Such an... *animal* monster, like just straight up an owl, but with the fun quirks and threats of being a monster in this world, I love Malfestio
Honestly, I wish we got more straight up animals in Monster hunter. I mean don’t get me wrong I love the dinosaurs and dragons but I think there’s a lot of missed potential for not just making giant mammals and birds(or at least more of them).

One thing I actually appreciate in 3rd, and 4th gen, and Rise: bird wyverns becoming more bird-like. Queropeco, Malfestio, Aknosom. . . they're just neat.
Dont forget Forokururu from Frontier.
He drinks the pollum from the flowers to get elemental and status attacks.

I would love to see future flying bird wyverns and pre malfestio flying bird wyverns given malfestian morphology like malfestio and aknosom, with a broad tail, wings which have small webbed fingers and instead of having a flying membrane have flight feathers and also at least a few non flight feathers.

Absolutely love the idea of this as a series, I would watch every single one you make! These monsters deserve all the love and appreciation they can get
I played MHGU after World, so it was my second MH game. I LOVE Malfestio. Farmed this guy for his parts multiple times. I wanted some hyper parts without having to fight the big bois, and Malfestio would not let me have his hyper parts easily.
One of the few monsters I got to fight before I somehow lost my copy of GU. I wish I got good with the controls at some point, such a cool monster that I wasn't able to fully appreciate the fight of.
Awesome video, man, I would love to see you do some more of these for other monsters! Thanks for reminding me how much I love malfestio, and also for reminding me that I need to get back into GU!

Malfestio is one of my top 10 Monsters, it deserves to come back for a next Gen Consol or even an update for the switch graphics

I love Malfestio, it's a monster that I don't want to hunt and if I do I just want to capture it.
It's confusion was never a issue or a challenge, to the point I wish they would expand more of the effect, such as:
- Randomly change button inputs.
- Instead of just predictable inverted joystick controls every time, it should randomly change the degree of the joystick input.
Example - if you get confused one time you'll have - X as A, Y as B and with a joystick controls where UP is located at 150 degrees.
while the next time it might be - R as A, X as B and with a joystick controls where UP is located at 60 degrees.
And so on and so forth, that way the monster can have a better mix-up with this status effect.

Look I'm not saying I'm biased towards loving Malfestio, I mean I 100% am biased loving owls and literally having Jester in my name, it's such a good fight, and Nightcloak just ramps that up for me. 9/10 monster, missing the mark by not being in every single follow-up title
First time I fought him on the 3ds, his confusion attack irl confused me and I literally quit the game because I thought it was a glitch. Here's hoping I can beat him in mhgu.
I started with world and only played a tiny fraction of GUs content (couldn't get used to the lack of qol), but I really enjoyed hunting Malfestio, the confusion was really fun to work with
This was the second fight I learned, it was such a challenge at the time but I kept trying and trying until I learned how to bet it with many weapons abailable on the demo, after that I faced it once more in the complete game and only gained more love towards it. It has become one of my best mastered hunts and I really like it.
I have flipped the malifestio many times, but i will give it this, there really is nothing else like it
Malfestio's a great monster, though the confusion ailment is a pain, especially since it's the only monster that has access to it. The fact that it's pretty much just "Owl that happens to be a wyvern" makes me kind of bad for hunting it, especially since it sounds pretty adorable and I LOVE birds.
On a semi-related topic - if they're going to introduce an apex level Bird Wyvern to mainline Monster Hunter (Deadeye Yian Garuga and Nightcloak Malfestio don't quite count), they need to look no further than Frontier's Toridcless. Its gimmick is that it can absorb sunlight into its feathers and convert it into electricity, like a solar panel. It then uses this electricity to zap you into oblivion. It also has an amazing, but not too over-the-top design.
I love its weapons, especially its hunting horn.
Malfestio is one of my favorites in generation, it is a fun fight, and love his armor and weapons (big fan of the SnS and hunting horn weapon design). i never got bothered by the confusion but a friend of mine REALLY hated it.
The 180 head snap really caught me off guard the first time I hunted it

It has a tail (with bones and all that not just feathers). All later seen endemic life birds don't have that(you could argue pteryx but those aren't literal birds). That tail is part of wyvern anatomy. I would say he is a very adapted wyvern.
I like that it's just a fancy bird, like I could go into a real life forest and just find this thing

Biggest issue malfestio has design wise is that it doesn’t really fight like an owl. He has zygodactyl feet, but he doesn’t use them? He really needs to kick more like seregios if he wants to be a real owl

Number one: owls have semi-zygodactyl feet because their toes switch between zygodactyl and anisodactyl stance.
Number 2: in all official art of Malfestio I've seen it has what looks to be syndactyl feet.

Personally prefer Garuga, Qurupeco over this guy but Malfestio is the thierd or fiurth best bird wyvern imo (though Kulu and Great Jaggi are also contendors just for personality and memes).
I’d say Aknosom is pretty close as well to being a very bird like bird wyvern

There's a point were resuing the same content gets old.
I definitely do not enjoy fighting samey monsters on repeat, that might have some appearance differences.
My most notable monsters I like are Chameleos from MHG (don't like MHR version), Namielle MHW, Malfestio MHG, Pukei-Pukei MHW, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku MHW (mostly comical flash and retreat while fighting another monster), Arzuros MHG (gave me such the vibes of a honey badger - don't give a fuck), Deviljho MHW (who just loves picking fights wether you want them or not), Glavenus MHG/MHW (that tail), and Bazelgeuse MHW (this beast shows up when you least expect it, like a B-52 Bomber).

I'm sorry but I really don't like malfestio and how they didn't really use any actual owl attacks and just uses basic wing attacks steve is the better owl monster atleast attack wise although he does use general birds of pery attacks but no we had to waste an actual owl on some jester bird.
