I can’t believe how easy this was! Growing hydroponic broccoli took virtually no effort!

    The plumbing part you forgot the name of is 'reducer'.
    I was thinking of a short piece of pipe to help the stem to stand up, however the pipe stub could cause the plant to rely on the outside support rather than self- toughening the stem.
    Also, the stems sometimes get leggy because they have not seen enough sunlight.

    Thanks for sharing! Just curious, how much do you guys make at farmers market and how often do you sell your produce there? Thanks!

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  Год назад

      Your welcome, I’ll say it like this, most of the farmers at our market make as much or more than they would if they were to get a job, but this sometimes can take a year+ to capitalize your farm, discover what sells, and to find the right market.

    Hi Dave, as you over there l am also the grower, seller,deliverer aso. Regarding this we are fully busy in the season......not much time...and it is our first year of experience in hydroponics here. Just one question today. Does your venturi run 24 hours? Following your instructions video it works very well. But l not yet found how to reduce the PH...(8,3)...
    Greetings from Germany. Gisela

      @SaludaGradeFarm  Год назад +1

      Hey there! Hope all is well. Yes I run the Venturi 24/7 with few exceptions. The other day I didn’t have time to top a system off, and the pump was sucking in a little air, I shut it down and topped it off the next day. The roots are still white, so not a problem. That’s the main indication of a healthy amount of airation, Is how do your roots look.
      I use “ph down” on Amazon which is pretty much phosphoric acid. I add gradually as to not harm the plants.
      If the ph rises back up, then your EC might be too low. If your ec is low, then your ph will raise, if your ec is high, then your ph will drop.
      I shoot for equilibrium. I try to get to an EC and PH that will balance out and not move, but never go over 1.4.
      So buy a blue lab EC meter if you can, and make sure you have the proper ec.
      Hope this helps! Wish I had time to do videos to answer your question, but things are crazy here!
      Cheers!

    Great idea. But as the plants use the nutrients this will lead to the nutrient exhaustion. How do you address this daily?

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  Год назад

      This is potentially true, one could shoot for nutrient equilibrium, but anyway, I monitor and adjust the ph and ec in all of my other systems, except this one. I just didn’t have the time to invest in this, but in general you can use ph buffering solutions and add fertilizer. You can monitor the fertilizer content by using a ec meter, and the ph with a ph pen. It’s alot of fun, like a big science experiment.

      @@SaludaGradeFarm So check ph and nutes daily, that's how it's done ! I'm a beginner and was over thinking the whole thing!

    I've tried to do broccoli and i cant seem to get it to stiffen the stems to hold up the plant. Can you give some insight and tips on what I may be doing wrong?

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  Год назад

      Hello, thanks for the question, I believe your talking about the plant getting “leggy” where the plant is stretching to get more light.
      If the plants don’t get enough light, then they will stretch and have weak stems. Also use a balanced fertilizer with epsom slots too.
      If it’s not that, then I’m not sure what it could be, but I hope you figure it out!
      Best,
      Dave

      Hey sorry for the late reply, I keep this at 2.0 ec, but have had good luck with 1.4 too.

    hello what are the nutrients you use for broccoli can you write the stages love from turkey

    • @SaludaGradeFarm
      @SaludaGradeFarm  10 месяцев назад

      Hey I just use master blend formula, with calcium nitrate, and epsom. I keep the EC around 2.0 at all stages except seedling stage is kept at .8. I’ve also had good luck with using the same EC as my letttuce system which is 1.4.

      @SaludaGradeFarm  Год назад

      Hey brother hope you are well! I am using 14” spacing and my ec is 2.0, ph is 6.2. They can tolerate more, but that’s the solution for my tomatoes too, so it’s easier that way!

    Hello, how long you stay on and off ur water pump?

    • @SaludaGradeFarm

      This runs constantly. Turning the pump on and off May save a little electricity, but it will ware the pump out faster. Plus these small pumps don’t cost much to run anyway.
