Doug: You are masterful in your handling of a knife blade. Where others tend to use small gouges or tiny blades for such small figure details, you masterfully carve the finest detail with your inch and a half or inch and a quarter, or whatever blade length this particular knife is. No detail is too much of a challenge for you. I just love to watch your consumate knife skill as you create such wondefully detailed "tiny figures!" Please keep bringin 'em!!! Well done!

Fantastic again Doug, my house has been over run by little hillbillies and now I have someone to keep them in check! Loving what you're doing, I was starting to get frustrated, trying to progress to quickly, I'm following along this series, doing multiple carvings of the same thing (I've 30+ hillbillies) I can see my progression, cleaner cuts, speed picking up and just plain having fun with these little guys.

Truly inspiring Doug, thank you for sharing your skill with us. The way you impart character into these little guys with what seem to be the simplest of cuts and facets shows a great understanding of form and posture. I haven't even started whittling anything myself as yet, but be assured that after listening to your calm and confidence inspiring guidance, I'm going to start!
Ok, - I'm off to the Amazon to buy some Limewood blocks and some of those bullet-proof gloves. (I DO nearly faint every time you slice towards your fingers and thumbs, and it must be a testament to dexterity that you still have a full set of digits.
Thank you again, - I can't wait to watch more.

I seen this video a few weeks back when you uploaded it, but had no time to really go thru it with you. I finally got to it and thought it was great! I was in a rut where my carvings had a relatively flat face. The trick of making the head into a giant wedge was so helpful! I am going to take this tip and redo some of my characters. I am going to use your promo code too 😊
