One of the biggest things that help me maintain length is the “search and destroy” method for trims. Every month or so, I will go through the ends of my hair and cut off every split end I can find with Revlon hair scissors from Target. I haven’t gone to the salon for trims since 2021 and I don’t feel the need to. If my ends start to look uneven and thin, I’ll trim off a centimeter or 2 off the bottom but that’s rarely needed.
That’s an interesting tip! I’ve been debating going to the salon for a trim or starting to trim at home.. Aren’t you worried that by trimming every month you may eventually cut more than if you go to the salon once/twice a year? And how do you ensure the cut is even?
@@cezara_robu I individually cut off the split ends and the hairs that are looking a little frazzled at the end. It might be more spaced out than every month, depending on if I heat styled a lot that month, ect. The only time I cut more than one strand at a time is if my hair starts to look see-through at the ends when it’s all hanging down. Then I’ll pull it forward in sections and trim off only about 1 cm to make it more blunt. There are tutorials on YT for how to trim your own hair but most of them want you to do ponytails or completely change the cut of your hair. I am very conservative with it and work in small sections with the areas I’m not cutting out of the way. With point cutting and overdirecting, it all blends together pretty well. My hair is also wavy and usually in a bun/braid so that helps camouflage uneven ends lol. In my experience, salons will give you a trim all over but they’ll take off more than I would and they don’t get all the split ends that might be higher up in your hair. The way I do it, I can get all of them individually. Sorry for the brain dump but I hope that helps 😁

Completely agree! Hair strands get thinner with age, the growth slows down and hormonal changes occur that make it more “difficult”, but many of the tips I gave are about protecting the hair that’s already out from breaking which should be universal to any age group 🥰
No most ppl have poor hair care and diets. Not too mention the food in American is bad quality and many states have hard water. No matter your genetics you can always maximize the potential health of your hair
Hello beautiful, I have curly hair and I usually wash my hair once a week, I apply leave in conditioner and oil at the ends of my hair after I get out of the shower. But I was wondering Should I brush it everyday or this will cause more damage? What type of brush should I use when it’s dry? And Do I have to use leave in conditioner every time I brush my hair or this will be too much ? Thank you beautiful 🥰
Hi darling thank you for watching💕 If you have curly hair and brush it between washes, i assume you don’t like to wear your curls styled? Brushing curls dry can be be more damaging than wet, yes. I would recommend only brushing it after the shower when it’s still wet, then applying your products (in your case leave-in and oil, although a gel/mousse is great for more hold) and avoid touching it until next wash. I wouldn’t apply leave-in every day, or any product so often as it can lead to product buildup 💕
I often hear people saying that you have to brush curly hair while it's wet with conditioner but for me personally when I brush my hair dry it is really not that hard (my hair does not get tangled so much). They say that brushing on dry hair is damaging but I really don't know if it makes a big difference with my hair. I like to brush my hair dry so I can massage easily oil into my scalp before washing my hair. Would you say that I should start to only brush on wet hair or stick to what i already do ? Your hair is so pretty btw 😍
Not all hair is the same, so do what works best for you! Both wet brushing and dry brushing have their pros and cons.. Wet hair is fragile and some people suggest to brush it while it's dry to avoid breakage, while others say for curly hair dry brushing is actually worse because it promotes breakage.. I think that as long as you have some conditioner/oils on it and you can get through tangles fairly easily without pulling at it too hard, then either/or is good :) Thanks for the compliment!!
Every 5-7 months shouldn't be too damaging if when you're straightening it you ensure that the heat tool isn't at the maximum heat or that you don't hold it on a section for way too long. Technique is very important but straightening it twice a year is still much better than daily or weekly 🤗
Your hair looks truly beyond gorgeous!!!! I’m super in awe of your incredibly beautiful curls in every single way! ❤❤❤❤❤ Also, I am sooooo happy that I found your channel. So excited to be a new subbie of yours! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for these tips. I've been growing my hair put for a year now, and it has been a long journey. Would love to see your routine. I know everyone's hair is different, but it would be helpful to see how you use your products.
I feel like my ends are very splited but I'm so damn scared to do a big chop and lose all the process I've made! I've read on other places people recommending doing regular trims instead but others complain it takes too long and they prefered to chop off directly. What is recommended??
It really depends on how far up your split ends traveled. To prevent them from splitting higher, i would cut them where the hair hasn't yet split. But not everyone is ready for a bigger chop, so don't feel pressure to cut everything at once. So smaller trims are always a good option 💕
I love braiding my hair to protect it. It really minimise the tangles that get in my hair which in turn makes brushing easier. Brushing gently from the bottom is The Way to Go. My hair is now the longest it’s ever been, it’s just on my tailbone and the ends still have bleach damage. 😅 Im too chicken to do a big chop, and i don’t regret it.
Don't feel pressured to do a big chop! It will help the overall appearance and health but not everybody is ready to give up the length. I definitely agree, braiding is amazing and brushing from bottom to the top is key 👌

Sorry to hear this - sometimes hair texture can change as a result of hormonal changes. I would try to look back at what was happening around the time it stopped holding the curl, because so many things can affect our hair.. I would recommend a strong hold gel to hold the curl in shape for longer!
If youre experiencing bald spots and excessive thinning I’d recommend seeing a dermatologist or trichologist as it could be a form of alopecia or other underlying reasons.. Wishing you the best and don’t give up! 🤍🙏🏽
