I cook meat first after browning onion. Cook meat first. Add ginger garlic chilli pepper to meat while meat cooking and tomatoes so it does not make it dry and add verges last as meat take longer to cook
Nice simple recipe, really like it. I do however prefer a hard crust with meat. If you were going to do a creamy veg pie what ingredients would you go for?
to prevent filling from running out at the joins in pastry when baking. The puff pastry does puff out and often breaks the seal if too much filling or runny filling.
No matter what kind of filling you put in any pie, add pieces of butter to the top before adding the top crust. The top crust will start cooking before the butter melts and the pie will keep it's original shape better. Any kind, like fruit or meat pies, dot with butter or margarine. Butter will add a bit of flavor, too. As far as this video, 3 /1/2 minutes watching onion and carrots cook is 3 1/2 minutes of my life I'll never get back. That should be shortened a lot with editing. If you must add annoying music, tone it way down into the background. This recipe is a great candidate for cold, butter dots under the top crust. It would compliment both the filling and the pastry.
This is a Christmas Eve staple from north of the border, Canada. I made 2 this past week and shared with my neighbors who originally hail from TX. They had never heard of, much less tasted, 'tourtiere'. Made with a mix of ground meat or just one. Mine was half beef, half pork. Simply, but highly seasoned with garlic and onion, s&p, and a bit of Bell's Poultry seasoning. Mix in some cubed or mashed potato to hold it together. Add plenty of butter/margarine. By adding veggies like corn, peas, or carrots, you turn it into 'Shepherd's pie pie'. 😆 Turn the meat into taco filling and add shredded cheese before the top crust. Mexican meat pie! I'm not a pro at cooking, but I knew some. They never failed to tell me what I was doing wrong, in the kitchen, and elsewhere 😁 I've never seen carrots or any veggies except mashed potatoes, garlic and onion
Looks cool❤ I'm keen to try it, with a lil bit of changes. Thanks for sharing👌☺️
Feel like this needs to be a stew like consistency.
