Me: "...why would you -" Capcom: "So we have this thing called the Clutch Claw, and we literally built the entire expansion around you getting good with it."
when the monster is not enraged, you can clutch claw it in the face and use the flashpod on it. it will knock it down, but you usually dont get a long down, only a moment. it does the job of keeping it out of the air for a while. Also, since you literally shove the flashpod in its eyeball, you get the maximum amount of stun from your flashpods. you cant just shoot a flash randomly in front of monsters anymore.

I remember finding SnS to be a fun but overall not very effective weapon class. Then it got that Perfect Rush buff and my jaw hit the floor at seeing an SnS player absolutely manhandle a Zinogre like a champ while i awkwardly just booped its tail with DBs.
Has never been a bad weapon, but it was hard to get a good overall damage because you have to be very agresive with it (and its easier to do with other weapons, for more DPS) and had some strange things with it (like you can block but using the weapon well means that you shouldnt, focusing more on the low attack conmitement to evade, or using the i-frames of the back-hop) The perfect rush buff was still needed, thats for sure, and is a welcome one. Edit: Forgot to say, SnS is one of the weapons who got the better end of the stick with the clutch claw, helping to reach and break hard to hit parts, and the buff to the clawryuken allows SnS to tenderize parts very easily (with Safi, is two parts tenderized for the "price" of one)
Jose Antonio I love how everyone calls it the Clawryuken despite the name meaning claw dragon fist like that lol. A more fitting term would be the replace the fist part with claw of the original term, but that's complicated. Clawryuken is much easier to say though.

Re: Glider Mantle - One thing you didn't mention was that because of how the slinger-mount works, putting on the glider mantle, then attaching to the monster with the slinger, then detaching and immediately attacking can give you free mount attack attempts even if there's no good spot to jump on the monster in the area. That was a lot of fun when I discovered that. Pretty useful as a GS user if I'm trying to get a full mount.
I liked the fact that they nerfed the temp mantle. I felt that a lot of players relied on it too much. Mostly from my experiences with players who got really aloof with the monster when they didn't have it on.
It was actually an indirect nerf because they tried to make it so clutch clawing wouldn't be so easy and that people would actually use the clager mechanic to tenderizing such and temporal just made it way too easy AT velk have anti clutch claw AI that made anti temporal as well
Before Iceborne: Man, Bird Wyverns sure are easy After Icebourne: did that purple abomination of a bird just fight Deviljho? Oh god it's looking at me now.

There are 3 types: - Monsters that aggro on sight (Pickle, Monkey) - Monsters that roar on sight, but will not aggro if you leave (Rathalos, Branchy) - Monsters that will not aggro until you attack (Kush, Velk, Dodo)
It always varied monster to monster. I followed Rathian and Rathalos around pre-iceborn just to watch them, so long as I didn't stay in their eyesight for long, they never attacked. Actually, I think Legiana was the only one aggressive on sight then.
Those "Vespoids" in: 9:26 are actualy from MHFU, since they only target the players, not to mention in MHFU there's a "Queen Vespoid" 8 ft - 9 ft tall, With the Abnormal status attack of "paralyze and -50% armor debuff" it's 1 of the nasty fights, since it can summon vespoids multiple times in battle and it's attacks can drain tons of health 😠🙃
I see that black dot in the dust of the explosion and I'm like what is that thing... And then I hear the loud noise and the beam right in my screen It made me drop the controller and jump XD
Great tip about the Glider Mantle! Feels weird not really using the mantle for its purpose but it two free good slots. With tool specialist it's an even shorter downtime between uses.
I actually grabbed Redpit at all times. Considering how it was 15 shots, the highest outside of Stone, and you can't always gets access to the good ammo like crystalburst and piercing pods, it and Scatternuts were my go to for when I just needed some kind of ammo. Better than stone by a mile. They do about double the damage at the very least for only 5 less shots. If you want some basic stats to say why you'd get them. I guess the downside to them is that if you aren't too fanatical about using them, you eventually end up picking up more later and dropping the remaining redpit you had prior that you didn't use up completely. Eh, at least I had some ammo. An empty slinger is never good.
To be honest I think the best thing Iceborne did for them isn't even wallbanging, it's the slinger bursts you can do during regular fights, which makes the ability to shotgun blast stones, redpits, or burst pods for the cost of only 1 ammo each is indispensable, especially as a Charge Blade main since I can use them while on defense
You'd be dropping the redpit if some good ammo like Slinger Bombs, Thorns, and otherwise would pop up, but if you needed any slinger ammo, you're not gonna say no. S&S pre iceborne is kinda worthless if you aren't using the whole reason you'd run S&S without the old oils of the past
You missed how Gajalaka come out of nowhere on a downed monster and intentionally lines up to throw poison and para darts at the monster to make it look like they hit you on mistake.
From someone who has never played ice borne... when they're going over the glider mantle, and the one dude has a sign "never even heard of it..." I felt that on a spiritual level

Rocksteady before IB: Gigantic boon to any hunt
After IB: "Suicide Mantle"
Get yourself level 3 Divine Blessing and bring along mega armorskins and you will be just fine, Rocksteady and Temporal are incredibly useful with the clutch claw .
> "Suicide Mantle"
that has been true even before Iceborne
There's more reason to use it now due to the grappling mechanic (clutch claw) and that you can gem in Divine Blessing on it to mitigate most of the damage. You can quickly wound monsters, get slinger ammo, or if you're a Switchaxe user, spam clutch claw -> Zero Sum Discharge.

Has never been a bad weapon, but it was hard to get a good overall damage because you have to be very agresive with it (and its easier to do with other weapons, for more DPS) and had some strange things with it (like you can block but using the weapon well means that you shouldnt, focusing more on the low attack conmitement to evade, or using the i-frames of the back-hop)
The perfect rush buff was still needed, thats for sure, and is a welcome one.
@@TheJosethemaster Having them buff the claw uppercut is nice and all, but it's hard to aim in the moment. I usually save it for downed monsters and a lot of the time I _still_ miss the part I'm aiming for either by jumping and missing, or having it clutch onto a completely different part.
The Dual Blades' tenderizing buff was way easier to implement into gameplay IMO.

I don't even think Yian Garuga is 6 stars, he's such a let down, even Barioth is harder tbh
@@deesix3504 what are you on about? Bariot is way easier than garuga let alone scarred yian garuga.
Vespoids: SO, freaking, accurate
Those things are aggressive as hecc in MR
God forbid you have an egg cause those bastards are programed to make your life hell.
not just vespoid but all small critters are hyper aggressive in Iceborne
Just wait if they ever bring back....the Konchu....*shivers*
@@eeveeongirl or the bullfango
@@223weesnake Or the rhenoplos. God why are so many small monsters annoying
Before ice borne: every monster agro's on sight
After ice borne: hey u can walk with monster's now
There are 3 types:
- Monsters that aggro on sight (Pickle, Monkey)
- Monsters that roar on sight, but will not aggro if you leave (Rathalos, Branchy)
- Monsters that will not aggro until you attack (Kush, Velk, Dodo)
_Rajang wants to know your location_
I love walking with Vespoids
It always varied monster to monster.
I followed Rathian and Rathalos around pre-iceborn just to watch them, so long as I didn't stay in their eyesight for long, they never attacked.
Actually, I think Legiana was the only one aggressive on sight then.
Those "Vespoids" in: 9:26
are actualy from MHFU, since they only target the players, not to mention in MHFU there's a "Queen Vespoid" 8 ft - 9 ft tall,
With the Abnormal status attack of "paralyze and -50% armor debuff" it's 1 of the nasty fights, since it can summon vespoids multiple times in battle and it's attacks can drain tons of health 😠🙃
Before Iceborne: Wiggler hunter
After Iceborne Wiggler hunter: "Don't ever speak to me or my child again"
YEEEES!!!!!!
Kirin before Iceborne: DEATH. AND LIGHTNING.
Kirin after Iceborne: "My Little Pony: Wounding is Magic"
Haahahahahhhha
Only time I've ever actually been pleased about having to mess with the damn Clutch Claw, to be honest.
Temp is still a one shot machine
But also, even MOAR LIGHTNING!
Before Iceborne: Monsters would take a second or two before their next attack
After Iceborne: *CANT STOP WONT STOP WOOOOOOOOOOO*
fucking Shara going for the Kamehameha beam immediately out of the AOE Spirit Bomb
@@stormhawkdude Yo that combo recked me when I first hunted him. I was all " Aight the Spirit Bomb is ov... AHHHHHHH"
I see that black dot in the dust of the explosion and I'm like what is that thing... And then I hear the loud noise and the beam right in my screen
It made me drop the controller and jump XD
Velkahna has joined the chat.
Good
Gosh i just realized there's a FF Unlimited reference. That was a nostalgia trip
Hammer before iceborne: SPEEN
Hammer after iceborne: *clutch claw monster* SPEEEEEEEEN
its the king of tenderizing now.
@@Ed_man_talking9 a mallet, used to tenderize? What a mad idea!
Hammer before Iceborne: Hammer noises
Hammer after Iceborne: Intense Skull bashing Noises
post iceborne: all right longsword, let me show you how a real man combos.
Hammer is the only way to fight yian garuga in my opinion while soloing
Great tip about the Glider Mantle! Feels weird not really using the mantle for its purpose but it two free good slots. With tool specialist it's an even shorter downtime between uses.
Anyone who fought a khezu knows about the eye of sauron.
Always watching
THIS

I'm not sure whether the eye-con appeared in mhfu when fighting khezu
But i do remember not being able to supermandive until 4u that is
my immersion is broken. khezu is blind
9:11 "investigation added"
my only regret is that i can only like this one time
I was absolutely dying at the Eric Andre part.
Also I can't wait for the Vespoid holocaust.
same, that was the best reference
You missed how Gajalaka come out of nowhere on a downed monster and intentionally lines up to throw poison and para darts at the monster to make it look like they hit you on mistake.
From someone who has never played ice borne... when they're going over the glider mantle, and the one dude has a sign "never even heard of it..." I felt that on a spiritual level
