You must have posted this video right before I tackled a large deck, and I missed it! The folding trick would have saved me so much time and frustration. I had to tape spindles over 500 times! 😫
For the straight run, tape the entire length of all the pickets and cut in a slice hbetween each picket. Then just wrap each side around each individual picket. Saves cutting individual pieces.
Quick question. I did an accent wall for my daughter, and while I had a Brad nailer, she ended up opting for a CA glue with accelerant. We took a break for a couple weeks in the middle of the project and when we came back, some of the boards were coming up on the ends. We re-atched them with more CA glue and when we finished with all the caulking, felt there was enough bond and 6 months later, it looks good. So, here's my question(s). My niece wants me to do something similar....and my daughter is helping. My daughter liked the idea of doing the exact same method....just using more CA glue. But while I really liked the CA glue for an instant bond, I thought it would be a better bond to add Loctite Power Grab or at least acrylic latex caulk along with the glue. The glue will hold it in place while the Power Grab or caulk sets up. It was nice not to have to find and mark wall studs and fill nail holes and there are lots of vertical pieces that won't come near studs, so a no nails option will be much quicker and neater. Im thinking the bonding and consistency of the additional products with CA glue likely will be better when it goes through contraction and expansion. Am I thinking clearly? CA glue with caulk or Power Grab? Any advice?
How did you paint the slope with spindles in place? We have the BM self leveling advanced it's been great everywhere on the trim but this slope has been a nightmare
So I tapped them and the tops got some white paint behind them 😒 What can I do to clean the paint off of the matte black spindles? Got any ideas? Can’t seem to find anything on this. Thanks!
I have no patience for taping. I spent a summer painting homes and focused on hand skills. Those rods would not be that hard to cut around. Give it a try!
Straight tear on tape hint: Pull out your length of tape - then fold it over at a right angle to the roll and tear off along the circumference of the roll itself - straight tear!
I have seen a painter use that “liquid wax” they put in glass for cleaning and other things. goes on easy, dries off easy. He coated with crush and sponge the areas he didn’t want to get paint on and when dried, would paint with no issues after paint was dry, he just used a rag to wipe the dried up paste off. (this was in early 70s). light vacuum and simple. (don’t recall a lot of painters tape back then not sure what you call the stuff, but think ya can you can buy in arts and crafts stores. used a lot of large windows for decorating and also cleaning when wiping off. i use vaseline on non ferrous materials using a q tip. saw a vid and tried it on on a planter wife had and was great. hate to clean them balusters if not taped up.
I wished that I would have tjought about the half folded top ofcthe tape...just painted the whole house...we in 5 to 7 years I might use this tip. Tnx nonetheless

Those were fun. Now do round spindles!

Great idea, but I have a better one. Hire someone to do it. 😄

Do you have a video on how to remove old paint from the pickets?
mineral spirits

🍻cheers
It looks so complicated..... can you pop on over and show me how to do this in person? 😀👍
🍻😂
Lost me when you called balusters “pickets”.
