I thought about the Cannister filter behind the fuel tank and then changing the hose in front of the engine compartment with this solenoid. Do you think I can solve the problem? Thanks for your help, the car doesn't turn on the warning lights in the instrument cluster.🙏🏻
If your having a problem only while filling up the tank it usually means your charcoal canister is clogged & needs to be replaced...the purge valve solenoid on the engine only works during certain conditions while the engine is running...if you've already replaced the canister & are still having the same refueling problems, I would take a look @ the lines running to it👀 Maybe have a smoke test performed 💨
Egr= exhaust gas recirculation It is literally recirculating your exhaust gasses to reduce emissions and save gas But on the other side The purge valve controls the flow of the fuel vapor that is in the gas tank to benefit from it by making the car rich if the air to fuel ratio needs to.
I had the code p1456 in my civic. My mechanic replaced the purge valve and the cel keep turning on. Then he replaced the vent valve and a solenoid and the cel again turned on. He did a research and it was actually that the ecm needed an update and just in case replaced the charcoal canister. Guess what. Problem solve and passed state inspection.
@@Clean-N-ShineInDfw ecm stands for engine control module, its the car's computer that monitors the sensors, including the emissions control system and does other task, such as making sure that the engine receives the correct air and fuel mixture. And yes, mines too. Unfortunately, about a week or two of my comment, my check engine light turned on again. Now when I have to go to do the state inspection, I have to go thru all that again, to bring my car to the mechanic.
@@jayday325 yeap, it passed inspection. But several days later, the check engine light popped up again, so unfortunately looks like the problem was only temporarily resolved, so again I would have to bring my car to the mechanic when my car is due for inspection.
My 04 mustang start to run hot. Changed thermostat, new radiator, water pump, alternator. Auto zone test showed canister purge valve code. Ordered online should be here tomorrow… why is my car running hot? Any idea? Confused
My purge valve clicks rather loudly I have a rattling noise from my for transit when I rev it in park was listening with a stethascope and when I got to the purge valve it was the only thing making noise is that a symptom of a bad one I don't have codes or issues with the van other vise
So a purge valve that gets stuck open doesn't always cause an error code? My car has trouble idling mainly on a cold engine and I've tried almost anything else like ignition parts and vacuume leaks. I got curious because I saw this EVAP system is also connected to the vacuume hoses. The motor runs like it's on 3 cilinders when cold and idling, but when I drive it seems pretty much okay. Can I test this in a simple way?
@@Clean-N-ShineInDfw I dont think it is the problem in my case, took out the valve and closed off both hoses to test...I assume this mimics the situation of a perfectly closed valve and I also assume the valve is not open when idling with a cold engine normally...
@@vossenspringer the valve hardly ever opens it only opens when the EVAP canister is full. Then the canisters vapour is dumped into the engine to be burned. You should not have a rough idle on a cold start because the engine would be in open loop and running off a set program in the computer once closed loop happens the engine takes feedback from the sensors all over the vehicle. Rough idle on cold starts could be the Idle Air Control Valve. Getting stuck and not fully opening when cold. This is what controls the idle when not pressing the gas pedal and it’s job is to slowly close and bring the idle down once everything starts to warm up.
@@ryans413 Thanks for answering my question, my rough idling was fixed in the end by adjusting my valves, they were in desperate need of that....Problem was that in the past they told me the valves didn't need adjustment in my car, that it had hydrolic valves that can't be adjusted...thats why I never looked at that before, and the first 3 mechanics who looked at the problem didn't have a clue either. Luckily I finally went to an LPG garage that knows what it's doing and had it fixed...
A purge valve that you can blow through is bad, causes a lean condition. What if you can’t blow through it, can it still be bad? Can it be stuck closed? And cause like a rich condition? Thanks Kevin, 2010 Yukon XL denali 6.2L
I didn't start having issues with the car starting after filling up until I changed my purge value.. Any clue what it could be? Having horrible acceleration
The valves should come in the box closed try blowing through the inlet hose and if you can’t blow through it that’s good means the valves closed now the next steps pretty easy take a 9 volt battery and some wire and hook up the valve to it if it opens and you can blow through it the valves good.
Don’t matter once you turn it off and back on it will still struggle to start my 2020 impala was doing it I decided to change it after it died on me at a light, changed it with a aftermarket brand that lasted a year so now I have a oem one

I have a 2013 Toyota Verso 1.8 petrol automatic. For the last few months the car loses power whenever the fuel is just below half a tank. If i add any amount of fuel above half tank, the problem goes away. Ive tried injector cleaner additive thinking it may be fuel quality but am now convinced it must have something to do with fuel tank air...management or something to do with air in the tank. Could it be a bad purge valve with these symptoms. I have no problem starting and running with full tank. Problem starts like clockwork at just below half tank. Mystery to everyone ive spoken to so far.
Does anyone know? I replaced a faulty oem with a duralast on my 2010 Frontier. After about 3 months, it started rattling like a loose rocker. It stops if I pinch off the hose. No svc lite.
The reason this happens is because when gas is hot like in the summer it gives off more vapour and if the purge valve is stuck closed it can’t be burned off by the engine so it starts to suffocate the fuel pump and the pump starts sucking vapour not liquid and it stalls the engine. This usually happens with less then half a tank of gas.
@@ryans413 I’m not sure what you mean by suffocate the fuel pump and it start sucking fuel vapors, the fuel pump is always submerged in liquid and sucks fuel from the bottom of the tank, so there is no way for the fuel pump to suck vapors. If the purge valve is stuck closed, the vapors will simply vent to the atmosphere from the carbon canister through the vent solenoid. The issue with summer stalling is the purge valve stuck OPEN not closed, as it is constantly bringing in fuel vapors to the intake, it’s worse when the tank gets empty, as more vapors accumulate above the fuel. When the vapors gets into the intake from a defectively open purge valve, it causes the car to stall as it’s displacing oxygen (air) and suffocating the engine as there isn’t enough air to burn the fuel.

Maybe have a smoke test performed 💨
What's the difference between a purge valve and a EGR valve??
Egr= exhaust gas recirculation
It is literally recirculating your exhaust gasses to reduce emissions and save gas
But on the other side
The purge valve controls the flow of the fuel vapor that is in the gas tank to benefit from it by making the car rich if the air to fuel ratio needs to.
No issues, got carburetor old school rules

Would this be p442 also ?
I had the code p1456 in my civic. My mechanic replaced the purge valve and the cel keep turning on. Then he replaced the vent valve and a solenoid and the cel again turned on. He did a research and it was actually that the ecm needed an update and just in case replaced the charcoal canister. Guess what. Problem solve and passed state inspection.
What is ecm mean? I replaced this part but it continues to pop up in my check engine at least every other week
@@3dplanet100 did you pass inspection
@@jayday325 yeap, it passed inspection. But several days later, the check engine light popped up again, so unfortunately looks like the problem was only temporarily resolved, so again I would have to bring my car to the mechanic when my car is due for inspection.

Very nice, thank you!
Great, informative video
Very nice, thank you!
Following
Probably got a crappy purge valve. Take it off and test it by blowing through it. See videos on RUclips on this. Can’t get cheap parts.
The valves should come in the box closed try blowing through the inlet hose and if you can’t blow through it that’s good means the valves closed now the next steps pretty easy take a 9 volt battery and some wire and hook up the valve to it if it opens and you can blow through it the valves good.
The valve opens up once the engine is at operating temperature, right??
Outstanding!
I replaced the purge valve on my 05 Hummer H2 and no more check engine light and passed emission test but still it's hard to put fuel in it...

I’m changing mine on a 2019 Crv will the engine light come off automatically?
Disconnect the battery for a few minutes after doing that if you don’t have scanner to reset the ECU
It’s not a bad idea to change the PCV valve too both the EVAP purge and PCV valves can cause these symptoms too
Do you think refueling while the car is still on would be okay? I only have 1/8th of a tank left and I fear my car wont start after I get fuel lol
Don’t matter once you turn it off and back on it will still struggle to start my 2020 impala was doing it I decided to change it after it died on me at a light, changed it with a aftermarket brand that lasted a year so now I have a oem one
I have engine (yaris mk1 1.0L) hasitation for 1-2 sec when I pull gas pedal fast, and everything is OK when I do it slowly... No "check" lights, no error codes. Cold start is Ok. I tested coils, sparkplug, MAF and and TPS sensors... everything is ok... So it can be this valve from your video?
Clean your throttle body could be it had same symptoms on my car and it fixed now I think I need to replace purge valve
@@twisted2746 it was ECU... (in my case)
Thanks ! No wonder I’ve been paying $60-$90 for gas on a v6 🥲
What would that code read for
I have a 2013 Toyota Verso 1.8 petrol automatic. Mystery to everyone ive spoken to so far.
this problem may causes from fuel filter. it can be dirty and need replacement. go to a repairing store and may ask them about this.
@@yusufaras9066 I think so too, thanks.
@@ernestschutte1978 you're welcome mate ✌️
Or a hole part way up I. Your fuel pickup tube..gets to a certain level an begins to suck air instead of fuel.. more common than you'd think too.

On my car I got a po171 because by being open it created a vacuum leak meaning more on meter air into the engine. 😅
Does anyone know? I replaced a faulty oem with a duralast on my 2010 Frontier. After about 3 months, it started rattling like a loose rocker. It stops if I pinch off the hose. No svc lite.
Can this cause a p0448?

Not to forget a faulty purge Valve stalls ur car in hot summers 😭😭😭
Yes bro i had a experience like this in hot summer the car is stalling when the purge valve is stuck off
This shit happen to me like two weeks ago and has been and on and of thing when it gets hot. I had to walk home 3 hours at 12am lmaooo
@@LeadDownRang3 did replacing the valve fix it?
