I love that everyone is all "Oh, Paultin has a plan! He said so!" yet not two episodes ago, he admitted that he really doesn't make plans... :p
Chris: I as a DM feel that the best conflicts are the ones characters bring on themselves
Nate: Talkin about me?
yall are so lucky to have Chris Perkins as a DM. Been playing for over 20 years never have I seen a DM even close to him. He lets the players make the story he does not act out player actions. He knows what D&D really is, its a story told between all the people involved, its a time to get together to laugh and have fun! Thank you Chris Perkins.
Matt Mercer is excellent in 'Critical Role' on Geek and Sundry, David Foster whose channel is 'Digital Dungeon Master' is excellent at teaching new players how to play the game. Will(forgot his last name) whose channel is 'Encounter Roleplay' is great for humor and moving a game along. He is currently doing a marvelous campaign called 'Learn by Play' where there are three small instruction sections per game session where the mechanics of the game are explained. On the Misscliks channel there is a GM named Nadia Okator(game name) who is a genius at creating homebrew campaigns. Her campaign 'Misscliks D&D Prophecy' is amazing for its depth of narrative.
I have watched other campaigns and other GM's but Chris and these other four are my favorite. Thank all of you.
So glad you made a comment about this, he really does seem like he moves with everything so seamless its a joy to watch i would give anything to play a session with him.
nahh Chis Perkins has a gift.
at the ending of Game Grump's Dragons and Places you can tell where Jared got his inspiration
Charles Ramsey adam kobell dose the same thing
Damn, I really like Matthew. He is obviously really passionate about D&D, plays his character well and shows a good balance between taking the spot-light and sharing it. He's in my top 5 guest stars yet.
Ardhacandra who are the other 4?
I don't have a definitive list, and I don't remember all of the names. But I also really loved the guy who played the Dark Elf. I thought he was a GREAT example of how you can integrate an evil PC into a good aligned party. I also enjoyed the wereraven a lot. He made the character work very well. The werewolf who rescued paultin is also somewhere high up, because he was pretty bad-ass. I'm not sure about the last spot, there have been quite a few guests and I like most of them. As a matter of fact the only one I didn't like was Anna's boyfriend (or I believe it was her BF).
What about Merdy Kerdy
Yeah, he was also great. It's hard picking a few.
Ardhacandra i liked Xandala the badass captain
"... You would consider his posture threatening."
Nate puts the ring on Handrew in an attempt to decoy, Dragon: Ring! Last Chance! Nate: Pry it off my Cold Dead Hand!
Its not just Chris Perkins. All the players bring so much to the table with their RP and fun action they bring to the table. DMing can be a slog with players staring at you blankly waiting for 'you' to make their decision for them...
Good Lord Mr. Perkins. I'm not even half an hour in and you reminded me again of why you are my Hero when it comes to DMing. I have learned how to be a better DM from watching you."You would consider his posture threatening." Just vague enough to keep the Party from knowing what to do. You Sir, are The Man.
I know right? I am straight up stealing that phrase from him.
I was gonna comment "Bag of Fails", and it would have been super comical, but then he badassed his way out of everything and tanked a dragon breath, so I've got nothing.
Matthew simply Bag of Nailed it this session.
Kocurro ANCIENT Dragon Breath!!!!
Anna's reaction had me borrowing a line from Critical Role: "Evelyn is aroused"
Like most of white text friend's comments the last few. Too late on the draw and posted when statements are already proven untrue. FBM.

Mathew: "It is my goal to live and play in this campaign forever-"
Everyone else: *Laughs cause they know the truth*
A suicidal character in a campaign that has claimed many NPCs and guest PCs. Has he seen this show or was it meant as a joke?
I just now realized that since Artus died and Paultin got the Ring, Diath could have had Bookmark this whole time. They missed out on a +3 weapon that can dimension door.
Probably but I don't think they knew about it. I don't remember it being a thing but then I may have dozed off for a bit here and there.
OMG They remember Paultercation!
One of my favorite episodes thus far. Jared had me rolling with his reactions to things.
That's no moon... That's a fucKIN HUGE DRAGON! RUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
What were the rolls?
"...but no tears, cuz she can't cry" omfg i lost it. You go mr perkins!!
**cries with my normal, free and bonus action**
L0veDanda 1001101 you forgot reaction, hasted action and action surge action, not to mention held action and legendary action.
And magically, the movement action as well
"RIP EVERYTHING (+5)" at 1:20:00 made me laugh way too hard
Chris Perkins cinematic universe.
If they made that possible I would watch it :-)
@@Undead_Queen it would be possible but really difficult. You'd have to get all the character's players permission. And they'd have to be consulted. That's just the first hurdle.
@@broken12smiles yeah that makes sense too many obstacles. Just a fun thought though.
It's a kewl idea but the continuity between crossovers is something awful. Mostly on account of showcasing the same prewritten products.
"You consider his posture threatening ..." Chris, my dude, 'threatening' is kind of a Red Dragons default.
Or any dragon really, even the good ones.
Everyone's reaction to the "and that's where we'll stop" was priceless
I just realized: Klauth had seen the air ship before. Acquisitions Inc spend a night in his glade and they left behind a bunch of treasure as a thank you.
He's not only seen it, he built one based off his memories of it after treasure came flying off the back. It was the one that they flew with Captain Xendala, and the one the Dragon Cultists offer you in Storm King's Thunder (which we wreaked after a roc attacked it, despite a nat 20 to guide it safely to the ground.)
Aaah, right!! I love that it's all connected :)
I love Matthew Lillard. It was such an amazing surprise to see him last session, and I wish he'd become a permanent member of the wafflecrew.
God I am stealing "You would consider its' posture threatening!"
I'm gonna die if there's an eight-player crossover game with AI and Dice camera action at some point.
Right? It is kinda looking like it. Though there was supposed to be a grouping with Force Grey and Acq Inc one year, and that got changed. Too many schedule conflicts I would assume. But yah, that would be cool. Strix would be like "Oh these are my friends that I talked about. Guys these are those other nice people that whisked me away....and Jim"
well.... looks like we get that!
RIP in pieces
So this dude's dead confirmed rip.
Boy, do i have some good news for you!
jared and his blanket is literally me right now
so he has snake deathward, regular death ward, and hag deathward
jag519 lol yup. He is set XD
Wait, the hags shouldn't have given them death wards. The three hags that visited them didn't so much give them death wards as they gave them perma-death immunity from getting phylactery'd out of the game forever. Unless you meant something else I'm neglecting at the moment.
Wait a minute.... I thought those hags made doppelgängers of the party, I was pretty sure they didn't get deathward from the hags; they were supposed to stop the decay the party was suffering from.
They were tricked by the hags and/or Shameshka
+Adam Stroh
No no no. The doubles were an aftermath of Strix' hair-pies. At the end of episode 64, after the third and last night with the hags, Perkins described that the hags had placed a second soul inside them that'll act as a getaway for when the soulmonger will attempt to pull their souls into the Phylactery. It was the ritual that the vampire-dude had them pull that was supposed to (and did) provide a way to circumvent the decay.
Doesn't matter, its goddamn Klauth aka Old Snarl. A regular Red Great Wyrm is a CR 22 but this one's a Legendary Creature, so who the fuck knows. No amount of Deathwards are gonna save you if he kills everybody else.
"Now I am your greatest enemy. FIGHT!" -Bag of Nails
If only Klauth knew how true that quote was!
I like how into it Matt was.
seems like the only character so far to not die after meeting the waffle crew,
is the person who has a deathwish... xD
Late I know, but Kozin got away.
Really late but didn't Emil survive?
Super duper late, but don't forget Mordenkainen!
I know I'm super early, but Dee survived too... Probably. We still don't know what Paultin did to her
@@Nerdywolf18 According to Erica and Chris she is alive but beyond that they haven't said
Started rewatching over spring break, I miss Bag of Nails sooo much
A Bag of Nails, a Bag of Nails oh everything's better with a Bag of Nails,

omg, i'm so glad someone linked me to the acq inc episodes with strix, so now i know who the blimp people are! haha
Distraction Force: the Movie
Diaths safety blanket
I love how Nate says "My son!" :D
Nate says "I glance at the airship and I see Bag Of Nails swinging the harpoon around to fire. I hold up my hand with the ring to Klauth and I say... 'Get rekt.' And I curse him to be vulnerable to piercing damage."
Perkins smirks and rolls Klauth's save. It's a nat one. Perkins' smirk disappears.
Sadly, I know Klauth can just negate saving throw fails, so this won't happen, but I can't imagine a more satisfying conclusion.
It wouldn't cut it regardless. Even from vulnerability against a Ballista, Ancient Red Dragons have something like way over 500 health. After sustaining a not inconsiderable blow, Klauth will just melt the Blimp with his Dragon's Breath and the Waffle Crew'll have to deal with a wholly pissed off Legendary Ancient Red Dragon.
I was actually wondering what Acq-Inc's dragonkiller harpoon is capable of. So it does classify as a standard ballista?
Don't forget, the first 50 or so HP was taken down by lightning arrows, so he's down to ~500 hp. A normal ballista does 3d10 damage. I'm sure theirs does at least double that, probably more than quadruple if it's for dragons.
Ok. Yeah, SheepSkate's thinking is kind of along the same lines as mine was. I imagine a ballista bolt as something like six or eight feet long and three to five inches thick. Perkins described Acq-Inc's ammo as being sixteen feet long, so I'm picturing something with the potential to do 100+ damage in a go.
Heck, the crew sure seems to have a lot of faith in it!
Bag of Nails continues to be the best guest character on DCA
what about Murdykurdy? Or Chumba/Wumba?
A matter of taste. Wumba certainly isn't on my list but then he was meant not to be.
I saw the Acq Inc blimp, really confused by the tiefling half elf, and gnome, until I realized it was Hells Adjacent Hibner, Elandria Brimp, and the gnome that Isnt Scubby Hornswallow, the only one the who mattered to me
Who?
@@tripatomz3441 A bunch of NPCs that crew the airship lol
Good to see Bag of Nails make a return this episode.
He always comes back.
I just noticed the character portraits. Lookin' good!
I think the Evelyn overdoes the automaton angle. Well drawn but not character accurate.
This is the nicest ancient red dragon. He didn't kill them all immediately or anything they normally do.
We need a compilation of all the times one of the players tries talking while they're muted.
So they don’t tell poor bag of nails that when he dies his soul is drawn into the soul monger not the hunting fields he f his ancestors. SMH
Because he wouldn't. The soulmonger only gets those people who have already died and come back - that's the whole point of the death curse.
Matthew Lillard, aka the dopey brother from The Perfect Score (I never saw Scooby Doo), is my favorite guest star thus far.
1:02:23 may the dragon consume you oh wait
Am I the only one who feels Matthew is channeling Mako with the voice? :D And love it :D
Definitely could be. Uncle Iroh Bag of Nails is not however.
"You would consider its posture threatening."
No Shit, Sherlock!
Chris Perkins: he takes half damage, or a quarter if he made the save.
Evasion: When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
True but Perkins doesn't manage the players character sheets. If they don't remember or point out their abilities he won't remember to factor that in.
I like how they all have their comfort objects at this point.
Matthew Lillard is the dude.
I know Chris is doing his best to keep the party alive, but man, I would like to see him really unleash those dragons one day. Legendary actions, resistances, and such. Just to make people realize how formidable they are and that it’s probably a bad idea to start an impromptu battle with one.
Yeah I see both sides. A CR 25 (I believe?) however is not something the crew can reasonably handle.
And yes I understand that you understand but I feel the need to point it out for posterity.
i just realized...
after listneing to him two weeks in a row i just noticed that bag of nails looked familiar, and imdb'd him
ITS SHAGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE ZOINKSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just did the same thing. About 30 minutes into this second episode, I was like, "is that the guy from Hackers?"
@@ChristopherMeadors my boss at work knows Matt lillard from some renissance fairs back when Matt was like 19
Damn, this was a good one.
Perkins is my favorite.
This is so intense.
26:00
Holly: I think I remember them.
Me: Also that there used to be four and you're at fault?
xD
so many times the dragon would have attacked or did more such a majestic creature should be played it its potential
Just wondering, does Paultin's Hut protect them from fire? 🔥?
Paultin's hut protects from EVERYTHING. According to the way that spell is written, Klauth could drop another planet on them, and they'd be fine inside that hut... For eight hours.
It would give Acquisitions Incorporated time to try again and temporarily protect the waffle crew.
Just a thought. But then again I'm not in the midst of the chaos so it's easier for me sitting on my couch.
The waffle crew is doing an amazing job as always.
I believe it has a full minute casting time, so 10 rounds. Not a chance to get that out during combat.
SheepSkate I was just wondering if a minute or two had gone by between when the dragon was battling Bag of Nails and when it showed back up in front of Paultin in the ruins.
I guess that's a moot point if Chris still had them in initiative.
Matthew Lillard? Like, Jinkies! Zoinks! Ruh-Roh! Any more Scobby-Doo references?
Wow Matthew lillard?!?! WOWWWWWW slc punk is one of my FAVORITE movies of all time.
WOOOWWW.
thanks for blowing my minds guys.
“You can certainly try it.’ Lol
I'm at 45:03 and I'm thinking, Ice dragon, ice dragon...IDK if he can actually make one but...
Zoro Roronoa I think the ring of winter can only make a beast of challenge rating 2 or lower
He was refering to "Flesh to Ice", like what happened to the white dragon in an earlier episode. Would still be pretty much near impossible, though.
Ardhacandra oh right crap haha!
Sorry, my bad! I doubt it would work tho- legendary resistance and all
Don't worry, lol. I understand the mix-up. And yeah, legendary resistance, good con + requiring multiple turns. Even if it WOULD work it would prob kill Paultin in the process.
1:27:00 never expected to see an R Kelly reference on a D&D stream!
What did paultin say at 47:40 when he was reflecting on his life?
I don’t know either! The glitch was in the most annoying place!
43:00 you can still dimension door.... too low a level to be fighting this right now....
The only thing that sorta bothered me during this episodes were the Yuan-Ti that somehow still see it as reasonable to fight the Waffle Crew instead of legging it the hell outta dodge while a fucking red-dragon is looming over them. I don't care if Strix blasted them with a Fireball, the only reason they haven't died is because the Dragon hasn't felt like it just yet. Unless they're under a charm or otherwise doing things robotically, there's little reason why anyone wouldn't just use the guise of their snake forms to try and creep out of this scene before they're obliterated.
I actually thought thats what they did at the end of last episode anyway ... not sure and cant be fucked to check though ...
We're just gonna ignore the phrase "legging it" in reference to snake people, huh? lol
You do have a point, though. It does seem a little unnecessary. I'm sure there's a reason why Chris decided to keep them there. But as the previous comment said, I also thought they had scampered away. Maybe they didn't get too far away. Thaaaat's Waffle Crew, though. They always have all the things happening at once.
My guess is that these Yuan-ti aren't the ones that ran off and so they have no idea that Klauth is there. They probably didn't know that it was him who knocked down that wall either and so they just went snake mode to continue what they were doing; in this case, killing the waffle crew.
Darryl Rogers: This is a fair point. I like this idea.
I dunno. It just seems pokey and beyond all of that, it's just an odd thing to reel back to. Like, all things considered, Klauth should be the centerpoint of this event, with front-stage attention. Like, my problem isn't that the Yuan-Ti are too much on the plate (With the Red Dragon in the room, that argument's out the window). It's more that they're just a waste of time. I mean, this is *the* dragon of the Forgotten Realms. You'd think that's a big enough guy to warrant all attention drawn, especially considering his CR laps the players' expected encounter-balance 2 times over at the very least (not factoring in all of Klauth's unique capabilities over a generic Red Dragon). It's not a session-breaker, but it's just a bit dumb in my opinion.
Evelyn gets aura of courage next level, so they're level 9, after ~150 hours. Does that sound right?
I think they're like level 11-12 or so. Remember, the team didn't have to roll saves for the Frightful Presence, which would imply they already have the aura of courage with them. I take as evidence the fact that Evelyn uses a d8 for her Divine Smite, which is a level 11 improvement. I remember Paultin casting Animate Object back during the Storm King's Thunder event, which is something Bards only gain access to at level 9. I'd imagine they've leveled up in the over 10 episodes it's been since that.
They should have been level 10 by now after all the stuff they've been through. That should be brought up
Well that and hitting level cap often end games. Though the fall out of events surrounding Jared's divorce kind of made that moot.

what is that airship, I haven't watched any episodes earlier than 60
It's from the Acquisitions Inc. game that Strix guest stared in.
What ZYR47 said. Acquisitions Incorporated is another show that Chris DMs, with a different team of characters. This airship belongs to that team, so this is... Kind of a crossover, I guess?
Anyway, the leader of that team owned a magical contract that allowed him to summon Strix and basically enslave her(which turned out funnier than it sounds). They became friends during the short time she spent with them.
The airship and crew just happened to be nearby and they recognize Strix, so now they're here to save the day with their giant dragon-killer harpoon!
You should check out the two episodes that Strix spent with them. Search RUclips for "Acquisitions incorporated, enter the trash witch". It was very fun and you get to see Holly cosplay as Strix, which is always good!
Actually the airship has been around since PAX Prime 2014 when Acq Inc faced the Dragon Cult and the Green Dragons. It's just become their main way to travel to spots now is all. Aqc Inc is also trying to destroy the Soul Monger too. So they are in Chult as well. The team driving it was just the crew as the main Acq Inc team is investigating. But yah, the Airship has been around for sometime. Was super cool when it first came out too! (Still is super cool honestly).
Think of it like the CW's Arrowverse kinda stuff with Green Arrow, Flash and Legends all showing up on the same show, or one or two characters making cameos. Aqc Inc and Dice, Camera, Action are all in the same Universe, but have their own things to do. But sometimes the Characters can cross.
paladonis this really makes me want an avengers infinity war style episode where all the characters from dice camera action acquisitions inc and critical role join together to take down a dragon or something, it could be like in a panel format at a convention
@Dusty I would agree with Aqc inc and D.C.A., but Critical Role would be a bit too RP heavy for the other teams and not really set in the same Universe. It would be neat, but I think that would be a LOT of different personalities to have to deal with. Would be interesting though!
What level are they here?
3 ball caps in one place
At first I thought everyone was wearing caps and essentially in Chris Perkins cosplay. Jared & Holly must of missed the memo.
love me some strix
Do they still have the magical flask that traps creatures? If they should of used it.
Is Klauth from the material plane though? If so, it won't work unless they could somehow get him into a pocket dimension or something.
Oh shit I just realized they have new character art!
Such an epic episode. Chris juggles his narrative and action so well. Love Strix, but Hollie needs to tone down the squawks.
is it me, or does Bag Of Nails sound like Hanzo? I half expected him to do the Ryuu Wa Ga Teki Wa Kurau
will eevelyn ever get her metal axe back

I'm just seeing this because there's nothing left to do for the weekend. Fucking boring.
First episode of twenty eighteen, not two thousand eighteen. You weren't born in the one thousand nine hundreds, but in the nineteen hundreds. The battle of Hastings was in ten sixty six, not one thousand sixty six.
