  • This video shares an overview of the life and importance of Saint Joseph in the New Testament based on three themes:
    1. Faithful Man
    2. Family Man
    3. Focused Man
Here is a biography of his life:
Saint Joseph in the New Testament was the husband of the Virgin Mary and raised and loved Jesus Christ as his son. While Mary was betrothed to marry Joseph, an angel appeared to her to announce the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Messiah. When Mary became pregnant through the Holy Spirit, Joseph thought it would be best to call off their wedding and avoid bringing public shame upon Mary. Then an angel told him in a dream to take her into his home and raise the boy as his son. Although Joseph lived in Nazareth, he was required to take Mary with him to his family origin in Bethlehem to be registered in a census. There the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus, and they laid him in the manger of a barn because they could not find room in the inn. Joseph had another visit from an angel in a dream who told him to take his family to Egypt to keep Jesus safe from King Herod. Once the king died, the angel appeared to Joseph again to tell him to return to Israel. They made a home in Nazareth in Galilee and Joseph trained Jesus to become a carpenter like himself. Saint Joseph appears once more in a story about the twelve-year-old Jesus getting lost and found in the Temple, but this is the final mention of him. The gospels do not mention his death, but Joseph was likely older than Mary and died before Jesus’s adult ministry.

It's unlikely Joseph was old because the trip to Egypt would have been impossible
