    Summary
    1. No bleach
    2. No heat, and if you use a diffuser or hair dryer lowest setting
    3. Trim the dead ends/split ends of your hair or the breakage will continue traveling up the hair strand
    4. Moisturizing shampoo, some shampoo can dry you out so the extra hydration will help out
    5. Clear off the scalp, she recommended sparingly using a clarifying shampoo and also a scalp brush to bring up build up 8:11 (I also use a scalp brush I agree they slap)
    6. Pre-poo treatment, put oil on the hair to detangle and protect hair from the shampooing actions and chemicals (This is the first new one to me I am looking forward to trying it out)
    6a. tangles are not good for hair growth they are a slippery slope to hair breakage
    7. Use good-quality leave-in conditioner (YES YES 100%) it keeps the hair hydrated and IMO makes it easier to refresh throughout the week
    8. Regular deep conditions - she says at least once a week, keep in that hydration (i need to do this one)
    9. Hair growth oil (idk if the oil i do is hair growth particularly, but shes right to massage hair oil into your scalp to stimulate the blood flow which leads to more nutrients going to that area, so better hair growth. I massage black castor and a lighter one alternatively so i don't overload my scalp)
    10. Wear a bonnet, honestly i just recommend this to everyone, i gave my brother my other one and his acne cleared up soooooo
    -in general satin/silk hair accessories for less pulling + low tension hair styles
    -give your curls a break, you don't have to brush curly/coily hair every day. Just let her chill
    -dont lay your edges ( I dont do this and it drives my mom crazy, but my hairline is crisp so you knowwwwww)
    Long time watcher, thank you for giving my the courage to do the big chop 4 years ago, my hair has never been healthier!! Keep it up!!

    I don't agree with the heat damage one unless you are using heat on your hair everyday and not using heat protection or have a good healthy hair routine. But your right about leaving in conditioner its a must!

    • @brianawhittaker8152
      @brianawhittaker8152 9 месяцев назад +13

      I think she's talking about the ppl who crank the heat up too high and they hold it in one spot for too long. Even if you do it every once in awhile you can still make a mistake bc straightening is nothing more than melting your hair into another shape so its not that far fetched that you could accidentally damage it even if it's every once in awhile that you do it. But you're right it's definitely easier to damage it if it's done all the time.

      Agree, there are PLENTY of curly girls who use heat every month or 2 weeks and have hair down to their waist / butt. It’s all about using proper products if your going to do that

      @@brianawhittaker8152 I think she meant straightening like twice per year or very little . Maybe she needs to clarify though because I think we are probably all hearing different things.

    I've been a subscriber for along time and absolutely love your hair and your channel! My question for you is how to keep single strand knots and even split ends when your hair is in a natural state (curly)? I became a natural some years ago and was able to grow my hair out long ...however leaving my hair dry in a curly state overnite and even the next day I'd have to wet my hair and put more leave in to get it styled again... so much manipulation and tangles galore it was to much work so I started doing braids then twists through out the week for me was protective styling. I can't do wash and gos...my hair is to curly for that. 3c? I've recently started doing using the Rev Air on the lowest heat with heat protectant and no flat ironing and was seeing damage ssk and split ends...which I started trimming my hair to catch the damage and oiling the mid and ends with a light oil . Grapeseed oil is great for this, Idk.. I love how my curly hair looks but in the winter I think its better to keep my hair stretched and protected. Styling curly hair in twists and with leave in conditioner. Only on special occassions leaving my hair out in curls. I also been doing extreme trims. We will see how this goes! Thanks for this very informative video. Here's to the New Year and excited to see how we all can retain healthy length! 😁

    Are raking the leave in conditioner in your hair scrunching it into the hair instead of brush styling? I notice when I rake the product it's pulling my hair out.

    Once you cut off damaged hair. How often do you plan to trim the ends

    • @brianawhittaker8152
      @brianawhittaker8152 9 месяцев назад +2

      That varies from person to person bc some ppl's hair might need more or less trimming. You just have to take really good care of it and make sure you keep an eye on it. Definitely avoid heat, hair dye, bleach, back combing, and be gentle when you brush your hair. Also take vitamins, exercise atleast three times a week, drink lots of water, learn your hair type so you know what products to get and develop a good routine. Then just be patient everyone wants to get to the destination but enjoy the journey too. It takes alot of patience and discipline to take really good care of your hair. I hope this helps you and good luck 🍀

      For myself it’s once every six to twelve months. Cut my waist length curly hair to shoulder length. My goal is to get back to waist length curly again.
      Once you have the length you want you’ll know it is time to maintain for its shape.

    I have little knots that form on my individual strands of hair and I have no clue how it happens 😅 I’ve heard that they’re fairy knots but what’s the reason they happen and how can I get rid of them?

    • @brianawhittaker8152
      @brianawhittaker8152 9 месяцев назад +1

      Do you use conditioner everyday? It sounds like a hydration issue maybe. Bc tangles wrap around themselves and one of the things that can cause it is not conditioning enough. My hair is very prone to getting them so when I started conditioning it more often I stopped getting them as much.

    • @mysticalselenq
      @mysticalselenq 9 месяцев назад

      @@brianawhittaker8152 I don’t use conditioner daily I normally just leave my hair in protective styles throughout the week. Thank you though should I start conditioning throughout the week since my hair is likely lacking hydration?

    • @carmelacristoforo262

      There is no way to get rid of fairy knots except to cut them out...once they form that strand of hair is damaged and will break off. I'm still trying to figure out how I got so many of them in my hair...I think curl defining is 1 reason. I never noticed them until I started wearing my hair curly and after my hair grew long. I think it's just the nature of our curly hair. Leaving your wet hair in a curly state to dry seems like some strands may curl up on itself and form knots...just a guess. Dryness is also an issue. For me it's hard to tell whats happening when my hair is curly. I can see damage when my hair is straightened and do my trims.

    • @brianawhittaker8152
      @brianawhittaker8152 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@mysticalselenq Sorry I just now saw this I would condition it anytime it starts feeling kind of dry. Bc curly hair is very absorbent it's like a sponge. You can't get rid of fairy knots completely but you can reduce the amount. I had those little individual ones when my hair was really dry. So I'm just speaking from my own experience. I hope this helps.

      Do at PART of your wash routine! Use a deep conditioning product instead of your regular conditioner. Leave it for half an hour or so. Then rinse and style as usual :)
