    • @getalife107
      @getalife107 2 месяца назад +2

      Funds have nothing to do with reliability. It has superior engineering, reliability, resale value, availability of parts, robustness, reputation, longevity customer satisfaction. Toyota Motor Company has never, never merged with any other car company. Toyota Motor Company stands by itself. The DPF was in the old model, not the new model. That's all been rectified. I own a 2022 model SR5. I cannot fault it. When I update, it will be a Toyota Hilux. Also, in the Ford Raptor V6. The alternator is down the bottom where it gets water and the bottom radiator is made out of plastic, not rubber. Have a great day mate.

    Why is the Hilux interior not getting more criticism??!! It is the ugliest and cheapest thing I've ever seen. Quite literally *8 years old*. No major upgrades since 2016. The worst part? It's 75k. At least in the Raptor it's priced according to it's quality, capability and tech. I can spend 30k on a Mitsubishi and get 5 times the interior of the Hilux. Not to mention that there's no upgrades to the drivetrain, and it's still leaf sprung. It's literally just a body kit. The next gen needs to do better.

    The Raptor (previous model & this one) was basically built for the crap roads in South Africa. There is no other choice. Besides, when you want something for offraoding 11 of 12 months of the year, then rather get a Unimog. Otherwise, these will spend MOST of there life on tar roads. Once again, Raptor the choice here. And really, who drives ANY car for more than 250 000km or 5 years?

    Very easy to answer this question - the Ford Ranger Raptor is much better and a far superior vehicle to the Toyota HiLux GR Sport. The Toyota HiLux GR Sport is absolute TRASH and there is really no comparison between these two vehicles. The rear suspension on the Toyota is absolutely AWFUL and the ride quality is abysmal - there actually is no ride quality, it's painful. The engineering on it is archaic and agricultural compared to the Ford. I've driven it so this is my opinion. In contrast the Raptor has - modern rear suspension design and much higher quality and higher performance dampers; a 4auto mode for superior all weather traction on wet and snowy roads where 4H can't be used, compared to being limited to 2H or 4H in the GR Sport; V6 engine instead of a 4 cylinder engine in the GR Sport; the Ford engine is petrol which is what you want for an off road performance vehicle, compared to the Toyota which is a diesel (and if you didn't know you should avoid diesel unless you really need it because it contains some of the most carcinogenic substances known to mankind); higher quality and more insulated interior cabin; significantly bigger wheels and tyres; the all terrain tyres have a 3PMSF severe snow service rating while the GR Sport does not; the Ford also has a front locking differential so it has 3 locking differential and the Toyota only has the 2 locking diffs; the list probably goes on. There are no doubt more differences but there is really no comparison between these vehicles. The Ford Ranger Raptor is an expensive vehicle but it is an extremely good vehicle. The Toyota HiLux GR Sport is also an expensive vehicle but it is an absolute rip off because it is lacking so much of the fundamental performance engineering of the Ford Ranger Raptor. You'd be an idiot to get the Toyota.

  • @ulehuleh

    I know you did mention it..but it really bothers me that everyone forgets that this current 8th generation hilux was first released back in 2015 and of course as you said it has undergone facelifts etc but really not much has changed, so of course its behind in really every way, but its proven and reliable. Unfortunately all these carmakers dont release their new models/generations in sync so they are never really an apples for apples comparison. So of course the ford is far fancier inside and more up to date with tech etc, but when toyota finally release a 9th generation then we can do a better comparison. Fords have always had a niggly reputation for reliability and build quality issues, they seem to prioritise leading tech and stance over reliability

    The magic sauce will be in the Hybrid version and fuel consumption. Toyota engines are reliable but to add the GR name to something you need to step-up vs the Ranger Raptor. Me thinks it could be hybrid tech. Relating to liners, rubber not plastic, it will rust.

    Why does an $89k vehicle not have a soft opening tailgate? You should be able to let it go and it drops slowly and softly without a bang. Crikey - ALL Utes should do this. It’s like soft close drawers in the kitchen.
    I’m not really sure why they talk about tyres much as these are a consumable item and you as choose any tyres you want - even when you buy it. You just tell the dealer to fit the tyres you want before purchase. The factory tyres aren’t a requirement - almost no one keeps them anyway.
    Parking any Ute is a cakewalk. I drive a 6.6m long BoxTruck in the city and it’s easy to park - without a rear mirror too.

    Sam I love the effort you and the team put into these videos, but please this is a stupid comparison.
    The Hilux GR Sport is no competitor to the Ranger Raptor and you know it, a more fair comparison obviously is Hilux GR Sport v Ranger Wildtrack X (which is sold out).
    The Ranger Raptor clearly sits alone in its own market segment.
    Also since you guys insist on doing such comparisons then why was the Nissan Navara Pro4X not included (not the Warrior version)? Granted the Navara wont win anything other than maybe metro ride (due to coil spring rear suspension) but it still should of been included.

Put in a 3" lift suspension kit $3.5k, new, bigger rims, tyres $5k, dyno it $1k, front locker $1k....you've got a very good ute, that you've added your own custom too that drives very well and it's still cheaper then the Raptor and does 10.5l/100 instead of 16l/100. It has a higher tow capacity and weight capacity.
