    Thank you for sharing this video. I came across it to see where this part was located and I was glad to find it underneath the plastic engine cover. Other videos show Grand Cherokees and part was underneath the wheel well.
    My daughters 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk check engine turned on from March 20 and Mar 21, I went out to her car and manually closed the gas cap tightly and to be honest I think it was lose. I turned the jeep on and parked it and the light was not on, the next day she remote started her jeep with her FOB key and she said the light turned on. On March 22nd, 2023 she told me that light did not turn on in the morning going to school. I took her jeep to AutoZone and they were able to see the code P0456 and they told me the part was around $68.00, but I found it on RockAuto for $42.00. Anyways, I did not purchase the Vapor Canister Purge Valve / Solenoid. But today, I went and opened her fuel cap and cleaned it very good including the seal and so far no Engine light. If it comes back I will pruchase the Vapor Canister Purge Valve / Solenoid from RockAuto.

    Same thing just happened to me, already replaced the gas cap. Going to try this first before doing a smoke test which is what I was told is the next step. Fingers crossed it’s this, no smoke test for me!! Thank you for the video!

      You're welcome! I'm glad it's helping people out.
      I don't know how much it costs for a new gas cap but from other comments that I've read online, it seems like the gas cap is rarely the issue. I only paid $18 for a new purge valve and it fixed the issue. For anyone else reading this comment - knowing what I know now, I'd start with the purge valve first before replacing the gas cap. (I've never had a gas cap fail. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it's never happened to me.).
      Best of luck! Let me know if the purge valve replacement fixes the issue.

Hopefully this works instead of doing the expensive smoke test they said to do for the Evap . Sucks when you don’t know about cars lol gonna try do this myself before paying someone 120 to do it . Thanks for the video! Everything you said was so helpful but then I couldn't get that hose off. You say you "loosen it up and pull it right out" but I'm not an auto mechanic and I'm having a hell of a time getting that hose off. Did you do anything special or you just pulled really hard on it with your bare hands?

    • @rh3774
      @rh3774  2 года назад

      Hi Legend, Thanks for the kind words on the video. That hose that is connected to the right side of the valve should come off but it sounds like yours is just really stuck on there (probably because it's never had to be removed up until now and it's had years to set itself in place). Assuming you were able to get the valve disconnected from both of the connection points on the left, you can then lift the valve out of its position (even though it's still connected to the hose on the right) and then twist the valve out of that right-side hose. You may need to use a pair of pliers to grip the hose (gently) while twisting the valve out. I hope that helps. Please let me know your outcome!

    How do I get the white bracket off mine isn’t coming off.

    • @rh3774
      @rh3774  8 месяцев назад

      It's kind of hard to explain but basically there is a little clamp inside the white part that you have to pinch and lift up/out. Once that is out, you can then pull the white part to the left. That is what releases it. Hope that helps.

    I have a 2017 Jeep cherokee. I purchased the car with 25k miles and within 20 days I received this code. I’m covered under warranty (lemon law). Have you had another other problems after this code? I’m trying to prepare for the worst here

    • @rh3774
      @rh3774  Год назад +1

      Luckily, not at all. My yearly mileage is pretty far below average so that may be part of why I haven't had any issues (it's a 2015 and it just turned to 77k miles yesterday). Of course your experience may be different but the error code you got should be an easy fix (whether you fix it or the dealership does it for you). I haven't had anything major happen to mine.
      One thing to watch out for is your power seat motor. I DID have a problem with that after it was out of warranty and I managed to get Chrysler to cover the cost of replacement for it.
