To clear up a few things from this video. Odd gt dealys were still possible before copper bulb but they were bigger and clunky. They either involved pistons (which take 3gt) leaves or scaffolding. However, on bedrock edition, redstone only runs on 10 tps (even the odd gt things i mentioned above) so it is impossible to get odd delays on bedrock. There is a running theory that me and the technical community believe that the main reason the bulb got updated to be instant rather than have a 1gt delay was because of bedrocks inability to handle odd delay. Mojangs approch to parity is to just make all the new features "similar enough" and ignore the actual root problems of parity, one of them being bedrocks literal half speed redstone. Also Crafty Crafter Counter mentioned LOL
@@TheAuthorStudioswhy bedrock edition cant have same features as Java? Ik it is coded different but we still can have Java features in bedrock but mojang is lazy to do stuff I guess,
@@mindset2047As a programmer, my guess is that Bedrock has messy code and bad tools. That can lead to simple changes breaking the entire code base, so Mojang opted to just remove the 1 tick instead of completely rewriting Bedrock. On one hand that's practical in this case, but on the other... THIS KEEPS HAPPENING! However, I'm pretty sure they mentioned that they're working on parity tools at Minecraft Live so maybe one day Bedrock will stop being a hindrance to Java and Java can get a better Wither fight.
The problem with this consistency thing is: how are people gonna find new and unique uses for these blocks if they behave exactly like other blocks? We dont want "consistent" blocks, we want unique blocks that unlock new possibilities
The crafter change makes me sad, because it was super good for crafting dispensers. But the copper bulb one needs to change. Having lighting updates on something so revolutionary is a nightmare. Useful redstone needs more emphasis on not having lighting updates. Wires emitting light was a mistake. They need *something else* that can do 1GT delay

I’m not a redstone player, BUT, I recognize the immense genius and ingenuity they possess. I am deeply frustrated this incredible power was taken away from them.
Mojang has really taken a down turn lately. If the Copper Bulb thing happened with another block in 2012, they would've kept it, and made it into a feature. Heck, that's being a little rude even, because a similar thing happened with the Target Block with it interacting with Redstone in an unintended way and they kept it. There was absolutely Zero reason to change this. None.
It’s not Mojang, it’s the oversight from Microsoft. Same thing has happened to MtG since Hasbro acquired Wizards. The people who know how to make the game are forced to take stupid instructions from people who don’t and have to just make the best they can out of it.
@@joebykaebyIt’s not Microsoft. They usually give their acquisitions a lot of free rein in how they work on their games. And regardless, Microsoft wouldn’t be worried about ‘block consistency’ and random redstone stuff anyways, *if* they were gonna get involved with anything it would be with Minecraft’s monetization
@@julianpottermusic Microsoft is definitely not making decisions about block timings or game specifics, but they are deciding who’s in charge of what, the things that they are and aren’t allowed to do, when they have to release things by, and what the constraints are for budget and scope.

8:32 Hey, it's me! Small correction: 1 tick delay was possible before the bulb, using scaffolding or leaves, but those methods where a bit inconvenient. The bulb made everything easier.
We know but it's entirely illogical from an outsiders perspective trying to understand redstone and they were also relatively large where copper bulbs had all the functionality in 1 block allowing for extremely compact 1 tick delays
I know for a fact I heard a Minecraft RUclipsr describe these blocks, why they're so huge for redstone, and that 'These are perfect. These don't need to be changed at all.' before this ridiculous snapshot came out.
Honestly I don't mind the crafter getting a delay added to it, I feel like in it's previous state it was a bit over powered. They should not have changed the copper bulb though. There were so many interesting uses for it and the possibility that this comes from an avoidance of fixing deep rooted issues in Bedrock is frustrating.
@durandle9226 not just optimization, the game is so broken on a fundamental level - I've never had issues with minecraft crashing until they moved from console-specific version to the bedrock network. I've Uninstalled it from both my phone and my consoles. And ofc, it's also super poorly optimized, AND ITS LESS GRAPHICALLY INTENSIVE THAN EVERY OTHER GAME I PLAY I can play Dayz on my old ass Ps4 with 40+ zombies and plenty of players around, with the only limitation being the garbage console servers. But I'll lag loading a chunk in mc
I feel like the trill that's possible due to the 1-tick copper bulbs is a really sick application to this mechanic. Note block map makers could really benefit from this, but of course Mojang won't let us have fun in our own way
Note blocks are honestly one of the coolest concepts in the game. I just wished they had a UI to set the pitch. All of this clicking (and checking via F3, *and* comparing the values from it with the pitch table on the Wiki) makes it really tedious to create something, even if you're just copying sheet music.
Im just confused as to why Mojang would make an almost perfect item from the start, allowing for game-changing mechanics, only to change them and make literally everyone mad.
It’s because of a single “bug” report that complained the copper bulb operated faster than droppers/hoppers. Some moron made this report and mojang paid attention to it instead of the overwhelmingly positive response to the bulbs behavior.
I love how the community is finally starting to stand up for itself (ex: the mob vote) and mojang is just confused as why their community isn’t picture perfect 💀

completely out of touch. it seems like they WANT minecraft to be purely a kids game. just look at the way they speak in every minecraft live or other vids - they are CONSTANTLY talking like they would to a 5 year old. the fact that lots and lots of adults play the game, and almost all of the endgame features and redstone overall are only used by adults, is something they seemingly dont understand
I feel like they most likely see us now as “just dumb consumers that don’t know what they actually want so we’ll show them” it’s like a parent ignoring their kid because they think they know what’s best for them even if all the kid wants is something to eat
@@thahoule7924 This right here. They are probably _creeped out_ by the fact that adults play their game, and even more when adults complain to them about the features
Ive been saying that the only "style" of minecraft player the recent updates have been geared towards is the adventurers and builders. I was so happy to see the redstoners finally getting a good few features, and having one of the two revolutionary blocks: the first big redstone revolution since honey blocks, be nerfed to hell is heartbreaking. Let us little technical/industrial players have our fun too! Edit: im not saying that the updates have been _good_ but they are meant for builders and adventurers. Even if they fail to address problems or bloat their playstyle.
honestly, as a builder, I find more decorative and building blocks to be a bit overwhelming. It's a lot easier to pick 5 blocks out of 100 than 5 out of 300. I find the new updates are more pivoted towards those who like adventures, which almost no one likes doing or gets bored after 10 minutes of doing. I think the problem is Mojang is running out of good ideas and is just throwing random crap out there whether people like it or not.
As an adventurer... Why bother exploring. The loot in most structures is pretty much worthless. Once you have a villager hall (or several now with the new changes) and some mob grinders, the game is a joke. There's no reason to adventure because after the mid game there's nothing left to really find.
If Mojang has made the blocks work this way from the start, people wouldn't be mad. But people are now furious that they were given something so much more useful, just for the versatility of it to be removed. Mojang did this when they teased the fireflies and birch biome changes, just to say no. They have to learn to not make promises they can't (or won't in this case) keep. I know snapshots are not promises. It is just an expression. Edit: To all the people saying "But it is a snapshot, and Mojang says nothing in snapshots are set in stone" true, but it being a snapshot does not justify making something good, just for them to change it to make it definitively worse. Snapshots are made to let the community give feedback on stuff, and then help improve it. So here is my feedback. It would be better for this change to be reverted. To the repliers: Guys. Chill. It is just an opinion that this reversion is unwanted by the community. I don't need to hear "but Mojang can do it if they want" again. Of course they can. Doesn't mean we have to like it though.
@@LineOfThy By putting it in the game, they made it accessible to people, just to turn around and remove it. They may not have verbally promised, but they demonstrated what they were gonna do, then undid it. It is like pretending to hand a dog a treat just to take it away.

I spent 6+ hours designing my first 2-block-wide hidden staircase that fits into a 12x5x5 space and has a symmetrical opening without the use of slime and honey blocks. I’m really proud of the fact that I was able to put the copper bulbs to good use, but now? Completely useless. But to be honest, I’m not at all that surprised Mojang pulled the plug. edit: redesigned it and it'll now work in the newer snapshots. I've also touched grass as well so yeah I'm not really annoyed at Mojang anymore.

see when mojang says "consistency" they dont mean "consistency with other blocks" but instead "consistency with BEDROCK EDITION." bedrock runs on 10 tps, so the effect that copper bulbs have that we saw in java isn't possible on bedrock. Instead of uprooting the underlying issue (10tps) mojang decides its a lot easier to simply remove the feature from java.
@@Joetoep that's gaming communities for you, everyone always has something to complain about yet they play the game daily, i mean for fuck's sake, look at COD lmao, those poor bastards have been playing the same reskin for the last 5 years

I'd honestly prefer if it had no delay for the first 3 oxidization states, but the old 1 gt delay when fully oxidized. That way, contraptions that require tight timings (so the ones that use the 1 gt delay) also cause less light update lag, due to the lower emitted light level. But the idea to tie the delay to oxidization is genius, they should totally do that!
This reminds me of how parity (for the most part) is features being removed from one game to match the other. I think mojang should embrace the fact that java and bedrock are different games.
I truly believe they're prepping for Minecraft 2. Every other Minecraft branded game as flopped under the Minecraft IP. They need a new, killer release in their core franchise... aka Minecraft 2. This could explain why features come so slow to Java. They wanna wrap up and leave the game in a legacy state where it can basically be supported by modders, who have a more efficient development environment anyways, whilst they focus development on MC 2. If they added too much to Java now, they'll have less new features on release for Minecraft 2. Imo, they have to be withholding. because making these things isn't magic. The Minecraft director should have a clear vision forward for the game and their tools have been maturing for a decade. The art isn't a limiting factor at 16x16, and it's not like every mob is some completely new system that should take months to test and develop. Basically, they have no barriers, the game was designed intentionally to be easy to add onto, yet development is slow as hell. It's artificially and intentionally limited.
They're preparing for the moment where Minecraft Java slowly gets erased and shafted to the legacy channels, then Mojang becomes further and further assimilated into Xbox Game Studios, to the point where it will become wholly published by Xbox Game Studios and the only remnants will be the community and PR arms of Mojang.
@@uponeric36 while getting Java Edition deprecated would be the best outcome for us, modders, (because we finally wouldn't have to deal with Mojang breaking stuff each update and making code uglier every year), I can hardly believe they will do this any time soon. This would basically require them to write a new game entirely from scratch, because Bedrock Edition has a lot of fundamental problems, and there is no way Java Edition players would voluntarily move to Minecraft 2 without a full (or at least major) rewrite. And leaving a big part of Java Edition player base on legacy modders-maintained version isn't in Mojang's interest, because this would significantly reduce hype from official updates, which is currently the main source of new players who buy the game. This may also lead to Mojang losing a lot of control they recently acquired in Java Edition (like chat reporting and other stuff), because without the need to keep compatibility with new official releases, community would probably start developing a fork based on older game version (as most of the updates starting with 1.13 traded a lot of optimizations for more readable and convenient codebase, leading to huge performance decrease, which is why almost all non-SMP servers still run pre-1.13 releases under the hood). And having to do a big rewrite raises the question, would it even be profitable? Yes, not having to backport every change from Java to Bedrock would probably cut the development cost, but fixing all Bedrock issues would require a lot of work, and consequentially, money. And giving Java Edition entirely into community hands would probably mean increased spendings on content moderation, because, you know, Mojang needs to keep "caring about their brand image" (aka being assholes) by DMCAing "non-kids-friendly" content and doing other stupid things

"They should do the math, figure out who takes up the majority of their player base and then satisfy that side." I think that is exactly what they're doing without saying it outright. People that go on RUclips and watch vids/comments isn't a majority of the people that play the game. They also take peoples low end/medium end set ups, consoles and so on into consideration. They may also see possibilities with the previous tick delay that can be abused before anyone else does, then do changes before anyone notices and leave it at that in a "whew, community is pissed but crisis averted" kind of way. I'm just theorizing now, but it doesn't make sense to spend money and time on "fixing" something the community is hype about if that isn't the case. Either that, or they do this and then change it back a month or two away from the update to be released to keep the hype and talk up for more free PR.
@@T3n50r "People that go on RUclips and watch vids/comments isn't a majority of the people that play the game." I doubt that. For the past 3 years it feels like mojang shows us something with genuine potential or something that's great and takes it away for a more mediocre item/feature no wonder a large portion of the community doesn't trust them
on the plus side, there's most likely going to be a mod somewhere that either reverts the change or adds a new block with the *sole purpose* to interact with redstone on a 1tick delay
That's not a plus side >Mod still needs to be developed >you need extra effort to put it in >its foreign anyway and locks out vanilla people of it >Mod would revert the state of the game that would be considered "normal' so we gain something but that's not a plus, that's back to neutral
@@SethbotStar There are already a few ways to get 0-tick pulses which are potentially more system-intensive than the bulbs would be, and the game handles them fine unless you do crazy crap with them.
@@SethbotStar No, and normal redstone wires also have a 0 tick delay, just like copper bulbs today. Redstoners frequently do work with sub-tick delay, caused not by an actual delay, but by the fact that while the game processes redstone, different blocks of redstone mechanisms are processed in sort of a queue. And that's why the game doesn't crash all of the time when we light up a wire with 0-tick delay - in code it has strict order that the game follows to process redstone, so there's no situations when game can't decide what to do (if there were, redstone would have been pretty crash-inducing)

i'm not a redstoner but i do enjoy the idea of copper bulbs doing something special like 1 tick delays, especially with how they're obtained. it encourages survival redstoners to explore and sharpen their combat skills in order to obtain them. also, it's so nice seeing t flops getting smaller. i think it's gonna stay that way but i wanted to say something about that
4:44 it was possible before to make 1gt delays with scaffolding or leaves, but copper bulbs are just much better at that. Also the bug report is actually a false report that somehow got accepted. The copper bulb will likely be fixed, but it bug report called out inconsistency between the dispenser/dropper and the crafter. They are completely different blocks, and work in different ways. There's no need for consistency between them, but if they were to change the crafter, then maybe make a good change like making it q-c powerable or changing it to ss15
I honestly don't think the change to a crafter is not a bad thing it was a little bit insane how quick it would go, but the copper bulb if they don't revert it it's such a missed opportunity and I don't think anyone's gonna care other than the technical community so you wouldn't even be upsetting the casual player. It would be nice to get a "no sorry we wont change it back because..... it would break this that and the other...."
Well the technical community was a lot more upset because they were also helpful for the same reasons as the copper bulb such as with things like binary counters or super precise counters as a general
i personally dont see the point of the crafter change but yeah it's not important imo. if farmers want faster auto-crafting they can just use multiple so it's pretty negligible. the copper bulb change tho, like bruh
@@ryuinedthe crafter could have been used for for way more stuff besides crafting. There are RUclips vids about making super accurate clocks with it and stuff, so much potential
I think regardless of being far more survival oriented, the copper bulb making a red stone contraption more simplified sounds appealing and could bring more people into red stone experimentation.
Ah yes we definitely don’t want more unique ways to use blocks in the block game, we just want nothing to change especially with “major updates” from the smol indie company.
7:45 correction: It is now more bulky and difficult than it needs to be. It wasn't revolutionary because it introduced a new possiblity, you could get 1 tick delays through leafstone and scaffolding (and probably more I can't think of rn) but it just made it much more of a hassle than this 1 block solution
I think it makes sense to change the crafter to dispenser speed, since it uses a dispenser. But there needs to be a way to 1-tick redstone. If they want the copper bulb to be consistent with redstone lamps, they need another way to get redstone onto one tick
It's possible but less compact. (2 scaffoldings, one on a trapdoor: if you open the trapdoor the scaffolding changes to it's floating state in 1 game tick)
The proper solution is NOT to revert the copper bulb but to have the amount of delay be based on the oxidation level. I would propose 0/1/2/3 gt and it somewhat fits in thematically as well because oxidation does have an effect on conductivity in the real world. The thing is, even game tick delays help to avoid synchronization issues in a lot of circuits using T flip-flops and binary counters that would otherwise require workarounds. Odd game ticks are a bit inconvenient to get in some situations and the old copper bulb was very useful here. So I only see this as a way to solve everyone's problems.
Im not a Redstoner, but having Odd-Delays is an Addition that i like. Like the smooth Sand-Circle is so fancy, i can understand that it angers many People. And it makes it easier with the Music-Timing like you shown, i know that you had to build a big Contraption to make such a Timing, or cannot do it. (I cant remember exactly, but i remember that i skipped making Music with Redstone, because of the Timing Issues.)
Maybe, to make everyone happy they could make it so depending on the amount of oxidation the copper bulb is the tick delay it slower/faster? That'd actually allow for some pretty cool contraptions.
Imagine your contraption suddenly working differently because of the random decay of such a component (if unwaxed); like locality(?), but somewhat predictable!
Having the timer (aka the bulb) being condensed into a single block also means less block updates and thus significantly reduces server load. The impact may not be too apparent initially, but for every circuit that you add with an independent clock the difference becomes very noticeable. This is one of the limitations of making circuits in minecraft and why condensing redstone circuits as much as possible is important.
6:47 phoenix, for clarification, they kept changing the crafter texture because someone (i believe it was ECKOSOILDER) discovered that with the crafter sideways, you could easily make a... certain symbol. may or may not be germany related...

So in otherwords the community needs to hold off on sharing new and interesting game mechanics to the public because mojang might see it and then decide the best course of action is for people to not have those things.
I've been wanting Redstone changes for the longest time I just despise it in general so seeing if there was a one tick delay that I wasn't aware of it was really cool it's actually a nice thing to have and brings interest Redstone for me. Without Mojang has decided hey let's be consistent and this is the reason why I play modded Minecraft in barely any vanilla making redstone contraptions as pain a one tick delay would have been nice but we did it ripped away I will continue to not mine redstone when I go underground
I feel like the hype also came from the fact that this one tick delay changed a lot about how we could use Redstone, therefor adding a really really curious change that everyone could experiment with for a really long time. In fact, it would probably revive a little bit of the Redstone part of the community. Taking this away I feel like just killed more of their community. They aren't listening for some reason and I feel like that's going to be their biggest downfall.
If Mojang changed the copper bulb for the sake of consistency with redstone, then by that same logic they should change the Warden's animations to be more consistent with the older Minecraft mobs. And to be clear, I have nothing against the Warden's animations. My point is that if they allow the Warden to have unique animations, then they should also allow the Copper Bulb to have unique functionality.
What I find funny is the fact that once 1.21 is out, the first mod/datapack that's gonna be uploaded is gonna be a reversion of these blocks back to their original functionality.
Not with a datapack unfortunatly, but I'm sure it's going to be a mod! It might even be the Carpet mod that does this, and that's developed by gnembon!
Please make a video where you change all tickspeeds in the entire game to 2 in order to make ALL tick speeds more "consistent". This is clearly the ideal game Mojang Is striving towards.
Bundles and now redstone got scrapped because they don't know how to fix bedrock, damn
Thank you for explaining this in a bit more detail.
so, in short:
Bedrock edition was a mistake
The 1 tick delay was so good, those who built PC's on Minecraft were going to create a next Gen of processors with that

Maybe the tick delay should depend on its oxidation state (from 0 with no oxidation to 3 when max oxidation)

Then people wonder why everyone hates/thinks shitrock is an inferior version lmao
@@AtomicRobloxProductions lmao true

If the copper bulbs were always this way (0 tick delay?) to begin with, most people won't bat an eye. But since they made it how it was (1 tick delay), players got a taste of what that feels like. And a lot of people like it. And now it's taken away. And people riot. Mojang aimed a gun at their own the foot for making the bulbs 1 tick delay to begin with. Mojang needs to stop making changes that make nobody happy. They don't satisfy the enthusiasts, they don't satisfy the casuals. They should do the math, figure out who takes up the majority of their player base and then satisfy that side.
I don't know where you are from, but Minecraft players I know have internet, and they watch RUclips.

I have an idea. they should make the unoxidised copper bulb to have 0 tick delay and as they oxidise they get 1+ tick delay every oxidation level.
Wouldn't a 0 tick delay literally just crash the game?
@@SethbotStar There are already a few ways to get 0-tick pulses which are potentially more system-intensive than the bulbs would be, and the game handles them fine unless you do crazy crap with them.
@@SethbotStar Apparently not, like shown in the video 0 tick is what they are being changed to.

I think why people are upset about the crafter is because it happened at the same time as the copper bulb changes
Well the technical community was a lot more upset because they were also helpful for the same reasons as the copper bulb such as with things like binary counters or super precise counters as a general
But 90% of the complaints are from people who wont ever use the copper bulb
i personally dont see the point of the crafter change but yeah it's not important imo. if farmers want faster auto-crafting they can just use multiple so it's pretty negligible. the copper bulb change tho, like bruh
7:45 correction:
It is now more bulky and difficult than it needs to be. It wasn't revolutionary because it introduced a new possiblity, you could get 1 tick delays through leafstone and scaffolding (and probably more I can't think of rn) but it just made it much more of a hassle than this 1 block solution
Frr
I mean humans are more advanced when we make smaller transistors so it’s the same concept here I think
making the tick delay based on the oxidation level of the copper bulb would be a fun and engaging way of solving this, atleast imo
The copper bulb block would be soo much more convenient though
5:34 rlly wasnt expecting the best nocturne ever from mr chopin
