Beautiful transformation and your attention to detail wow I love when a diy tells us the reason why they choose the products as well as show their use. Thank you for this video
Great Job! would suggest painting the inside of the vent duct black also . It would make it look like the rest of the risers.
I didn't even think of that! Maybe I will!
Wow Melissa !!! You have so many attributes !!! Patience.....Determination.....and as always, you want your work to look the best possible at the end.... That staircase looks so much better now than before !!!!!!! Bright and modern !!! .....Lovely...just like you !!!!!!
Tinting primer helps with dark paints
The final result is awesome! Very nice work on the stairs.
Love it!
Wow, looks good .
Great job!
Excellent Improvement, what an amazing difference.
Good job, really changed the look, nice and clean,
Great job young lady!
Amazing!
Great job. Great work
Id try to replace the carpet on the stairs with treads and a runner. Will make it look much cleaner
Looks soooo good!! Great job!!
Thank you!!
It looks beautiful!
Thank you!
WONDERFUL WORK
Great job!!!
awesome job
One of the best videos on staircases I’ve seen. Love it! You explain steps and products used very well and keep it real. Having said that, the results are amazing.
Thank you!! What a nice compliment!
Beautiful! I love to put a little bit of black threw out the house
This turned out really nice! Good job
WOW!!!!!
That looks amazing. Great job. I’m getting ready to tackle my stairs!
Thank you Richie!! Best of luck to you! Are you painting or staining?
I’m going to paint the railing black and stain stairs. And thank you.
Looks awesome 👍👍😊
Thanks!
Outstanding job. Definitely looks a whole lot better then the before pics. I just subscribed to your channel and was looking at other projects of yours. You're not afraid to tackle any thing. I think you're great. Keep up the good work.
Well done. Your right, it looks very modern and clean! And it’s extra amazing you doing this in a high traffic area, with little kids, and I didn’t see one black foot print on the carpet! So great job!! I love frog tape too! My projects started turning out better once I started using frog tape. One little suggestion... I think, you’d be really happy if you painted the inside of the vent. But that’s super minor. I only mentioned it, because, you have such a good eye for details on all your projects...and once you paint that one, you’ll love it so much, you just might be painting all your vents in the house :-)
I see this is an older video, how is the paint holding up? Thanks for the videos! You did an amazing job.
I did paint inside the vent! I forgot to do that before the video reveal. 😏 The paint job is holding up super well - only one nick on the newel post at the top of the stairs where everybody bangs things against it.
Great result, as a suggestion is it possible to paint inside that AC vent so it blends in with colour on risers
I am about to embark on painting our banisters and spindles black. I was planning to use a gel stain but don't think I can get it as black as I'd like without using paint. I read your comment a few months back about how the paint is holding up and wondered if it is continuing?
Looks faboulous. Very modern. Great job. But eh, how did you keep the carpet clean?
💯🎯
That turned out amazing! The staircase looks so much brighter, even with the black! I can't even imagine how much work that was, especially with young children running around and being sick as well. WTG!! Hope you feel better soon. Try some honey and lemon for your throat; my dad is a singer and swears by it. Great job and feel better! :)
I have been drinking honey lemon tea and it does help! Thank you so much for your sweet comment :) What does your dad sing? Rock? Folk? Country?
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog He's a gospel singer. He has a quartet with 3 other gentlemen and a trio with my sister. :)
@@mojoknows1804 sweet!
Thanks for sharing this video, did you sand after the finished coating of polyacrylic?
Excellent work! And tedious beyond belief.
I wanted to see how you managed to paint that handrail, I have the same exact one going down to our basement. Care to share? It rolls ALOT! and is so aggravating lol.
WoW! same project in my house and now sort of inspired "To Help My Wife" double staircase though, so should be 1/2 the time with too much detail, but yours looks great! But do you want to pop over and help her? I'll baby sit! PLZ!
I know you mentioned the brand but do you recall the exact paint. I'm looy to do something similar and would like to take the guess work out of it. Great video! Thanks for the tips!
Yep, here's the black paint: homedepot.sjv.io/Q1mA3
Leaving that carpet was brave. Lol
It would've looked way better if you had removed the carpet and exposed the natural wood. Also, painted the risers white, instead of black. Kudos to you for working so hard even while being sick. Great job!
Geez, the old staircase looked downright creepy. I mean, haunted-house creepy. Big improvement.
What is the color of the walls of your house?
Mindful gray by sherwin williams
thanks for your response . I am an Egyptian and admire your works. Good Luck
A very nice job, the black against the white is very crisp and shows the stairs off well. My only problem is with the air vent, it looks good black but you can see all the trunking behind it and it spoils the effect. I don't know if you could paint it black but I think it would be well worth doing. Hope you are over your sore throat, it sounds very bad. I bet if your husband got it he would be in bed looking for sympathy. (I know I would)
I did the voiceover today because my cold has been so bad I can barely talk. So no I'm not close to better, but I hope to be soon. I like your suggestion about the vent and I think I will paint inside it to make it "disappear" Thanks John!
How do I get my wife to do this?
L👁👁KS AMAZING.... SO MUCH CLEANER....Why didn't you take the carpet off and pay the full steps? Just an opinion of a follower, and because you ask 😊 Think it would look much better with carpet ripped off and the full step painted
Thanks for the comment! Time was of the essence - having four kiddos and doing work in such a high traffic area is tough. :)
1- Paint the vent inside ....2- lose the carpet and paint the treads ...
I thought the carpet will be gone..
I don't understand why you don't get rid of the house if you don't like the character of its 130 years I'm sure someone would have liked to restore it to its original glory without making it modern. Seems like a lot of work when new houses are already modern.
The carpet should have been replaced, that carper looks too old, maybe older than your grandfather.
