Who was Noah in the Bible?

The Noah’s Ark Bible story is well-known as the story of God flooding the earth.
Noah is listed as the 9th descendant of Adam in the book of Genesis. It is an early story in the Bible from Genesis 6-11.
The people of the earth are full of wickedness, corruption, and violence. God intends to flood the earth to purify the wickedness, but he finds one righteous man and his family to save.
Noah is described in positive ways:
“But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord” (Gn 6:8).
“Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God” (Gn 6:9).
God told Noah to make a large ark (boat) to hold two of every living creature to be saved from the flood.
God sent the flood for forty days and forty nights.
When the waters subsided, Noah sent out a dove who returned with an olive branch in its beak as a sign of peace.
God then made a covenant with Noah, promising never to flood the earth again and sending a rainbow as a sign of that promise.
The Meaning of the Noah’s Ark Story for Us Today
Noah shows us an example of faith and righteousness before the Lord. While the rest of the world was wicked and corrupt, Noah walked with the Lord and remained close to him. Therefore, God turned to him with a big task to save his creation.
Likewise, God will rely on us to go above and beyond just being a good person. He wants us to be close to him and to walk with him. He will choose us to do his will because we have a close relationship with him.
