    Since you are going over twice you suggest dividing the 4# of final seed rate in half. at the 4 +/- minute mark you say set at 32.5 to get 50% of the 4#/sf seed rate. But the chart shows 2.2# at a setting of 55

    This is a great video. The only problem is nobody seems to rent a real "slice seeder" like in this video. They only rent overseeders or slit seeders which are just dethatching machines (power rake) with a seed hopper. So it makes a huge mess pulling up all of the thatch and grass. I wish I could find a slice seeder like the one in your video.

    Gypsum will neutralize those dog spots. You can pick that up anywhere. I'd also advise throwing that slit seeder in the lake. Get a dethatcher with a bagging attachment to clean the yard up. Then aerate, over seed, fertilizer and soil corrections such as the gypsum.

    Applying new seed and pre emergent at the same time will interfere with seed germination ( for sure in southern lawns ) . Most pre-emergents for weeds will prevent grass seed from germinating. More than likely it will inhibit the growth of most grass seed. besides Tupersan that is Siduron based herbicide that are usually very expensive .

    • @MrDaryboy
      @MrDaryboy 8 лет назад +3

      +Blake Roberts Actually no, Scotts has a new starter fert that also kills weed when they come in. They turn white. It works, I just used it last year. Had great germination of grass seed and the weeds that tried to come up died.

      No...just make sure to water at least 5x a day for short 5 min periods...so this for at least 10-12 days, then do 2 watering a for longer periods..the key is to keep the seed moist but not flooded..hand watering is recommended for first watering due to the harshness of impact sprinklers.

    If you want to make 2 passes, you divide the poundage in half NOT the gauge setting. The correct way is 4 lbs/2 pass, which equals 2 lbs. the correct gauge setting for 2 passes would be 52 give or take.... NOT 32.5.

      How often? I would say only when your lawn is too thin to overseed by normal core aerating and seeding.

    So we don't see the grass after 10 days or a month

    Roger disposed of his first wife and provided nutrients to his lawn at the same time with that machine.

      Prop. More stuff sitting around generally raises your production standards. No doubt trotted out for ratings.

    Much easier way is to get a load of dirt and level it out , then seed and lightly rake the seed in the dirt and use straw and water it everyday for the first 10 days then every other day .

    I worked for the scotts company many years. Dogs can be a problem. You want mainly a rye grass variety as it takes alot of abuse. Slice seeding works but theres alot in your choice of seed. Biy sh&t and you grow SH&T. spend a few bucks for your lawn and dont clip it bald.. Ive saw scotts customers doing things to their lawns that amazed me for stupidity. We had a guy we called the LAWN NAZI ( after seinfelds soup nazi) this guy was perfect and had a lawn better then the scotts president and yes ive met him several times and he was not our customer but he was smart. Me i have a nice lawn but i will say overseed and thatch removal along with aerations work wonders on a lawn.
