I am an Ethiopian, the way you present is so amazing & I believe Joanna Lumley is a world treasure. The world needs to recognize her. I think she deserves a Nobel Peace Prize , period.....
I've binge watched this whole journey. This woman is amazing with an equally incredible and gentle soul. I felt like I was with her and her wonderful film crew!!
An exceptional moment and a gift given out of true faith, love and kindness. It deepens your soul to see such a gift, freely given from someone of faith to a complete stranger visiting their home. There are lessons to be learned by these people. I am so pleased I found this program on youtube.
What an absolute treat to hear and see Joanna experience the Nile, but her really exceptional delivery makes one feel as though they are there too. What a great series. Joanna Lumlely is a treasure! and I hope she does many more.
Being a Sudanese myself, I really loved seeing all of these great landscapes surrounding the River that I've never seen before, and the series gave me a new appreciation for the Nile.. Thank you very much, Mrs. Lumley

I love the background music. It's a little haunting and yet able to lift the spirit of exploration in oneself. You feel like you are part of the great exploration era of the 18th and 19th century
Joanna was the only qualified woman to journey & narrate this incredible trip! She should be recognized as a true & genuine Humanitarian of the World! Imagine what a pleasure it would be to interact with her on any part of this unique trip👍🤗 She is humble, sincere, & her gentle interactions with anyone & everyone, regardless of their race, age, social standing, etc is symbolic of her character & charisma! She is such an amazing & inspirational woman!! We are lucky to have share her life experiences with us!!!
I have watched many of these documentaries and enjoy them greatly. However, in the moments when Joanna, in Ethiopia, goes to the where the healing waters are as recognized by the Coptic Christians in Ethiopia and was subsequently blessed an baptized by the priest, that act, for me, was more than enjoyment, it was moving. The priest seemed so genuine and kind and she grateful and gracious. In these past few years, I have watched in wonderment at the faith so many have but I do not. I envy them for having faith, pretty much whatever that faith may be. I don't have faith. Maybe I have been touched by so much violence, personally, amongst other things that I have become too cynical. I, in this situation, know that I would have been as gracious and as grateful as Joanna was and would hold that moment dear, but I don't know if I would carry that with me, other than as a reminder of a lovely experience. One might think that people go there when they are at their last, so desperate to be healthy, mentally and physically but I think that healings must have happened for people to repeatedly come from such a distance with no finances. There must be a basis for why....as in Lourdes, they found that the water that does heal some is found to contain large amounts of minerals needed by us all but not managed in all our systems so there, something happens. I would love to believe it is a higher power, but I don't know and if I ever said I believed it, I would be laughed at. So vain. Anyway, I found that scene so moving that I continually come back to it and watch every movement, gesture, etc. I envy their faith and the joy they find in it. Also, the young deacon/monk....20yo and already knows what he needs to. Inspirational.
What made watching this video so enjoyable is her absolute immersive attitude. I forgot I was watching from my living room. I am an Eritrean who did not have the chance to get to know my beautiful Ethiopian cousins and Ethiopia. But I had the opportunity to live in Sudan, who are also extraordinarily kind and beautiful. Truly when you get to know Africa and it’s value you get the “flow”.
I’m from Ethiopia and thank you very much for this and all other episodes. They were released almost 11 years ago so a lot has changed to the ppl in the documentaries since then. Kind of sad but I still enjoyed them very much.

Hello Wolete Tsadiq, it is unbelievable that you went to Ethiopia tracing the origine of Blue Nile. I'm thrilled you made it. It takes a lot of bravery to do that. I hope you will go back to Ethiopia to explore more about the tremendous rich of Cultures and places. Thank you for taking the time to visit some of the places of my beloved motherland, Ethiopia.

The injera, the one you mentioned that ,it looks pancake is made of teff. Teff is the grain which is growing in Ethiopia, It has lots of minerals, like iron, magnesium, etc. If you google Ethiopian teff, it tells you briefly. So it is not just a food, it is a powerful food. Thank you for showing the "Blue Nile" for the world, but the Ethiopian, call the river "Blue Nile" is "Abbay" or in the Amharic word (አባይ ወንዝ).
I've have always admired Joanna so much, since I was teen and saw her in the James Bond's 1969 release , then followed her lates 60s and early, 70s, I loved in the Sapphire and Steel Sci-Fi saga at the end of the 70s, but this a truly new remarkable facet of hers.
