Thanks for the great memories! Back in 1990 my parents spent $180.00 to buy my first pumps. They were cross trainers white on purple. I felt like a king when they bought then. When I showed up in school grade 4 I was the first to ever own reebok pump. I felt like a king and was treated like a king! $ 180 back in 90 is like $500 today. When I remind my parents they still cry how it was there week pay cheque I remember feeling like a king they remember the pain LOL! Cheers!
fdujin2011 I had a pair as well when they came out, I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. Looking back I feel bad, they were so expensive and we were not a rich family, I’m sure that hurt my parents budget quite a bit
I was born in 1980 I got my Reebok Pumps Christmas 1990 , lol that was my "Big" present god I loved them ,they really hyped them up too We went to footlocker and i tried them on prior too Xmas and come Xmas morning I put them on but wouldn't walk on anything but carpet lol.Never felt like that about a pair of shoe except maybe my that next year for Xmas getting my 1991 Bo Jacksons .

Sure, you can sell them. The sneaker market isn't as hot as it was a couple of years ago but people will still buy vintage pairs like yours to do a midsole swap. As for worth, that depends largely on size and condition (aside from the crumbling polyurethane midsoles). Is all the plastic intact? Are they clean? Any scuffs? Any mold? Do both pumps work?
i just found in my closet. a new pair of pumps from 1993. never worn. i have not seen them in 20 years. now they are called insta pump dry rat and they are red and white and a football turf shoe pump. they are mint. never even had light on them. sealed in a box for 30 years or so. do you know anything about them.

I had a pair of the original Michael Chang Reebok tennis pumps back when they first came out. They were awesome. White and florescent green. I remember the pump on the toe felt and looked like a tennis ball.
Yep. the retro ones have the same tennis ball but sadly many Pumps seem to hardly function. I'm working on restoring my pair of original Michael Changs. They have some old brown glue stains I'm trying to erase.
great video! i love my 89 white/blue pair and my 2009 white/blue pair. havent gotten the white/black as you have here, definitely a fan. the 2004 retro fell short with that toe box.
I would say it's comparable to the retro ones, which have a considerable amount. I usually go up half a size. I think the vintage shoes might also be a bit more narrow.
Those Kilates Pumps are absolutely amazing! I'd love to get a pair of them. As I type this, I'm waiting on UPS arriving with my 2014 re-release of the '89 Pump in the original colour scheme. Looking forward to trying them out!

That's hard to say because they're not wearable and sometimes come with other issues (non functioning pumps, crumbling insoles, cracking plastics, missing box, etc). A pair that has none of those issues except for a crumbling midsole? Hmmm...I would say $50-100 depending on the demand. Could go higher if people want to do a midsole swap with the current hexalite twilight zone midsoles.
Yes I got the black/white and white/blue 2014 Pumps for $102 each. I'm working on a video for it. I feel the quality isn't as nice as the 2009s but I still love the silhouette.

If you want a pair of originals or retros, eBay is your best bet though they're rare. I think I saw a pair of originals for sale on Instagram but originals are never wearable. This year is the shoe's 30th anniversary so maybe Reebok will retro them once more.

I had a pair of these when I was playing jr high basketball in '89-'90 and they were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Nike's didn't have an arch.
@@kevin15776 Oh man that's a long time ago. I never had a problem with them, I ended up wearing them out but the pump never stopped working. I think a couple eyelets tor out but they got kinda ratty and were thrown away. I could never comfortably wear Nike which is sad cause Nike's headquarters is a few miles down the road.
I used to have two of the original pumps. Mine was white with some purple on it, the other was black with a little bit of white. I must have had them up in my closet for over 20 years and when I went to get them they had actually fallen apart. the whole bottom part of the shoes just fell apart like sand. oh those were the white and purple ones. I don't know what happened to the black ones they just vanished. I was the only one in high school that had them and it got me a lot of attention from the girls. some of them would even start saying dirty things as they would pump my shoes up. it was ridiculous.
Glad they helped you with the ladies! :) Yeah, a lot of late 80s/early 90s sneakers have polyurethane midsoles that fall apart after 15 or so years, especially if not worn. Before that most brands used rubber soles and after the mid 90s they made midsoles with more durable materials.
Selector Jah eBay, Instagram, and Facebook vintage sneaker groups. Some models will still be wearable but others (those with ERS) will probably not be wearable and the midsoles will crumble.

Wore them to school the first day I got them to gym class and they got stolen out of my locker =( I'm happy to say I bought myself another pair recently, the same colored white/neon green twilight zones! Yes they were Purple. They lasted forever, that kind of quality is history. The leather was great quality! and the pump never leaked.

C Castro I go up half a size but you might be fine going true to size. I'm a 7.5 in most Jordans and Reebok Kamikazes but prefer an 8 in Reebok Pumps.

I heard there will not be a 30th anniversary edition of the original Pump as Reebok is focusing more on the anniversary of the Instapump instead.
