People wishing for a movable bezel are really funny. Most don’t use them and just occasionally spin them for fun or to show off. Not my style of watch, but the dial is really beautiful.

So many complain about the not rotating bezel and hardlex. To have a rotating bezel is not needing unless you want to dive, which 99% of us don’t do. And hardlex is not bad, I have watches from the 80’s with hardlex and they are still scratch free, if you are like me and have many watches this watch will not be used like an everyday beater anyway. This watch is about the great design, build quality, this combination is great on this watch. It’s very pleasing on the eye, it will be admired…
I've never had a problem with hardlex! A lot of ppl are just mindless drone having been brainwashed that you must have sapphire. Yeah it's nice but I couldn't careless...

@@PepRex The diminutive dimensions of 40mm ×46mm. 20mm and not 22mm straps. Clean dial with no day. No Crown Guards. It may not be an icon like your SKX but small watches with clean dials are by far enjoyable and a pleasure to wear everyday. The $500 price point is waaaaaay to steep tho. $200 would be ideal.

With SEIKO tho, they wear and look diminutively smaller than the stated dimensions. 40mm is a sweet sport for most sports watches. Look at the baby turtle or the skx013.

The watch in this video is meant for mens. With modern trends of big faced watches even a 40mm would be ideal for a lady. So from a marketing perspective a 40mm watch in the 21st century makes a lot of business sense. By comparison, how big is a BABY G? APPLE SMARTWATCH? Well over 40mm.....look it up.
Recently purchased the Blue Dial version, fit ,finish, bracelet rival watches costing hundreds more, looks every bit a $1000 dollar watch, prob. coulda got it too, but woulda had to been 200M screwdown w rotating bezel. Overall very satisfied , bracelet looks as good as any vtg Airking Oyster.

I heard some people are twichy and rotate them all the time. Rotating bezel is more useful than a stupid 'tachymeter' chornograph. You do a count down time or a time elapsed with a rotating bezel. Tachymetere you need to know your distance in order to calculate speed.... it's all usesless really lol
I have the open heart one with cream face. I love it. I know it doesn't have a rotating bezel or sapphire crystal but looks ace. Swapped strap for a grey green leather. Love it.
This is a recreation of a mid-1960s Seiko model. The bracelet is much higher quality than I would have expected. 5 BAR water resist is fine, but they need to phase out Hardlex sooner rather than later. That's a deal-breaker for me. One decent scratch and it's basically ruined for a WIS.
Hardlex and fixed bezel are weird choices for this cause it's absolutely stunning. Very reminiscent of the CW vintage divers. I was torn between one of them and the Oris big crown pointer on the BOR with red dial. Went with the Oris in the end, very happy. This Seiko with sapphire and rotating bezel would be a great buy for 500buck
Agreed. Atleast if it had sapphire I'd be much more likely to buy it. Bezel I could potentially live without. A screw down crown would also fit the bill. Design is great but I'll pass.

The hardlex glass instead of sapphire is a bummer but still looks great on wrist with a 12mm thickness and 40.8mm diameter. The 20mm lug-to-lug width also gives the watch a classy appearance. Overall happy with my purchase! Only $600 AUD. Blue watch buying complete (for now).
This is a cool one one for sure. Tried them earlier. There is also a version with the rotating bezel. I’m pretty sure you reviewed it Rob. The Tokyo 1964 reissue from last year. It’s a bit larger but very cool.

Seiko charges more than 500 dollars for a watch with 4R movement and a Hardlex crystal. Can someone explain what exactly makes this watch to cost two times more than some Seiko 5 models. I guess better bracelet and a signed crown. At least, they could have brought it to Seiko 5 specs with a 100 m WR.
Agreed, I have many watches with NH35/36 movements and sapphire crystals that range from $100 to $300. The finish on these watches is comparable to my Seiko watches.

I’m tired of people complaining about the lack of sapphire crystal.. Hardlex is much better but you want to sound like watch connoisseurs but you’re definitely not. During a strong impact, a sapphire crystal will more likely shatter compared to Hardlex crystal.
Your sole stated basis for asserting that Hardlex is “much better” than sapphire necessarily presumes, falsely, that shatter resistance is more important to consumers than scratch resistance.
Problems with this watch:bezel wouldn't turn, bracelet does not taper more than 2 mm, no saphire crystal, hollow lugs, no quick adjustment of bracelet. Otherwise looks nice.
This watch has an identity crisis. Is it a retro diver? No. Is it a dress watch? Not really. But Seiko finally decided to use solid links/end links and milled clasps. The finishing still look cheap, with fully polished case sides. One thing Seiko consistently got right on their presage line, is the size and how it wears on wrist. Just small and thin enough to look good. I would never buy it but I think this is good value if you can get one below $400.
I refuse to pay over 300 dollars now if it's a mineral crystal. If micro brands can do it then seiko with their buying power and all in house manufacturing can easily do it. The only seiko I am willing to buy right now is The Land Tortoise because the specs are equal to price.

Most people will use the function. Its litteraly a timer. very usefull. And its fun to play with as well.

I have a sea urchin with hardlex which has been more or less worn 24/7 for the last 5 years and has no scratches on crystal.

Is the 24-hour hand always linked to the main hour hand, or can it be adjusted separate to indicate a second time zone (caller GMT)?

Hardlex and 4R for $500+ is sadly a no go in today's watch market. Sapphire, 6R or both.
Sapphire and 6r35 is a minimum for Seiko for me. Anything below that is overpriced compared to the market.

you can easy replace the hardlex, just buy a 20$ Press, a 6$ Crystal placing tool and a 10$ acrylic crystals set.
