Just not very accurate. When it swings 40 seconds a day, that's too much. Can't underatand why Seiko won't use their excellent quartz movements instead of a questionable auto movement.
@@ms.annthrope415 Seiko makes many watches with quartz movements which are more accurate but not absolutely so. They also make mechanical movements that are preferred by some who, believe it or not, are actually able to cope with some level of daily inaccuracy without complaining about it. Quartz watches need to be opened periodically for a new battery, which has other implications. If you are a true misanthrope I wonder why you are even reading and commenting here.
Seiko understood that people simply like to look at the watch, primarily the dial. They don't need to mimic other designs as long as their own are beautiful. And they take somewhat of a shotgun approach to watch design, release different versions in different markets and see what works. In the end the customer is right.
Seiko are doing a huge service to the entire industry by (1) giving people such high levels of design and finish at accessible prices, (2) pushing other brands to offer more and innovate. That King Seiko is a real sleeper of a watch... totally catches the mood of the original design, totally Seiko design language, but very distinctly a King Seiko and not Grand Seiko. What I love about Seiko is it's a classless brand. You can turn up at a swanky event in a Presage, or at any sports event in a Prospex, and no one will think you're a jerk with too much money or too little taste, and equally no one will look down on you. And for the grumblers, sure the cheaper automatic movements are built to a price, and I'd take a few seconds inaccuracy every month in exchange for wearing a watch of distinction. My only nitpick with that collection is the Astron, and the "GPS SOLAR" text on the face... totally unnecessary, and takes away from the overall presentation. Full disclosure: Seiko fan boy since the 90s.
The King Seiko is magnificent. It’s design language is very interesting and edgy, but at the same time very well balanced. When I started collecting watches it was all about the Swiss, but now 15 years later I’m on team Japan!
The best thing is that King Seiko has a HUGE vintage catalouge and there are plenty watches in great condition out there to buy at a bargain price. Bought myself a KS56 from 1973 last year. It runs at +1 per day and looks like a brand new watch. You just feel the pure dedication to beat the swiss at their own game while wearing these vintage King Seikos. Just amazing watches. I highly recommend you to buy one if you haven`t already. Got mine for around 400 dollars
The Green Zone is a great simple watch! Yes, a tad small for most gents. But for us with smaller wrists, this is a winner. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately for casual walks
The jacket you refer is the MA1 flight jacket, which has been around since the 1960’s I have an original USAF Vietnam used version from 1967…..a very cool jacket
Cocktail Time is a vastly underrated line. While quite elegant they are surpisingly versatile with the right strap combinations. I have the Ice Blue on a black crocodile strap and love it.
I’m glad someone is promoting decent watches especially when there are so many of the usual Ali Express YT apostles now busy on YT flogging their appointed store affiliates products obviously having had AE put pressure on them to push hard with their offerings. I’d rather save some money and buy a good quality Seiko myself. Nice reviews! Cheers
On the subject of Seiko Astron's updating themselves when you change timezones, they need to be manually instructed to do so, by holding a button for 3 seconds. They will however automatically set their time each day, once exposed to bright light, without user intervention. But that does not include a timezone change. (Time sync only requires syncing with 1 GPS satellite, whereas timezone checking requires receiving GPS radio signals from multiple satellites) I have an SSH135J, which I tested as being fast by about 0.1 seconds per day (quartz timekeeping), while the GPS function is disabled. So under normal circumstances when the GPS functionality is enabled, it seems that I can be assured that my Astron will always be within 0.1 seconds of realtime. Pretty happy with that!
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Seiko is an absolutely user friendly brand for people who love having a tool watch, I bought a King turtle recently, and 22:08 find that Seiko has been listening and developing the entries models to have sapphire crystal, The ceramic bezel as standard on turtle is a big step.
Really loving my sarb035, dresses up, does casual, understated and classy. My cocktail time is the Japanese market one at 40mm, would prefer at 38mm, perfect size.
I have the Seiko 5 midfield sports around 10 years still works fine all I have had to do was change the strap . Ive always had a Seiko since I was a kid .
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose NKUWAN every time honestly
Some beautiful watches in this video. 19.00 minute mark reminds me of the Tudor 1926 Opaline Blue hands. Then the next Maroon one reminds me of the Vitreous Enamel " anOrdain mark 1 Plum Fume" . Great Homages Seiko.
Gentleman I've been listening to you for years first time I've seen you a video of your faces Tom you and I have the same barber, if you know what I mean. Thank you for all the great content I thoroughly enjoy your banter and all the great data! Keep up the good work!
Really enjoyed the small window into your creative process regarding the NAF NAF jacket. Pure synergy. 😊 On the other hand, would Tom care to elaborate on what a "midnight peeper" entails?
I am definitely a Seiko fanboy. I got the Arnie and also the SSC572P Seiko Coutura Perpetual Solar Chronograph. Love the strap design of the Coutura. Itching to get the Seiko S Bruce Lee, and would definitely like to get an Astron Nexter (if I have a bit more cash to spend)
This is now my favourite watch channel on RUclips , such great content and done superbly, well done sir and I got my favourite watch at MaMaCoo,it hasn’t left my wrist for weeks
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Love seiko. Great watches. Great quality, won't break the bank to get a quality watch and won't be a target for theives unlike more expensive brands especially one beginning with an R.
In a war-zone you have three zone categories. Red being the most dangerous, amber bring an in between zone and green is generally where base is, or a ‘safe zone’. I dont know if that was Seikos intention with the name of the watch, but having a military inspired field watch might suggest that.
NAF NAF bomber jackets!!! Yes, now there is a flashback. Well in!! Have not thought about that in decades!! Meanwhile Avirex bomber jackets were what we wore!!
What I think is…wow, no real arguments about this list, guys: yes, it's nice that my 5 Sports GMT 003 made the cut (as it should), but the others on the list are also worthy…and that 30mm Presage caught me totally by surprise, new movement and all. The Prospex GMT in green is seriously mouth-watering. Good work all around, one-liners included!
GMT has more of a Jubilee like bracelet than a beads of rice. 6:34 One of my favorites to wear as well. Wish I had gotten the orange one, but blue is more EDC.
The Seiko 5 Midfield Sports looks good, and simple: like me. I haven't seen this watch face to face, but I wonder if this fit with social dress, like lawyer.
Green Zone was the area in Baghdad that was "safe". It was a 10sq KM area that was super highly fortified and where you did not have to wear your battle rattle. Source: Me, OIF veteran.
There really are some beautiful watches there! Love the Seiko Presage 'Cocktail' range of gents watches! I have become a bit of a Seiko fan since I learned more about them! It wasn't all that long ago when I honestly thought that as far as quality goes, Seiko were in about the same category as Sekonda......Sorry Seiko! I massively misjudged you!
I bought this popular video watch from MaMaCoo , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
Just bought my first arnie and I love it. But the new one you showed is nice to look at but its not true to the arnie DNA style wise. While you showed the new model the outgoing model that is true to the arnie dna can be had supercheap in deals. I paid only $299 AUD ($156 Pound Sterling) for mine brand new. So I would say to anyone after one to look out for cheap prices on runout stock and get a true arnie style watch. Also have you seen the new limited edition for the aussie market only Seiko Presage LE SRPK50J. It's a stunner. I have one ordered. Only 1000 will be made.
If you enjoy the traditional reviews, those are on Friday and Sunday. For podcasts, Tuesday and Thursday.
The Seiko 5 is the best watch for your money by far. In house movement, great design, 100m WR, easy to read. Great watches.

I came to read funny comments from over sensitive Rolex fanboys, and I was not disappointed.
That's because they're prima donna's.
I love my Blueberry GMT, no photo or video can capture the full beauty of this watch

😅
You guys are great, i love the quick, intelligent humor. If one blinks, one will miss it
My son has a Seiko 5 and he absolutely loves. It's a great starter watch.
Seiko are doing a huge service to the entire industry by (1) giving people such high levels of design and finish at accessible prices, (2) pushing other brands to offer more and innovate.

King seiko with 6R movement LOL
Totally agree with you 👍
The New King Seiko watches have a cheap movement and the word Seiko written twice on the dial. The old King Seiko had neither of those "attributes".

How much
Love the look of the sharp edge… oh, and the blueberry. Some really nice-looking choices in this video.
Seiko is King
Love them and the Mods . Too ‘❤
The jacket you refer is the MA1 flight jacket, which has been around since the 1960’s
I have an original USAF Vietnam used version from 1967…..a very cool jacket
The non-limited edition Seikos are now the rarest watches they make.

Such a vast catalog, and a nice concise review of its highlights. No small feat - many thanks!
Great video and I'm fine with clickbait title. Please do a similar video with not so popular/underappreciated Grand Seikos

If they gave this guys a dollar for every funny joke they say they would live in debt for eternity. Apart from that great video, i love Seiko
Seiko makes some beautiful watches alright. I love them!
Cool video presentation. Seiko deserves this.
can we get a part 2 to this, loved it !
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
The jackets were MA1 's by schott or surplus, naf naf were the high street version.
Love your humor and the watches presented are not just copy paste of what everyone else recommends, which most other channels do.
Seiko is an absolutely user friendly brand for people who love having a tool watch, I bought a King turtle recently, and 22:08 find that Seiko has been listening and developing the entries models to have sapphire crystal, The ceramic bezel as standard on turtle is a big step.
You didn´t include the Seiko 5 DressKX?! SRPE57K1 for under £300 is a stunning watch!
I'm wearing I Seiko 5 like a boss rn.
Really loving my sarb035, dresses up, does casual, understated and classy. My cocktail time is the Japanese market one at 40mm, would prefer at 38mm, perfect size.
Seiko make gorgeous dials!!!
Tom’s commentaries were hilarious! I had a lot of fun.
17:03 I hear your anxiety and I concur. Its like an engine warning light on a car 🫣
Well I still love my Kinetic Titanium 5M42, (even after 2 new capacitors) - simple understated looks, light weight and stylish.
Good one Tom, conkers... I may be the only person in North America who knows what a conker is!
I have the Seiko 5 midfield sports around 10 years still works fine all I have had to do was change the strap . Ive always had a Seiko since I was a kid .

Terrific video. Love that you covered a ladies watch.
I’m liking the swizzle stick seconds hands on the cocktail watches.
Beautiful, choices WATCHFINDER !!

I have the translucent teal dial SRPJ45 Time Sonar tribute…it’s fantastic! I finally know why so many love the SKX case, too. Wears great!
I have three Seikos, only because I was given two. The original is 40 years old and doing just fine.
Gentleman I've been listening to you for years first time I've seen you a video of your faces Tom you and I have the same barber, if you know what I mean. Thank you for all the great content I thoroughly enjoy your banter and all the great data! Keep up the good work!
The two most commonly used languages in the world except one of them. Brilliant!

100% correct . Supurb watches at a very reasonable prices
Had to get the bruce lee. Reminded me of 14 yr old me at the mall buying ninja stars. It's great!
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
What's wrong with a Coutura? I've had one for several years and it still looks and operates perfectly perfect.
Gotta say that Seiko quartz deserves more space. The seiko SUR377 (and similar), for one.
Love seiko. Great watches. Great quality, won't break the bank to get a quality watch and won't be a target for theives unlike more expensive brands especially one beginning with an R.

was eyeing that green zone months ago. definitely think tom got that right. i think field watches might be trending
That first one looks great, the black one.
NAF NAF bomber jackets!!! Yes, now there is a flashback. Well in!! Have not thought about that in decades!! Meanwhile Avirex bomber jackets were what we wore!!
I have a Seiko 5 bought for 50 pounds sterling ten years ago. Inflation must be bad if the cheapest is now 200 pounds sterling. Or price gouging?
Another great video by Andrew and "The Midnight Peeper"
What I think is…wow, no real arguments about this list, guys: yes, it's nice that my 5 Sports GMT 003 made the cut (as it should), but the others on the list are also worthy…and that 30mm Presage caught me totally by surprise, new movement and all. mechanical movements don't make sense to me despite the hype
So glad to see a couple of Quartz models in the list.
The Flieger is great too!
The Seiko 5 Midfield Sports looks good, and simple: like me. I haven't seen this watch face to face, but I wonder if this fit with social dress, like lawyer.
Love everything about the King Seiko style, ...shame it can't tell the time. +25 to -15 seconds per day, WTF?
Did you forget the new Alpinist with green dial and gold numerals? Or the GMT version of it?
Green Zone was the area in Baghdad that was "safe". It was a 10sq KM area that was super highly fortified and where you did not have to wear your battle rattle.

Can't dispute what you said, but I believe it has other uses too. In this case I bet it is a more environmental meaning.
Have you guys done a video on the Junghans Max Bill range before? I'd love to hear a good review of that.
Can you have too many Seikos? If so I'm a bad boy.
Seiko watches are like Hondas. Japanese, affordable, reliable, and lasts forever!
Really enjoyed this. With some great watches shown.
Worth doing the same for citizen?
Ignore the haters. Carry on.
I bought this popular video watch from MaMaCoo , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
would be nice to see some 41mm and up, we went from way too big Invicta's to too small 35mm watches.
I’ve just bought a Seiko Presage GMT and I’ve swapped the bracelet with a leather strap.
What was the price of the Bruce Lee watch?..You didn't say for some reason.
Just bought my first arnie and I love it. But the new one you showed is nice to look at but its not true to the arnie DNA style wise. Also have you seen the new limited edition for the aussie market only Seiko Presage LE SRPK50J. It's a stunner. I have one ordered. Only 1000 will be made.
Really. Better than Rolex, yes especially if you don’t have a Rolex!
interesting selection. I am rather surprised by the lack of diversity choices. I would definitely nominate the spb143.
SKX or SSK?
I have given up trying to my Seiko to the health app. The Seiko GPS is really glitchy.
I am also concerned for the anxiety caused "...the time I locked myself out of my microwave." !! 🤣🤣🤣 17m00s
That Seiko in the thumbnail looks just like the Timex Expeditions. Which one came first ?
I a spotting a citizen ecodrive . Since 2009 ticking like the 1st day without problem. 😂
Have you seen the SRPK50J!?
260 £ greatly overpriced for the seiko started with, got it for 180 usd, that being the one that looks the same and came put a few years ago
Not having the SRPD on this list is criminal
How about a video on best looking movements?
"Alex" the YT French cooking guy wears this Seiko 5 Green Zone in all his videos. I can imaging the beating it takes.
why not the snkl83?
Watchfinder try not to put "better than Rolex" in the thumbnail challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
I swear they do it on purpose at this point just to read our comments complaining about it lol
well, honesty is the best policy
You probably missed all the other videos where we didn't
@@watchfinder You guys do it regularly lol
Every watch I can afford is better than a Rolex😊
How much was a similar watch from Seiko 5 years ago? I believe they were about 50 pounds.
I love Seiko.
Gentlemen, the "Green Zone" was the multi-national area in Baghdad.
In the book there is a whole chapter on packing for the trip.
£260 for a Seiko 5. You used to pick them up for £100 a couple of years ago
MA-1 / MA-2: Alpha Industries.
Love my SROG41K
Seiko Alpinist - "The watch will be fine after 200M..." (I'm not so sure about the diver though...) lol 😅😅🤣😂
Love the GPHG vs Oscar but 😂
