Noel Throw Blanket Crochet Pattern

I have always loved the Christmas Carol, The First Noel,
but never really thought about what the word "Noel" meant.
So I looked it up in the Dictionary.
Here is what I Found.
Noel -
1. A Christmas Carol - The Choir Sang noels during the Christmas Season.
2. Christmas - Wished his friends a joyous Noel
A Little FYI -
"English speakers borrowed the word noel from French.
It can be traced further back to the Latin word natalis, which can mean
"birthday" as a noun or "of or relating to birth" as an adjective.
(The English adjective natal has the same meaning and is also
an offspring of natalis.). Noels were being sung in Latin or French
for centuries before the word found its way into our language in the
1800s. The earliest known musical use of noel occurred in the text of a Christmas motet called "Nova vobis gaudia", Which means "New Joys To You"
which was written in the 1400s."
I Think Calling My New Holiday Throw Blanket
"The Noel Throw Blanket" is A perfect name For it.
Than Name of The Stitch Pattern is
"The Snap Dragon Shell Stitch Pattern".
I Love The texture of this stitch pattern, as well as
how easy it is to stitch up.
I designed the throw blanket with Herrschers Holiday
Pastry Puff Cake Yarn in the Peppermint colorway.
It has red, white, greens and pink in long stripes.
I really love how it stitched up and looks.
It is a medium (4) weight yarn so any Medium (4)
yarn will work for this project.
You do not have to use Holiday colors, it will be lovely
in any colorway.
The Stitch pattern is a Combination of Shell Stitches and
Double crochet stitches which makes it a easy pattern
to stitch up as well as a beautiful stitch combination.

I'm finishing up a throw using this pattern. I used Mandala Tweed Stripes: Dragonfly (4 cakes) 2 rows of Big Twist Heather: Denim, in between each cake, just to add a little more length. I made mine a little wider than your vid. throw.

Beautiful pattern. The row colors look very even. Did the yarn just stripe that way or did you color control the rows?
It just striped that ways, And the "waves" of the pattern sort of hide the color changes.
Hi Sara: LOVE LOVE LOVE this easy peasy pattern. But I have a dilemna....I am using the #4 yarn with a J hook and did chain the 82 as required. Following all of your directions to the tee (except for the half size up in my hook), my blanket is only 27" WIDE as opposed to the 41" that yours is! Whew! Do you have any idea why this is so? It seemed to me at the beginning of the pattern, the 82 stitches would never be enough to go up to that larger width unless one was using a #5 yarn or up....PLEASE help me to stop scratching my head!!

You might need to adjust your tension and go up a hook size.
