BBC documentary on The Muppet Show, hosted by Gonzo. (2002) With Frank Oz, Dave Goelz, Jerry Nelson, Brian Henson, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, James Coburn, Louise Gold.
There was a time when all the Muppet Shows were here on RUclips for free, I'd had a accident and was laid up for a few months and watched the lot over that time.

It's not easy being green, made me cry everytime too. I was never green but we all feel invisible & out of place sometimes too. I just wanted to hug Kermit and tell him I understood.
The Muppet Show is in a category all by itself. On Monday nights my college roommates and I would head to campus to the memorial lounge in the student union center where there was a huge TV and lots of comfy couches and chairs. Around 200 students would pack into this large area to watch The Muppet Show. Experiencing the Muppets as a huge group was so much fun! We sang the opening theme song together and laughed ourselves silly. Afterwards people would talk about their favorite skits and lines. I did that for the entire 4 years of college and my first year being out in the “real world”. Truly, the Muppets got me through all of the tough parts of college. When my boys were old enough my husband and I introduced them to the Muppet magic. Their whacky humor and creativity never grow old.
I adored Miss Piggy when I was little and had Miss Piggy everything, from a quilt to a Halloween costume! My mom's mother's name was Peggy, so when I was really little, I'd call her "Miss Piggy." Fortunately, Grandma knew that Miss Piggy was a TV character, so no problem. Also, I was just a little girl.
Jim Henson was such a gift to mankind, he shared his talent, which was also his passion, with the world. He was a Genius in his craft, his writing, his absolutely brilliant story lines and story telling. I remember seeing him on a talk show when I was very young, it was just him with Kermit on his arm, I fell in love. So Sesame St, the Muppet Show, the Muppet Movies were a thrill for me. I remember exactly where I was when I heard that he died, I was heartsick. Then Sammy Davis Jr. died the same day. Most of the coverage in the news was about Sammie, who I loved since I was little, but all I could think of was that Jim Henson was not of this earth anymore. I really felt the loss of someone I adored and knew the world was the worse off for us loosing him so young, he had so much to share with us, to continue entertaining and educating through all his "magical ways" thank you, Jim for every single bit of joy and laughter and kindness you brought us. RIP

I absolutely LOVED the Muppet Show. Jim Henson.... Thank you so much for sharing what was in your beautiful heart. I loved Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Fraggle Rock, and 'Crystal' was my very own, special 'coming of age' movie. I love, and miss, all of them. Please, if you can, please come back; Just the way you were. The World today has turned ugly, lost what it means to really 'love', hasn't got the first clue about what it is to BE A FRIEND, muchless have good friends. God Bless you Jim Henson. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, thoughts, ideas, dreams, love, joy and glorious imagination, with us.
It was amazing to be a child when the muppet show first aired. I have wonderful memories of the whole family sitting around on a Sunday night ,watching the muppets together.
My parents allowed me to stay up past my bedtime to see Rowlf the Dog play the piano on “The Jimmy Dean Show”. It was a big deal because the show came on during a school night. I do not remember what years that was. It was sometime before the Beatles appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show”.
Where I live, there is a location that was one if two movie theaters up until 1990's. One was the Delft. It was original just one big theater, but then they split it into two theaters so they could show more than 1 movie at a time. Anyway, there was a big, huge poster mural of Jim Henson and the Muppets. Thing was huge and you always walked by it going to the movie and coming out from it. That thing was there for many years. It was there thru the 80's and 90's, so, pretty sure it was put in, in the late 70's maybe? Then someone decided to remodel the inside to do a multiplex and in doing so went that murel.
I'm watching tbis today as The Muppets original 5 seasons from 1976-81 have arrived on Disney plus today KERMIT DAY 19TH February 2021, 💚🇬🇧🐸😄The best ever
I didn’t start liking the Muppet Show until I was in my 20s but I did grow up with Sesame Street. However, I do love the Muppets as a result. I still can’t believe that they managed to get so many of the greatest celebrities on their show.
The Muppet Show was so incredible! What Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and the entire team did was absolutely amazing! When I watch the Muppet Show I don't even think about the fact that I'm watching puppets. I'm watching incredibly well acted characters, funny, goofy, sad, and even angry. When Kermit found out that Miss Piggy 🐷 was saying they were 💍engaged💍, that had to be the most hilarious 🐸Kermit🐸the🐸Frog🐸 skits I ever saw! It was pure comedic genius, or comedic gold!! Absolutely amazing and extremely funny!!
My parents both loved the Muppets, they raised my brother and I to love the Muppets. I was exposed to the Muppets before I was exposed to Disney. Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock were my first exposures to them. I'll say that even though I adore Disney, if I had to choose between the two, I would pick Muppets. My favorite Muppets thing ever is the Muppet Family Christmas special. Then Tales from Muppetland the Frog Prince is my next favorite. That version of the Frog Prince is my favorite Frog Prince ever. I saw it around the same time I saw the Fairy Tale Theater Frog Prince with Robin Williams, and in both, the prince's name is Robin, which is kind of cool. The Muppets version of the Frog Prince introduced Robin and Sweetums. Of course, I loved The Muppet Show too.
it's kind of a shame too. It's not like, it wouldn't cost that much to at least put a restored version of each episode on it, you know they would make money off it. Could be a lot of reasons, like copyright issues. I know that's why there's not a full disc set of Happy Days. some things like that only allow the distributor a certain number of seasons on dvd. sucks but who knows, maybe we'll get them on Netflix or Hulu one day. OMG, I could imagine a Netflix special or series. With them allowed free reign, in content and what's allowed to say, the possibilities could be endless.

Miss Piggy the biggest diva EVER! Gonzo the gratest showman! The Swedish chef, the most enternaining chef I loved pigs in space and the doctor and Beeker
The answer as to why Statler and Waldorf kept coming back has been answered. I think it was Kermit asked them, their answer, they had free tickets to the show.
I was the first generation for Sesame Street and the Muppet Show. The night the Muppet Show aired was the only night my sister and I finished washing and drying the dishes at a reasonable time.
@@richardrobart-morgan3407 on DVD. Not streaming. Yes it’s great that we have it but I want it physically in my hands, not on a streaming service. It’s not the same

Having grown up during the time of " Buffalo Bob " andI others ; I still love this show ! Later I started to catch segments of Sesame Street and I saw some of the same characters there! Granted I was long past the target audience age, but I still liked seeing Kermit and others on Sesame Street. Don't know whether you could launch a show like this these days though. Now you have to pay to watch the originals on some streaming service ; or try and see if it's on RUclips. Keep posting these on YT.
When Jim hinson left it was a shock to everyone but someone needs to feel fine but I mean had emerged a pupet show that I create and when he died someone did not doubt his son and I'm grateful to be called a muppet fan
So great to see Gonzo narrating something again. After re-watching "Muppet Christmas Carol," I just got all the more sad by the way the blue furry weirdo was so horribly snubbed in the two latest films (along with poor Fozzie Bear). On a side note, does anyone else think some of those British puppets are creepy as all holy fuck?
I am now 54 years old and I will always love the Muppets

Gonzo narrates The Muppet’s Christmas Carol with Michael Cane. It’s my favorite.
We need The Muppets back in our world in 2022.
I would realy love that.
I still have my Fozzie Bear. He went to college with me and survived my son and granddaughter. He sits on a shelf in my bedroom.

Miss Piggy the biggest diva EVER!
Gonzo the gratest showman!
The Swedish chef, the most enternaining chef
I loved pigs in space and the doctor and Beeker
The 5th and 10th doctor appeared when the Muppets took the O2
11:56 the “knock-it-off” bit
As a huge Henson fan, I love Muppets too.
The number one Muppets song... Mana.. Mana..
I Love Muppets!

I love the muppets
i remember seeing the muppets perform in los angeles when i was a young me .
The answer as to why Statler and Waldorf kept coming back has been answered. I think it was Kermit asked them, their answer, they had free tickets to the show.
I LOVE THE MUPPETS!

I was the first generation for Sesame Street and the Muppet Show. The night the Muppet Show aired was the only night my sister and I finished washing and drying the dishes at a reasonable time.
11:57 - One of my favorite Muppet Moments
KNOCK IT OFF!!!
@@DIMON_CAMI Have you ever seen Jim Henson's Animal Jam?
@@UnicornFairy42 Yes
@@DIMON_CAMI Do you have any episodes of Animal Jam recorded on 📼?
@@UnicornFairy42 Unfortunately no, except DVD’s
Anybody else feel heartwarmed when they show that montage of guest stars with that David bowie song playing over it
There is the coolest pic of Blondie with the Muppets during their show. I NEED it on my wall!!!
I love this so much awesome.
I Wish Season 4 And 5 Of The Muppet Show Was Out On DVD
In only a few days all seasons will be on Disney Plus.
@@richardrobart-morgan3407 on DVD. Not streaming. Yes it’s great that we have it but I want it physically in my hands, not on a streaming service. It’s not the same

@@UnicornFairy42 I can’t say I have. It seems like a kids’ show and would have never popped up on my radar. Looks interesting though.
54:07 taken from the adventures of Elmo in Grouchland besides gonzo should’ve mentioned that movie especially Elmo should’ve made an appearance in the special with gonzo with his blanket
It's really inspiring all that they did to make such a masterpiece of art. I'm also enjoying learning and making puppet shows with animal puppets
I loved that comment Kermit was the captain of the lunatics. Ime still HERE 50 years later
This special was also the same date noggin had been updated which was April Fools day 2002. 👍
At 4:26, best background music ever for a Muppets special, Electric Light Orchestra's song, " Livin ' Thing".
THAT WAS AMAZING!! BEST BBC DOCUMENTARY EVER!! MAYBE IS ME BUT I THINK ALL BBC DOCUMENTARIES NEEDS TO LIKE THIS!! ;)
Lovely jog down memory lane. Thank You!
and Peter Sellers :D
When Jim hinson left it was a shock to everyone but someone needs to feel fine but I mean had emerged a pupet show that I create and when he died someone did not doubt his son and I'm grateful to be called a muppet fan

I never knew I needed a montage of children’s television set to the Sex Pistols, but I guess I did.
Thanks to Disney they screwed it up
they have this whole bit about how animal is Keith Moon , but i think there is also some ginger baker in there.
The guy with Orville the duck died in 2015 at age 67
Roy Clark, one of the guest stars passed away last November.
LOVE ❤
Thank you for sharing!😀❤🖖🙏
Great documentary! Thanks for upload

I wasn’t expecting the sign to be that big!
TheLegendaryBlackBeastOf Aaagh think a couple of those british ones are cute, at first though i was caught a little off guard by their appearance
Ah they're only creepy to you because you didn't grow up with them.
I don't think the Muppets are creepy.
Gonzo is my soul Muppet.
Thanks for this video I appreciate it
it doesn't feel right watching the muppets talk about they're creator. this is beyond meta.
