For like 3 episodes, Team Suboptimal has been walking around with the magical equivalent to a tactical nuke, blissfully unawares. Now that they know what it is, it's subject to the "This is fine" aura that eminates from them.

Evil wizards would use the Ring of Winter to take over the world. Paultin uses it to make cuddly ice animals. Probably the safest owner ever.

I'm really happy to see Paultin SO much more invested in his character as well as really coming up with some interesting ideas. A huge disparity from the early episodes when DCA began. The show is SO much better when all four are so attentive and involved. Bravo.
He's been slowly getting more into it properly, but I feel like episode 73 was where he hit the stride that made him so much more invested. It felt like a huge difference between the two episodes, though.

I completely agree. Nate has really done great for a while now, and it's a real pleasure to see him play. I used to be a hater, and now I'm a fan.
The quip-text guy was really asleep at the wheel this episode. "Selling burnt grass for gold. Business savy veggies." Was up for more than half the episode.
53:10 - 53:19 Anna knows what's up and Jared's smirk confirms he knew exactly what he was saying. Subtle Jared, i love it. I'm sure theres a million of these throughout the series that no one noticed
Fourth Reich I can't tell if you're kidding or not. If you're not, Jared/Diath made a super subtle Striath ship hint that Anna caught. He wasn't talking about her lantern
I love the idea that Anna ships it, just trying to lead it more into cannon

This feels weird. I've been binge watching this series for the last several months, and now I'm finally caught up... guess I'll have to wait a week!
Several months?! I think its been a little more than a week when I started watching season 2. Now I am here.

I wonder exactly how much control does that ring have over Paultin? cause the last check was a 13 and he hasn't changed too much...
Mikoto Yamashima it could be a point system? Or maybe Chris is saving it to lull them into a false sense of security? It’s what I would do. I once had a player sacrifice his eyes to a fallen god for a wish and there seemed to be no effect aside from a small loss to perception. (He could still see.) it wasn’t till way later they discovered the creature could see through his eyes and affect what he saw.
Judging purely off of what chris said the last few episodes I feel like the ring more or less has full control over paultin. I think the reason he hasn't changed much is that the ring for the time being is content with letting paultin do his own thing unless his desires conflict with it's desires (like with it not letting paultin just hand it over to klauth)
Also I feel like chris still wants nate and the crew to be able to make their own decisions and not detract from their main focus of the tomb. I'm sure we'll see more controlled Paultin soonish, and it will be a cliffhanger to remember
Whats odd is that we know that the ring is evil, but it hasn't really acted that way. It may be the fact that the ring knows not to do anything till Paultin is alone or does not have anyone to stop taking control over him. I am curious more about the personality in the ring now. It isn't a person, but a personality which is intresting.
I honestly feel like nate is pulling a Jared from season 1. Everything is very passive and subtle, once everything plays out we'll be able to come back and see what led up to the chaos that we're inevitably going to see
Its controled him to the point he cant let anyone take it. So itll affect if its risking everyones life and paultin has to give the ring he wont physically be able to

Chris told us the reason for this earlier: the death curse affects only humanoids, a creature type in D&D that includes tieflings, humans, dwarves, and other creatures but does not include rodents which are beasts.
If I recall correctly, Juniper died when everyone else did in Barovia, but was resurrected at the same time, and the death curse won't have any effect on her because, as has already been said, she's not humanoid

Waffles aged from a baby to a senior owlbear when the waffle crew traveled to the past and Strix, Simon & Waffles were stuck in Barovia’s past for 50 years.

She used to, he was a Cranium Rat called Stinky. SPOILER ALERT:
When the Waffle Crew were summoned back to Barovia and sent back in time, all of them were killed except for Strix. She lived, mourning, in Barovia for 50 years, but eventually made new allies who helped her resurrect the Waffle Crew. She used some kind of blood magic to slow her own ageing. Waffles the Owlbear is currently 50 years old or so, Strix is older too of course (she only physically aged by like 3 years or so), and Stinky just died of natural causes, having a much smaller lifespan.
RIP Stinky.
Yup. And Juniper is alive because Evelyn asked for her to be resurrected too. RIP Stinky.

Sorry, I'm not certain which one you're talking about, but it's possible she did forget, or perhaps if it was a second swing, she might not get the strength bonus? I may be wrong because I didn't look up how her second attack works, though.
13:00 - You right, that was her second swing, but in doesn't matter, because you don't add STR/DEX bonus to dmg only for attacks with off-hand weapon.
its not an off hand attack as its a 2h weapon
