    michigan1777, no problem. D-Nice is a long term valued friend and we did work together for 7+ years as D-Nice helped us as a key presenter and calibrator for the TVs in the TV Shootout and he also calibrated many hundreds of plasma TVs for us that went to our Nationwide clients.

    Haha ! Yeah did catch that and remember saying to myself, “D-Nice doesn’t work for Robert Zohn.” They’re just associates. I’m sure it’s all good man. I do have a question though about that video and the settings. So, are those settings considered a calibration ? And after you pinched in those recommended settings by D-Nice, so you still use the Advanced Contrast Enhancer to increase peak brightness ? And with it on, does the picture deviate that much from the settings ?

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV  3 года назад

      They're calibrations for his specific panel. I can say though advanced contrast enhancer can still be used to boost brightness. I was doing that for some hdr/dolby vision content and it was a large improvement in overall full field brightness with his settings. I recommend giving it a try. Colors were not really impacted either

      @@SpencersStuffTV Ok so to be clear, even with his settings, still use the Adv. Contrast Enhancer for the added peak brightness right ? Because I noticed you mentioned it in past tense. I “was.” So that threw me off. Sorry. Haha

      @@SpencersStuffTV awesome. I’ll be calling Robert in September to get my hands on the A90J. I won’t be able to hold off until Black Friday. And I’ll just have him to the calibration and he does his QC also so I know I’ll be getting a good panel. Thanks for the reply man and look forward to supporting you. Let’s keep growing.

    D-Nice LOL?
    that dude is an joker.
    spends way too much time with the inferior OLEDs.
    he also thinks that you can calibrate an OLED to show an reference image.
    he should put up his 500M so he can see that thats not possible.
    Calibrators that doesnt use an reference display and only goes by the numbers are dangerous.
    that guy has lost it.

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV  3 года назад +2

      Considering value electronics stands behind him in the comments below, I'm good with that. And we already know no consumer oled can match a mastering monitor except maybe Panasonic. But even those have their own issues 🤷🏻‍♂️ the tv looks great after applying his settings and I'm very happy with it. Many calibrators don't have reference displays sitting around to compare to so they have to follow the numbers. If this is considered "dangerous" you may need a reevaluation of what danger is

      most calibrators I know of dont perceptually match their display to a reference display...

      @@SpencersStuffTV good thing dnice has access to a hx310 lol he's been around plenty of reference monitors. This guy has no clue. The guy sits there with samsung in sdr with peak brightness on high. Wants to sit here talking about reference. He doesn't even use his tvs as they should be used himself. Doesn't even. Realize most sdr content is done at 100 to 200nits.yet oled can't be reference? He also doesn't understand dynamic tone mapping or the eotf curve. He just thinks oled tvs can't match reference meanwhile we have bvm x300 oled reference monitors. This guy has no clue what he's talking about the wants to Call out someone who has doen this for 25 years. Yeah 25 years man who has talk to all the biggest names in the world and has met with plenty Hollywood experts colorists exc. I mean what are most of these professionals doing now for client monitors? Oled tvs of course. What are directors recommending us use for there movies? Oled tvs lol even samsung is moving oled next year and for good damn reason. All this guy does is hate on oled because he wants to use the most saturated led tvs he can yet wants to sit here talking about reference? It makes no sense to me. Also believe me as yoy know yourself oled tvs can grt a ton of rich deep color. Also the a90j is now using quad pixel boosting to get brighter colors compared to other oled tvs so now the bright highlights don't have as much white sub pixel dilution and it may be the best I've ever seen bright Colorful highlights on any tv not just oled. The eotf curve is beautiful on the a90j the roll off is nice also you get tons of detail while also getting a brighter image then past. He just doesn't understand these things. It would be like him calling out vincnet even though vincnet has mastering monitors on hand. He also thinks oled is the most pure most accurate image on the market. So he can keep trying to rag on oled all he wants to.
