I don’t really disagree about tzitzi’s design, but he’ll always have a special place in my heart because when I’m in the coral highlands he always seems to show up at just the right moment to knock those pesky flying monsters back down to earth.
Great Izuchi: clearly looks like a member of the Coelurosaurian dinosaurs which includes birds and raptors, to the point it would look like a generic real world animal if you removed its tail scythe. You: "It's not bird enough" Me: ??????
Great Izuchi looks more snake-like than other dromes imo. It has the snake head with the forked tongue and its skin is very snake-like too. It still resembles a raptor naturally but it does take more inspiration from snakes
From the Subspecies I think theres one who stands out from its OG enough to be mentioned. Coral Pukei is reeeealy good. The flashy Colores make it more interesting looking, and the new Attacks are very unique and different from the OG. The split Watherbeam is such a unique Attack. For its Tier its even quiet challenging and has good Damage. Definitiv A, or S Tier for me.
Although like you I prefer Maccao overall, Izuchi pulled off the alpha male concept the best. It actually has synced attacks with its minions instead of the usual summoning of goons that just do their own thing which is usually fuck all.

Great Maccao is my absolute favorite monster and I'm so upset that he didn't get a deviant. Taking an early game monster and making a version of it that you'd still regularly be fighting in the endgame wouldn't been such a cool concept and you know they could've really done something with that tail.
Because frontier monsters are actually on the table now, I really hope they add Toridcless in the future because of how it could rival yian garuga as a harder bird wyvern.
I got a feeling that the ultimate monster we're going to fight in Sunbreak isn't Fatalis or its variants. It will be a very comically super strong Bird Wyvern in all existence: a Sun God Gargwa!
Bird Wyverns are the most fun to break parts on IMO. It's kinda satisfying when you hear that crack sound and their beak is all messed up lol. Fantastic tierlist btw, you've got good taste! Pretty much how I would rank them except Pukei would be much higher, I love his dumb face.
i actually love gypceros. it was the most interesting low level threat that I ever faced as a 9 year old. I initially thought it was just Kut-Ku but with poison. I learned everything I needed to know from it like knowing when a shock trap won't be effective, that some monsters can steal items, and that some parts of a monsters is best removed as early as possible (for him, it's the head bulb because of his flash grenade). By the time I met the Khezu, the Chameleos, and Kirin, I already know what I need to focus on Also, hi-rank Gypceros can feint death which got me the first time so that was impressive.
and there is the answer from the flagship list. oh and Aknosom isn't just based on the umbrella yokai. it's more based on a fire breathing chicken yokai.

You had me exactly up until Pukei-Pukei, whom is a solid A-tier monster with an S-tier subspecies. He's got a vibrant, colorful design that matches the forested environments his species lives in. A lot of his features, like his tail, wings, and chameleon-like head, are strange and alien looking compared to most other Bird Wyvern designs, with more reptilians features that serve to make him resemble a missing link between the raptors Bird Wyverns and the avian ones he shares the winged bracket with. He has a fun, early-game fight with cleanly telegraphed attacks that are easy to learn and reward beginners while prepping them for harder fights. His stronger subspecies is even more colorful, serving as a natural progression in the difficulty of his original fight which serves as a segue into Master/G-Rank, and gives some rare love to the water element in a form that's not a Leviathan or Carapaceon. And, not to mention, we get to fight alongside him as a tailraider in the Witcher crossover. Pukei-Pukei is a paragon of what early-game, non-raptor Bird Wyverns should strive to be. Coral Pukei Pukei deserves his own place on the list. He is so much different from original Pukei and so much better at the same time... Oh and btw we need more water monsters, not everything has to be poison or fire or both. Do you hear me Sunbreak?
I think Pukei Pukei is so blah because everything it does is done better by another Monster, As shown in your tier list there are better early game bird wyverns, its chameleon aesthetic is done much better on Chameleos, and its poison head and tail are a much better fit on Gigginox. So he comes off as this bland design by checklist monster that was put in to fill a design quota.
I can not stand by the Tzitzi slander. Sure he may look plain, and his fight might be somewhat lackluster, but he is the biggest bro out of all the monsters. I’ll be out their hunting monsters in the Coral Highlands and he will just come along and blind them for me, before peacing out. Bro Bird for Life.
I accept every placement in this tierlist EXCEPT for Tzi-tzi being in last place. You're telling me this loveable flashing goofball that just wants to cause you and the monster you're fighting some trouble by using its antenna to give you a lil' flash is worse than the objectively worst monster in all of monster hunter? Sure it's more memorable due to how immensely frustrating and ugly it is, but I don't think that makes it surpass Tzi-tzi overall. Tzi-tzi has different moves from Kulu and the ability to flash you, 'it' can play dead, which is completely predictable and simply free damage after your very first encounter. I am super-duper very legitimately absolutely very unironically mad at you for this one small placement in this tierlist about birds in a video game and will promptly like the video because of this.

Wait isn't paolumu a bird wyvern too?

Slandering my cute boi joggi

Dislike for Pukei-Pukei slander...
I strongly dislike malfestio. I hate him.
