My Ethopian grandma once told me this story: So there was this beggar an very famous and known in the whole town old woman she begged her whole life already when she was a child,One day she got very sick instead of going to the hospital she went to a church and stayed there all day she just layed in one of the beds and let the nuns pray for her.After 3 weeks she was dead and one of the nuns found 3,000 USD hidden in her pillow. You see she could have gotten the best health care in the whole town for this monney but if she went to the hospital then she couldnt beg anymore afterwards because then people knew she had money.
"nuns found 3,000 USD" she got the money because she was not using it, its kinda stupid to think that she died becuase she wanted to beg more... where is logic in that? I heard similar story about someone in Poland, this person was beging for money whole life but from turists in are that is very popular place for vacation(so people that was giving her money would never know what she is doing with the money). This person died in barn, people was hired to cleen that barn and betwen straw there was hiden few bags of money with few milions of PLN in it and 1000PLN per month was very good money that would allow you to live very good life...

I live in Denmark, I remember when I was little where my brother and I were sharing a meal, and our parents went to bed hungry .. My mother was very ill and my father was working in a factory .. we came out of poverty when my mother after many years of illness, once again could work .. but I'll never forget it ..

I love this documentary the mom at the end made me laugh. I am Somali American here wish every mother in the world can be so comfortable with her daughter. She helped her daughter get birth control just in case the man isn’t capable of providing.

Ethiopia is not taking advantage at the resources available to them. Lots of land, great climate, enough water and political correctness, yet famine is still a problem?! They have been making good money but it's not going to Ethiopia. Many investors from different countries are swooping in and buying land(Some at the costs of threats and even Veto's). How can a country that prides itself in never being colonized allow this to happen?!

But if you really want to, just NOTE the villages names, google it on ethiopian map so you can ask how to get there. anybody would take you there for 10 dollars. but, becarefull, you might end up dead if you go alone,as you are foreigner,and nobody knows your intentions. they just want money to survive. there are thieves everywhere. The other thing easier you can do is; this family is just 1 of millions that goes to addis ababa to beg, so, you can easily meet them or people like them-in addis, get known with them in safe place, and, just help them with 5 dollars a month from where you live. but this will make them depending on you so much. SO, the best thing is, you help them to start a shop business with little as 50 dollars, then they can feed them selves for the rest of their lives investing by those 50 dollars or 100 you give them, they might just buy it food..so what you can do is, you have to provide them with food and help/give them advise to start a business. but,when you stand out there on the streets and talking with one begging family, 100s will come to you to ask you money and help. that will be difficult for you. so you might just peak a family that looks they really need help, and take them to your hotel, and make your discutions with them. OR, JUST SEND A LETTER (ONLY -BY HER NAME, THE VILLAGE SHE LIVES(IN THE VIDEO), THE REGION AND ADMINSTRATION AREA. it is easy to send letters to africa as long as you have those infos'. then you send some 20 dollars, and ask her to send you a picture of her and her children..so you are sure that is here. you can just plan a vacation in addis ababa oneday, and do this thing..if it gives peace to your soul. :) It is harsh to see those people suffer like this, because of they lack cutle or ox, or worse- a land...when the Ethiopian gov,, takes their land and rents it to foreign investors.

Get my US dollars exchanged into the local currency. Give her money to support her family for a few years and send her to school in Addis Ababa to learn what ever skill is most in demand there.

But if you really want to, just NOTE the villages names, google it on ethiopian map so you can ask how to get there. anybody would take you there for 10 dollars. but, becarefull, you might end up dead if you go alone,as you are foreigner,and nobody knows your intentions. they just want money to survive. there are thieves everywhere.
The other thing easier you can do is; this family is just 1 of millions that goes to addis ababa to beg, so, you can easily meet them or people like them-in addis, get known with them in safe place, and, just help them with 5 dollars a month from where you live.
but this will make them depending on you so much. SO, the best thing is, you help them to start a shop business with little as 50 dollars, then they can feed them selves for the rest of their lives investing by those 50 dollars or 100 you give them, they might just buy it food..so what you can do is, you have to provide them with food and help/give them advise to start a business. but,when you stand out there on the streets and talking with one begging family, 100s will come to you to ask you money and help. that will be difficult for you. so you might just peak a family that looks they really need help, and take them to your hotel, and make your discutions with them.
OR, JUST SEND A LETTER (ONLY -BY HER NAME, THE VILLAGE SHE LIVES(IN THE VIDEO), THE REGION AND ADMINSTRATION AREA. it is easy to send letters to africa as long as you have those infos'. then you send some 20 dollars, and ask her to send you a picture of her and her children..so you are sure that is here.
you can just plan a vacation in addis ababa oneday, and do this thing..if it gives peace to your soul. :)

I am somali from somaliland I have been in addis ababa for about 3 months, to be honest I never thought ethiopia is a such a poor country, most of ethiopian land is fertile and green it rains all the time, while my country is desert and even does not exist internationally. how ever the poverty in my country is nothing compare to that of ethiopia atleast its hard to see such a beutifull native women begging in the streets. Ethiopian business movement is restricted it should be open.

I found where she lives, it is called K'ajima and it is 15 miles south of Addis Ababa. Fly into Addis Ababa, get a translator and take a taxi to this place. Get my US dollars exchanged into the local currency. Give her money to support her family for a few years and send her to school in Addis Ababa to learn what ever skill is most in demand there.

The accent of these people in the video is comparable to the British accent of English vis a vis the American accent of English( English is native to Biritish as Amharic is native to Amharas in wollo-the land of Bet Amhara.
