seen. Lots of helpful cleaning techniques. Thanks so much!!
I've owned 4 of these and currently have a 2001 Extended cab, 4.0 liter 4x4 - bought it new. Have 142,000 miles on it and have kept up with all services and maintenance, including cosmetic items too. Easy to work on and replacement parts are relatively cheap compared to new trucks. Did have to completely redo the engine cooling system recently, but thought it was worth the money as I plan on driving it another 140,000 miles. It's been a great truck. Really enjoyed this video.
I have the same truck, 4wd, stick shift, and 387,000 miles. Engine just has an oil leak (rear main seal) and a lifter tick. Just cosmetically restored it as well because it was my high school vehicle.
Thank you. VERY SATISFYING. To quickly take the outer appearance up a notch after the washing, I would ARMOR ALL dress the hard black plastics like the side view mirrors, tailgate bumper, and the fender wheel guards. it will make it pop like the way you dressed the tires. That was thorough. You've really taken that truck to a new level. They are very reliable trucks as I've been told and I'm impressed by how many there are still on the road. I've seen quite a few of the '80 models. I don't see that many old Toyotas still on the road, and they always seemed to get biased favor or mention as the " most reliable" small trucks. If you paid less than $2K, you got a deal. The engine was running smooth with zero vibrational shake. I'm curious to know how much you paid, but I know it's not really ethical to ask. Congratulations on the find, the work achieved and thanks for posting what you've done. ‹👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love this series. I have the same truck, 2wd red supercab 94. I pushed over 250K last year. My dents are bigger than yours, but my paint is better. Had to fiddle with the engine last year, 2 temp sensors, maf clean, iac clean, etc. Runs pretty good for a 30 yr old beast. It is a fun truck to drive, imo.
They are good trucks! I know a few that have gone 300,000 or 400,000 miles. I don’t think I’ll ever turn down buying any that come up for the correct price
That's funny to say as most auto body shops tell you to use dish soap for the first few washes because it's gentle and doesn't leave any residue. You might want to check your facts bud.

It's amazing what soap, water, and elbow grease can do. Great video. These are great work trucks, more fuel efficient and easier to do repairs on.
Awesome video, and an even cooler truck!

BTW, If you don't want that bike rack thing, I would be interested. I live around Olympia.

Great work man! Inspiring me to get back into the Ranger i recently picked up. Currently working on getting the engine cooling system figured out.
that is the biggest issue on these things...cooling
What did you clean the wheels with?? Seems to have worked really well.
Just soap and water. I’m not that good at wheels yet.
ave these same wheels and has some stains I can't get off... what do you use?
Never use dish soap on paint
Do you have a reason why not?
Dish soap really just strips the wax. Sometimes that’s what you need to do to get a good cleaning.

Put the camera on a tripod and leave it there. Hand-held camera shots are horrible. Plus, you need both hands free to do the work.
That sounds like a wonderfully boring suggestion! Thank you!
