hello friends!! hope you all are doing well & staying safe! in this video, we test out 3 ~viral~ soap hacks and regret it soon afterwards, hehe. what do you think of our attempts?? also, if you want to keep up with us in between videos you can check out my youtube or instagram stories (@safiyany)!! we try and post on there every day! xoxo, saf EDIT: also, a heads up - though we mention it in the video - cinnamon can be dangerous to use on your skin and ivory soap can release fumes when being microwaved (I guess that's why it smelled so bad), so definitely be careful if you take on any of these soap art "hacks" yourself!!
Safiya mentioned that she was self-conscious of the way she enunciates her words because people make fun of her, but to be honest, I absolutely love how she speaks and her words bring a unique charm to her.
I agree! It's cute, and I prefer listening to some one enunciate and be able to understand them clearly, than the alternative. I hope she never changes that :)
I was wondering about that. She sounds different in her recent videos and I was wondering why. I'm guessing it was because of some of the not nice comments she received. I hope she knows we love the way she talks and she doesn't need to change for anyone.
They aren't the only ones either. If you search phrases like "testing hacks" or "debunking hacks" than you'll find all sorts of different hacks being tested. Of course you already know there are food and soap hacks, but I've also discovered folks reviewing & testing hacks for gardening, art, sewing, even plumbing (which btw, the man who tried the plumbing hacks has a channel which he named after himself, Roger Wakefield, where he actually makes plumbing cool and interesting).
They obviously give no measurements and vague instructions bc then when it doesn't work, you'll say "oh shoot.. *I* must have done something wrong.." instead of blame them for their fake hack.
I will never not praise how well-made her videos are. That's why I don't care if it's clothes, makeup, DIY, or historical videos, I don't care. You and Ty doing what you do is what I'm here to support. Go you!
As a non-native English speaker, I love the way Safiya talks because of how easy it is to understand and listen to while doing something else or just binge watching her videos 😭 I don’t have to put on the subtitles, and that is a VERY rare occurrence. Thank you Safiya for articulating so well and making us non-English listeners learn the language super easily! 😄💕
I love Saf and all but can we just take a moment to appreciate that Tyler went through that video frame by frame to figure out the measurements? Damn, she really found the perfect man for her
These videos are how they make their money.. she has her job(s) and so does he... first successful channel with just 2 people doing all the work even after maintaining all of us followers
I know she said in her blog post that people make fun of the way she annunciates her words, but I'm hard of hearing so I actually really like it! And they add captions when they mumble or speak off camera, those accessibility adjustments make a big difference for me :)
Same here! The biggest reason that I like watching her videos is the way she clearly pronounces her words. Since English isn't my first language, the way she speaks just sounds so nice
I honestly LOVE the way she speaks. Her blog post made me so sad to hear that shitty negative comments were getting to her so I hope she’s able to feel better because I think she’s absolutely wonderful ❤️
If anyone ever makes fun of Saf's enunciation again, I'm gonna throw hands. I love her enunciation and it's one of the reasons I love her videos so much. Being very deaf, enunciation is the best!
Oh my gosh, your poor hands from the cinnamon!! 😂 And those gummy soaps are always so disappointing, I’ll make a video soon on how to make gummy soaps that actually work. 💗
Saf talks like a true narrator. She is extremely articulate, her voice is soothing to listen to and each word is clearly pronounced, so it is easy for everyone to keep up and know what's going on. Nobody with a large following is safe from friendly parody, but there is literally no reason to turn the way she talks into something negative.
Even if she messes up you still understand somehow. And for the stuttering peeps: I really hope yous don't take it as an offense when we ask yous to try to repeat (I know it's just certain sounds/words yous get stuck at), when I ask it's because I genuinely try to understand yous as well as I possibly can. (If you get confused about why I use "yous" it's just kinda a "you" but for when it's more people)
I really like the way she talks. I have trouble understanding words sometimes, but the way she talks and the rhythm she has makes it easier for me to understand her
Dearest Safiya, I don't care if you want to change your channel. I'm happy to follow all your interests. I'm 63 now, and still develop new interests and hobbies all the time. What I mean to say is that I believe it is natural for our passions to change over the years, but our inner core doesn't so much. So, whatever you want to show us, I still love how you do it. I happen to love this soap series, but fully expect you to come up with something else that we will all love just as much. Because we all love you and your beloved.
saf, i’m not even upset that you don’t post that often- and i’ll tell ya why. i can really tell just how much time and effort you put into your work. documented on your instagram stories, we get to be there with you every step of the way and see the process that goes into making the videos. all of your hard work really pays off, with your videos being some of the most entertaining out there, and i won’t forget to mention that you also usually throw some educational/sciencey stuff in there. (see: when she explains about oxygen molecules rising in the microwave, causing that cloud soap to expand or something like that) it’s always a great day when saf posts. thanks for all you do. you’re the best ❤️🙏🏻😊 also i love all of your makeup looks!
Safiya, listening to your voice while you walk through every step eases me down from anxiety and panic attacks. Thank you so much for making your videos.
Been doing the ivory trick for years. It’s BEST to cut it into quarters and do one at a time. Always put it on a paper towel. And the best use for it is to crumble it into dry bits to use for homemade laundry soap. Usually you would grate it, but microwaving it saves so much time and energy!
Saw a lot of comments with negative reactions to Safiya putting the cinnamon in and I thought she didn’t do proper research. But then afterwards she acknowledges the mistake and genuinely didn’t know she wasn’t supposed to since her concept is to follow the Blossom videos. Y’all should finish the video first before commenting.
That said if y'all want to fill the comment section with nice friendly warnings to viewers that cinnamon in soap can be harmful.. that's not a bad thing.
Sayfia is such an icon. During quarantine she has been doing so many soap stuff which is so inspiring to people to wash their hands whether it's subconscious or not. So amazing! Love you Saf!
In this episode of "The Internet Lied to Me", we say goodbye to the microwave. A bear gives up it's dreams of marathon supremacy. Brambleberry takes ownership of Saf's soul. And the cinnamon challenge evolves.
They need a "bad idea" microwave. I know lots of people in hack testing and science circles often end up owning one so they quite destroying their nice one.
Here's another alternative for the cinnamon: Instead of cinnamon, (which could harm ur skin) use grated or finely grated brown soap! (u can grate it urself)
I've been a big fan of Safiya's for a while and after following her Instragram stories documenting each day she films and does audio, its incredibly admirable she is able to put out quality content. I definitely took it for granted when she posted once a week/month. Even if the subject matter doesn't completely interest me, she still manages to make it super entertaining. I don't often leave comments on videos, but I just wanted to express my support for you! Love you so much Safiya!
I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say I have no idea how much time and work goes into making a video. For me it seems like filming, editing, and music and badaboom you’re done. But watching your RUclips and Instagram stories has shown me it’s so much more. Thank you so much for all the time and love you put into your videos, your audience appreciates and loves you sm❤️
I wanted to comment this as well. Watching her stories makes me appreciate and respect her soooo much more 😍 I always knew her editing was flawless and I always thought a lot of work was going in to it, but not THAT much, wow.
The amount of research that goes into these videos, trial and error that happens (coz Safiya doesn't give up ), and like she gives sources and credits to everyone who has tired remotely similar things is amazing. Also the fact that she shows us her fails is so inspiring. I love Safiya and Tyler and all the effort they put in the videos!
english is not my first language and the way safiya enunciates words makes everything easier to understand. you’re the absolute best, sending you love from brazil ❤️
I'm Brazilian too! The way Safiya talks helps me sooo much, I love it. She was one of the first English speakers youtubers I could watch, cause she pronounces everything so clearly it's simple and easy to understand.
I think the most important thing these videos do (besides being funny, discovering some actual hacks, etc) is demonstrate the importance of peer review and a well-written procedure.
To be honest, I've never noticed that safiya even over prounced words. Don't change how u speak just cos some people don't like it. You are you. Never change. Ps at least we can understand what saf says and she doesn't speak to fast like other you tubers.
No one is an “expert” in language unless you’re studying linguistics. Native speakers make mistakes all the time. I speak like her as I used to be a teacher, also helps when making phone calls too . I never thought she spoke off or enunciated weird. I left her a nice msg on her blog and told her to not worry what people say as you shouldn’t change yourself because of what people say. I mean how unhappy can you be in your life that you have to make someone else feel bad about their life? I hope her mental health is getting better. She and anyone else deserves to be happy with who they choose to be.
Exactly! I never even watch a 15 minute video especially on topics like hacks and makeup experiment but the way they talk and edit this video..i pay attention like I am watching a documentary on world peace..
I have auditory processing disorder and you are the only youtuber I watch that I don’t need captions on. Your voice is so soothing and you enunciate well
@@kelsithompson210 it's a thing! My processing often slows down from ears to brain, the running joke is I have the same processing speed as a 2004 dell laptop - lipreading helps, also if you look into it, you can explain to your nearest and dearest if you need to hear something again :) the amount of times someone asks me a question and my response is "What?" Then immediately the answer is hilarious xD Agreed, Saf's voice is SO soothing for chill voices Jessica I'd also recommend Lessons from the Screenplay :)
Hi pals!! I'm a Lush Employee :) Lush doesn't use Gelatine in their Shower Jellies, as the entire store is Vegetarian, Cruelty Free, and almost completely Vegan. There's a special seaweed called Carrageenan which turns into a jelly-like texture when mixed with water, which is how we make our vegan jelly treats! It can be found in other products like shower gels and shower slimes as well.
I don't know anything about Lush, but I wonder, does a product that turns water into jelly/slime exist, like a bath bomb? I saw this somewhere, and if it's true, I want to buy it so bad, I want to swim in slime
Chemical Phoebe We used to carry products called Jellybombs, yes! :) unfortunately, they’ve been taken out of the permenant line, but they could make a comeback some day
I only just realised how much I love saf's voice or the way she speaks in general. Not in a weird way, but I find it very charming. Idk its very captivating. Apparently people say that she ennunciates words strangely but I didn't even realise. If anything I like the way she speaks because it's so clear and easy to hear. I also never watch videos more than 5 mins because I zone out quickly but damn saf's videos are so fun I don't even realise 30 mins passed. Anyways, the video was super fun to watch, I hope you're doing okay saf and tyler!!
I love how she speaks. It's so clear. When I wasn't comfortable with english, I used to watch her videos (and Friends, lol) to learn pronunciation and vocabulary. It's so much clearer and easier to understand! And, for beginners it could really help them !
if i ever try the ivory soap cloud, im going to put it in a bowl to get my desired shape at the bottom, it might be more fluffy since it’ll expanse upward and not outward
@@claragee8619 Jenna Marbles. She's been on RUclips for a super long time but essentially quit because of the controversy and stress of being a youtuber.
I'm just completely in awe of the dedication you and Tyler put into the videos ; for example, when you try a hack or a recipe, you never stop after the first try, you always try to give it a few chances in order to see whether it can work another way, and you always make a lot of research beforehand. This is exactly what motivated me to subscribe in the first place, and it has been a few years now I think. I do not care at all if I have to wait weeks before you upload a new video, when the content is so good. Thank you a lot !
The ivory soap thing is actually really cool. My chemistry teacher used it to help demonstrate the relationships between pressure, heat, and density (I think it was those 3. Might've been mass or something instead. Actually could've been air. It's been a while so I'm not certain) with certain types of matter.
You may want to add a warning that the fumes from the ivory soap being microwaved can be dangerous to breathe in and kids shouldn't try this at home! :) Loved the video, love your channel.
I love that even when the “hacks” don’t work you still do the hack altered until it semi-works. You can tell so much time and care are put into your videos!
And she doesn’t just go into them, no matter how dumb they seem, with the attitude that it just won’t work at all and barely even gives them a try. She gives every hack she tries a fair shot and truly puts them to the test
People are making fun of this woman’s enunciation. This EDUCATED woman, who enunciate english words the way they are SUPPOSED to be enunciated. Can we stop hating for no reason? Like if this is the only “bad” thing you can call her out on, you’re pathetic.
As much as I find soap making videos relaxing, Safiya is the only person who can get me to watch a 30 min video about soap without clicking off. Small channel here!
my friend and i made soap for a science fair project based around soap testing brands that are most effective in bacteria removal and such. we also made a diy soap to represent small businesses and such. we ended up making really cute soap gummy bears for single(ish) use soap. we used none of these things and instead found a recipe that said heat up and blend an oil/butter/grease cocktail with sodium hydroxide(strong base) then pour it into molds and let it sit for (2weeks if u use a large quantity)
Also, I think safiya finally got through her lipstick craze, and now is getting into a soap craze. Which is totally fine. I’m here for it. Future videos: mixing all of bramble berries soaps together (Franken soap) and Making the worlds largest soap cupcake (sponsored by bramble berry) 😂😂😂
These videos give me the same feeling as a kid watching food network on the tv all day. 2000s food network was the best . Safiyas narration is just soothing my soul
Saf's new set of goals in life: 1-find soap store with lots of soaps 2-Buy every soap from said soap store 3-mix every soap together to get the ultimate Franken-Soap
You are correct in that vanilla essential oils does not exist; the nature of the vanilla bean prevents the distillation process from occurring which is how the essential oils are created. Thankfully the vanilla fragrance we all love is rather easy to synthetically create. ;) Love that you did this video; it was so interesting to see you give these hacks a try!
Katie's problematic. She kinda mentioned not vaccinating her kids, homeschooling them so they didn't learn "the wrong things" and deleted comments on twitter and instagram asking if Royalty Soaps would make a soap for Black Lives Matter.
I don’t think so, if it was a half descent cinnamon roll dough it would be softer, also the classic cinnamon roll peak comes from the rising of the cinnamon rolls in the oven rather than when you roll it, if this was supposed to be a joke sorry
I was so glad that you had a clip from How To Cook that when you were talking about debunking. Anne is amazing and has put quite a bit of her cooking channel time into debunking viral hacks, mostly to arm people with the facts before they try the sometimes dangerous 'hacks' that content farms regurgitate. I hope you're doing well Safiya, I gather that this year hasn't been kind to you emotionally and I'm sorry that you've been suffering through it. I'm so happy to see you posting again and it's always reassuring to see you on instagram keeping us updated. Fingers crossed things start looking up from here for you.
8:27 lol reminds me of the Kit Kat jingle. Also when Andy on The Office was trying to remember what the jingle was for. *Gimme a break, gimme a break* *Break me off a piece of that Cloud Soap Hack*
Every like 3 months, I literally binge watch all of Safiya videos like all. I’ve being watching safiya since 2017 so I’ve watched these videos like over 15 times probably. I never get bored aswell 😭
is nobody gonna talk about how supportive Tyler is when Saf notices something she made a mistake with. like she was like "That's is not the middle"☹️ then he said "It's okay, one big boy, one small boy" ☺️
When Safiya mentioned the 'deformed croissant' I suddenly remembered I had a croissant in my bag from the day before and it had gone a little stale but man I ate that thing and enjoyed the heck out of it. Thanks for the reminder!
Cloud soap is the first stage of diy laundry soap. If you nuke the soap into a cloud, either Ivory of Fels Naptha soap, into a cloud, you can put the cloud into a food processor to get powdered soap. So it’s useful if you’re interested in making your own laundry powder.
Yes, I was shocked at the addition of cinnamon. I thought, "Why not a chilli burrito soap while you're at it?"! 😳 Imagine if someone followed this and used it to wash their face, or in the shower on other delicate areas? 😱
@@miaschu8175 well you should not really use hand soap on your face or sensitive areas (like pubic areas) especially if you have sensitive skin. Hand soap dries out your face skin very much and can imbalance the pH all over your body, namely the face and pubic area/genetilia
YES!!! I was screaming at the screen when she put the cinnamon on because I was hearing Katie in my head. Also, much love to Katie for doing the full due diligence on ALL of her videos when it comes to safety.
I love these "see if they actually work" /debunking videos more then the original hack video themselves. Not only are they just so satisfying to watch, but I learn really interesting stuff--like the cinnamon thing, to!
I appreciate the enunciation and the captions when they aren’t speaking directly to the camera. It can be difficult to understand what some RUclipsrs are saying, and I appreciate that she is thoughtful enough to enunciate for those of us who have some hearing issues. Also, may I suggest purchasing a silicone microwave mat to cover your turntable? It’s a lifesaver! ❤️
I think it's so they can claim it's not for people to try and is just for "entertainment" purposes in case of one of their hacks, like the cinnamon one, is down right dangerous and harmful
I've been keepin up with Safiya on Instagram for the last weeks and I gotta say: I am incredibly impressed at how much work it takes to create these videos! I wasn't surprised that they film and edit their videos in an extremely professional way but I would have never guessed that it takes this many steps to create a seamingly simple RUclips video. I have so much more respect for Safiya and Tyler now! Not only are they always thinking of videos that are awesome to watch, they really spend weeks to make sure they're as good as possible! We're not worthy... lmao!
amz chatz these comments bots are trying to leverage trending videos like Safiya’s to get their views by plugging their stuff in popular comments. I would just report them for the spam.
Me initially watching the video: “OH GOD THE CINNAMON! NO!!!” After watching the whole video: “OK she does address the cinnamon issue...*sigh of relief*”

In this episode of "The Internet Lied to Me", we say goodbye to the microwave. A bear gives up it's dreams of marathon supremacy. Brambleberry takes ownership of Saf's soul. And the cinnamon challenge evolves.
I love that 🤣🤣
"Brambleberry takes ownership of Saf's soul" .....is not inaccurate hahaha
Tallia conner-flores I literally love this 😂 😆
Please do this for all of her videos, this is magnificent
They need a "bad idea" microwave. I know lots of people in hack testing and science circles often end up owning one so they quite destroying their nice one.
Here's another alternative for the cinnamon: Instead of cinnamon, (which could harm ur skin) use grated or finely grated brown soap! (u can grate it urself)
You can also use poppy seeds :)

At the end there, she hit the nail on the head - they don’t care if the hacks work, and assume you probably won’t even try. Spot on.
To be honest, I've never noticed that safiya even over prounced words. Don't change how u speak just cos some people don't like it. You are you. Never change. Ps at least we can understand what saf says and she doesn't speak to fast like other you tubers.
If I talked like her I'd probably sound smarter. I talk fast and I'm pedantic, it's not a good mix. Very frustrating.
She's not over pronouncing, she's speaking as though she has a brain in her head, lol. This is how English sounds.
me, as a non english native speaker, love how safiya speaks! it helps me a lot to understand all the words clearly
wait what happened? were people making fun of her??
No one is an “expert” in language unless you’re studying linguistics. Native speakers make mistakes all the time. I speak like her as I used to be a teacher, also helps when making phone calls too . I never thought she spoke off or enunciated weird. I left her a nice msg on her blog and told her to not worry what people say as you shouldn’t change yourself because of what people say. I mean how unhappy can you be in your life that you have to make someone else feel bad about their life? I hope her mental health is getting better. She and anyone else deserves to be happy with who they choose to be.

I bet when blossom showed the cinnamon roll soap it was literally just normal cinnamon roll batter that they told us was really soap
Yeah probably
@Pamela Iris Yumul gross
Probs
Batter is the watery stuff, dough is the thick one. But I thought it was soap
@@miaschu8175 well you should not really use hand soap on your face or sensitive areas (like pubic areas) especially if you have sensitive skin. Hand soap dries out your face skin very much and can imbalance the pH all over your body, namely the face and pubic area/genetilia

Also, may I suggest purchasing a silicone microwave mat to cover your turntable? It’s a lifesaver! ❤️
These hacks are really aggravating when they don’t add specific measurements
It's so that if the hack does not work they can blame it on proportions
That's because they don't know the measurements.
I think it's so they can claim it's not for people to try and is just for "entertainment" purposes in case of one of their hacks, like the cinnamon one, is down right dangerous and harmful
Those cuts are so annoying.
