- Mony Mathew Ater shares his heartbreaking story of being deported back to South Sudan, a place where everyday life is a struggle.
After serving time in Australia he was sent back to South Sudan, a country he had never stepped foot in. He now lives day to day not knowing what will happen tomorrow, he has almost died multiple times from disease and famine.

This bloke has heart! Can tell when he said he didn’t want his daughters over in Sudan. And David bro you’ve been shadow banned
Would love to see more fellow south Sudanese on the podcast to share there stories bro. It’s tough getting deported in general I can’t relate but I can understand the struggle & it’s the toughest for south Sudanese deportees. Many of us youth have never stepped foot in that country & day to day life is hard No welfare or nothing.
Man I really appreciate your interviewing style because you seem very genuinely interested in who are talking. I feel terrible for this man, its great you are able to help tell his story.
Sad story. It's wrong, all around the World ATM. Thanks for sharing 👍 🥰. Freedom fighter's, we need more!!!. Stand up and be counted!❤️🇳🇿NZ

Single man here living in NZ getting $550 per week from NZ welfare. Damn i gotta be more grateful
Lol peasant
I was born and raised here in NZ. I've been working and paying taxes since 13 yo. I'm 49 single and work 42+hrs a week. 45km drive return from work daily. Petrol, groceries, mortgage, rates etc.... Life is a struggle for all minimum wage earners too!!!! We're alive, we should be grateful I guess?🥰
550 a fortnight?
Gotta feel for him but yeah CRIME DON'T PAY!!
Aint that the truth 🎉
If someone becomes a criminal in Australia and has spent more than half there life there they shouldn't be deported. Its madness! I have empathy for all the 501s
Yeh really? Let’s see how you’d feel if they 5 or 6 of them broke into your home at 3am & bashed you & your family rob you & steal your flash cars & leave laying in a pool of blood in front of your young children.
@@triggerhappy8872What crime did he do to be sent over?
@@elkitcho 501, Drunk driving - felony (great bodily injury or death)
@@triggerhappy8872 is that what happened to U ???
Hi David & Mony, I just watched this story and really felt I need to comment. 12 years ago my elderly father in his was walking to the local store. He was confronted, bashed and robbed for his wallet by an African gang. One of the members didn't stop there, he bashed him so many times in the head that he eventually died from his injuries.
For a long time I hated Africans and wanted revenge. I couldn't understand how anyone could be given a new life here and act in this way. In time I befriended an African man and we had a long talk about this. Long story short, I found God and forgiveness for my fathers attacker. I won't lie, as I was watching I was wondering what Mony had done. Instead of hate, I feel for him and forgive the criminals who killed my dad. he didn't die straight away so they probably don't even know what they have done.
I would have loved to ask, what is his message to young new arrivals into Australia heading into the bad path? For what its worth, if I had the power I would let Mony back to Australia for a last chance with his family. No-one should be away from their children. We all deserve a chance, but it took me years to get here. I hope my honesty does not offend. I love your show, but I think a conversation with victims can be healing too.
God Bless you all
Deport them if they commit crime.. end of story
Didn't know they deported Sudanese
What’s the chances of getting up to Morocco and finding a way over to France brother, seek asylum in France. A lot easier life in Europe bro.
Free the 501z
I mean, choices bro...🤷🏿♂️
I'm sorry to say but we are all responsible for the choices we make , he chose crime
