@@rfbftp123 its a ute thing. You probably wouldn't understand
That went from "uh-oh" to "holy shit bro" at about 80kmh.
Thumbs up to the dashcam driver for reversing course to offer assistance, and to Toyota for designing a vehicle that can perform a half-somersault-backflop without turning the occupants into chunky sauce (description states both occupants walked away, probably not worth buying a lotto ticket for a couple of years after that).
But not one with effective chassis management so it doesn't crash when it loses traction.
@@milamber319 Are you really blaming that on the vehicle with no idea of what actually happened? Seriously?
@@marvindebot3264 It's pretty clear there was no traction control or stability control active in the car. the brake lights normally flicker on and off and the car gets jerky as it tries despirately to keep the car moving forward. (generally by clamping the brakes on and off on the back drivers wheel to cause the car to rotate back around) but toyota utes while they look cool and fancy tend to have the chassis management system of cars from 2 decades earlier.
They are brain dead. If a modern system from the time that ute was made was active in this ute it probably would have at least reduced the slide significantly.
@@milamber319 like all utes, they are dangerous pieces of crap in even good conditions let alone when it’s wet. No wonder the road toll is going up exponentially
@@user-vk4vd7vr5t Absolutely. I don't even have a problem with them in concept, but the ute makers don't take safety seriously and cheap out massively when they have the tech to do it right. ...and its not like these things are cheap either.

With glossy roads like that? With a/t tyres? In a heavy Hilux? At that speed while turning? I was fully expecting that tbh with you. Driver was daydreaming. Hope he was alone in there, that's a seriously bad outcome for his mistake.
@@daviddou1408 A laughable reply with no material value but as to attack and let me know that you're pissed off. Regardless of the minor details in my reply and whatever your intentions, the truth of the matter is, the driver did not drive suitably according to the conditions. Nothing jumped out in front of them, this was not some accident outside of his control. He chose (or not chose) what to do that day. Now will the police determine that he was driving without care and attention or will they let this one slide I do not know. I can only hope that he himself has learned a lesson that day and that the video serves as a graphic warning to others to pay their full attention where it's due, to think ahead and understand physics and mechanics when they get behind the wheel of a 2.5ton brick on wheels and travel at speed.
@@hayloft3834 you should read your own comment mate. This is my first message addressed to you. The funny thing is, you are having a pop at me for the exact thing you've just done. Pathetically comical don't you think? 😅
And with regards to "speed" even 20kph is too fast if the road conditions demand a speed slower than 20kph, just try and drive in snow and you'll see that you can sometimes walk faster in the snow on the pavent, faster than the vehicles trying to drive through it. Just like this video, it doesn't matter what the speed limit is of the road, it's the drivers responsibility to pay attention, understand and stay within the capabilities of themselves and their vehicle and this is exactly what the driver did not do here. This shows yourself and others in this thread lack capacity for understanding.
Abusing me for missing a single sentence description stating number of occupants which as yourself and others have done is pathetically childish and irrelevant. To do as I had done which was to point out the key takeaway that the driver was going too fast and crashed seems to have gone way over your heads. But maybe the real issue is lack of mental capacity for the most part. I hope you stay safe on the road. I bet you're one of those that will end up driving against the flow of traffic on the wrong side of the road heading towards oncoming vehicles, because you're too thick and oblivious to read the road. You're a danger to yourself and others and have apparently learned absolutely nothing from the video you obviously feel so passionately about. Australia would be a much better place without you lot on the road, angry, arrogant and thick as shit.
I regularly see people in rangers , hiluxes etc running the gauntlet in wet weather. These are big heavy vehicles with relatively poor weight distribution need to be driven more carefully than cars.

This is the thing with all of these utes. People think they are safer driving a big truck around but their handling limits are ridiculously low. Guaranteed a regular car with decent tires would not have broke into snap oversteer like that. Another entertaining vid to watch is the hilux "moose test".
I've owned, and driven, several utes. Yes, it's a bit easier to lose the back end, but really, they aren't that much different to driving a car. The tyres on this Hilux must have been almost completely bald.
AWD or front wheel drive would not have the same problem, but any RWD could, It was wet and they accelerated as they hit those slippery white lines.
That's not snap oversteer, that's just plain old oversteer.
Tyres are a really critical choice on utes, especially higher utes. I’ve had utes for decades, and found incredible differences in wet road traction of different tyres.
