  • Hi there people,
    Today I am pleased to show you the Seiko Presage SRPG09J. This is a 60's style diver-inspired style watch from the famed "Presage Range".
    The watch has a diameter of 40.8mm, Lug top to bottom of 47mm & 12mm thickness.
    Whilst the watch is dive-inspired, it only has a water resistance of 50m ...so don't go swimming with this watch!! You have been warned!
    The watch is powered by Seiko's 4R 21,600 BPH movement which has a 41 hour power reserve.
    The watch comes on a black nato strap with a signed buckle & the case is stainless steel with an aluminium bezel & domed hardlex crystal.
    Huge thanks to Starbuy for loaning us this watch. If you are interested in purchasing it then please visit them here:

    Thanks again for supporting the channel & please wear your watches in the best of health!

    These 50m comments, like half these people can even swim without arm bands..

    All those moaning about water resistance and no screw down crowns, please note, THIS IS NOT A DIVE WATCH. I don’t think Seiko make ISO compliant Presage dress watches. Want a dive watch? Go prospex.

      For the price it should have a higher water resistance when many of their cheaper watches do. Can’t even swim with it 😂

    So, basically, a Seiko 5 with half the WR at double the price.

    • @natasaragih9970
      @natasaragih9970 3 года назад +2

      That's quite bad tbh. It doesn't justify the price at all imo.

      Nope. Point missed, deliberately, as is often the way when it comes to Seiko.

      Hardlex, 4R35, 50mt WR, unspectacular finishing (certainly not better than the SRPE series)… what did I miss ?

      @@giusepperocchi2979 The finishing is palpably higher if you compare a £440 Presage to a £290 5. The case is more refined, the crown engraved and the bracelet nicer. The dial and hands are obviously more highly finished too. Still, if the £150 difference (at list price - both are available discounted) is a big deal, get the cheaper one.

    Prices on these are all over the place. In Oz I've seen $500 - $1400 (which is simply insane). I like it, but not enough to pay that much.

    I thought all brands selling a watch as “water resistant” had to comply with ISO 22810:2010 ?

  • @sardendibs

    If the indices weren't applied but just painted on, I'd be a buyer. The applied metal doesn't suit a retro "diver".

    Dive inspired? So not obviously Crown Chronograph inspired, then?

    I love it but the 50m is a massive disappointment....for £400quid though, it's worth hating imo

    • @SampleTracks2224
      @SampleTracks2224 3 года назад +1

      Hate makes the internet go around after all, right? Since it's a casual watch with a fixed bezel, I don't see the problem with 50m. Seiko's 50m at least means you can go swimming.

    • @TheWatchChannelAU
      @TheWatchChannelAU  3 года назад

      I agree mate, it's a bit of a flaw in the watches value proposition. 50m is not recommended for any kind of immersion.....that sucks because if it had 100ml, it would have been a home run!!

      Modern 'flakes won't take a holiday in humid weather with at least a 500m WR rating and a fart valve. Extra points for seal-checking every 12 weeks!

    Seriously 50m WR is not the issue, cuz its a stunning watch. But no, I'm not paying retail, much rather hunt for a used one

    Can the strap be changed to a stainless steel bracelet? Any links to any compatible ones please?

    A non-screwdown crown is a feature not a bug on a dress watch.

    • @TheWatchChannelAU
      @TheWatchChannelAU  Год назад

      What benefit does non screw down offer? I can understand the convenience factor but asides from that?...

    • @dant.6364
      @dant.6364 Год назад +2

      @@TheWatchChannelAU You are constantly adjusting the time on automatic watches and screw down crowns make that even more of a hassle especially when you consider the risk of cross threading. Screw down crowns make more sense on a quartz watch that you might adjust once a month or so. Regardless, it is unnecessary on a dress watch.

    50 meter WR?? What the hell was Seiko thinking?? For that price, was it so hard for Seiko to make it at least 100 meter WR?? Seiko already had field watches from their Seiko 5 collections which are much cheaper while having 100 meter WR, so it doesn’t make any sense.
