    Why did he use long travel suspension and mid range suspension (stage two) on the rear?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  3 года назад

      The rear does travel a little further than it did stock but on all fifth gen 4runners you are limited by the fuel tank and the upper links.

    I’m a photographer as well How much would it cost me for you to build me a similar rig?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  2 года назад

      you would have to call the shop and plan out a build, there is far too much that goes into our builds than what we can put out on pricing here.

    Hey, dude, you and I share the exact same scar on our left forearm. Mine is a tad over 12" though. I was on ODA 732 - you sound prior-service (in your manner of speak) did that break of your radius and ulnar come from work done for Uncle Sam? Seriously good video btw. Don't worry about the "smile or out of shape" comments by the way - this isn't a kindergarten video.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  4 года назад +1

      Hey thanks! Haha it’s ok. The trolls are gonna comment but no one cares. I’m here to pass on info. As simple as that. Just answering questions before they come in. Thank you for your service! Yes I am prior service. Since high school I’ve got combined 18 years military/law enforcement time. Just trying to keep it real because I’ve had to rely on my equipment for a living and I’m tired of seeing so many companies building garbage just to take peoples money.

      @@TAVLLC Right on, I'm adding Toyota to my Jeep arsenal. Thanks for the info - it really helps. It helps a Jeeper like me who has no prior Toyota experience. I understand all of the mechanical and electrical components of the Jeep's systems but when it comes to Toyotas, I'm lost.

    dang, this is a nice 4runner. i keep thinking i want to get a gx for the v8, though it'd require a bit more work to be overland-ready. but these 4runner builds are making me think i should just get one ....

    Bro. AMAZING build. But why get the TRD package if you plan to mod it so heavily? no critique here, just wondering what your thinking is on that.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  3 года назад

      Thank you! The customer bought it that way and built it later. But I always just tell people to buy the trim level they like the most because there is far more to the TRD trim level than just the shocks.

    Actually, a serious question - 4Runners are offered with only one engine (in the USA). When I tried the car, it felt OK at best, but I was slightly worried about the torque and overall BHP vs. rpm curve. Adding a lot of gear to improve ruggedness and overland/offroad capability - adds quite a bit of weight - how does this affects the ... well, how does it drives after all is added?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  6 лет назад +1

      Sorry for the late reply here. During the build process we have almost all of the vehicles new weight already figured in so we can get the spring rates correct. We then re gear the truck for the new tire diameter as well as aiding in pushing the new moving mass of the truck. It is an extremely functional modification that we make in all of our expedition builds.

    • @strelnikoff7
      @strelnikoff7 6 лет назад

      Thank you for the reply! It's not late, I'm still debating should I go for new TRD Pro model or wait until newer and updated one comes along. Perhaps 2020 model - which means next year... if not - I'll just go for the latest on offer.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  6 лет назад +1

      I couldn't imagine a newer model 4Runner being much better than what is currently available. It already does more stuff than you really need anyway. They're really nice trucks as it is.

      Almost all SUVs will see noticeable power deficiencies of adding additional weight from aftermarket bumpers, lift kits, larger wheels, and additional gear. The one thing that most 4runner/Tacoma owners do is add 4.88 gearing. It reduces top speed(as expected), but GREATLY enhances the engines ability to deliver low-end hp and torque that is more important on these vehicles.

    Could that suspension set up work with KDSS?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  5 лет назад

      We bypass the KDSS and run a Currie anti rock in the rear. No sway bars in the front on any of these long travel trucks. No need for them.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  6 лет назад

      The TRD pro is a trim package on the inside of the truck as well. The only thing we didn't use from the TRD pro was the shocks and springs.

      @@TAVLLC The only difference on the interior of a PRO vs an TRD ORP is that the carpet mats say "TRD PRO" instead of "TRD Off-Road". You could have purchased those mats for an extra $100 from most dealers. (Personally I took mine out and replaced with all weather mats). Not to mention w the ORP you can opt for KDSS & a moonroof.

    • @stithis
      @stithis 5 лет назад +2

      maybe he wanted more out of the truck...so he modded it..people mod vehicles that are modded from factory....i see many modded 997 gt3rs's, modded ferraris, lambos, evos, stis, list goes on.

    • @Rooster_king
      @Rooster_king 4 года назад

      Yes if you're going to rip the factory suspension out don't get a pro unless you want to give the dealership an extra $5K tip. Get the ORP and put whatever suspension you want and you'll spend about the same.

    I dont see the point of getting a Pro. Swapped out the suspension and wheels. Plus it doesnt have any special color to it.. reason why i went with the ORP. Pretty much Pro interior plus a moonroof.. i only wanted a Pro 4R for that special Cement Grey color. Found one used but dealer still wanted 48k pft.. went with a new 2020 instead. Good clean build though i must say.
