If we include the regular season, then yes, the Giants had one rough road. The hardest in NFL, I'd argue, for the Super Bowl era. If we are just talking about the playoffs? The 2005 Steelers had a much tougher road. The teams they had to beat to get there were juggernauts. Manning at peak performance, Palmer having a career year, and a 13-3 Broncos squad. The Giants at least got a week of a breather against the Buccaneers.

@@KuroiRenge I disagree and so do game historians. The Bucs were favored and were division champs. No "breather" there. The Cowboys and Green Bay were just as good as the teams you mentioned if not better, and at the time Green Bay was practically unbeatable in the playoffs in Green Bay, but the Giants changed that. Oh, the 2005 Steelers were division champs as well, so they were on an even level with the teams you mentioned unlike the Wild Card Giants.

I'll NEVER get tired of seeing these Super Bowl XLII highlights 😀I'll always remember the build-up to the game, how the Patriots were already being anointed the 'Perfect team', how the Giants were heavy underdogs, how coach Coughlin was getting criticized for 'playing to win' in Week 17 when the Giants already had their playoff spot locked up & how pretty much people practically wanted the Giants to 'lay down' & just let the Patriots have their perfect record without so much as a challenge, yet the Giants hung right with the Pats in that game &, though they lost, they walked away with even MORE confidence that they could compete w/ the Patriots. I didn't necessarily believe the Giants would win, I just felt that 'if they can just keep the game interesting, that's all'. Like everyone else probably, I expected the Pats would find a way to win like they had all season. But most of all I'll NEVER forget that final Giants drive down the field, that spectacular catch by Tyree, and THEN Plaxico Burress, the guy who'd brazenly said the Giants would win, make the game-winning TD catch. And finally Eli Manning stepping out from the shadow of big brother Peyton who was there to see it as well. The 2007 New York Giants winning the Super Bowl will ALWAYS be one of my favorite sports moments for years to come. 😀
Everything you wrote makes that super bowl team the best in my opinion. It was just perfect. Truly one of the best sports stories in my opinion topped off with the helmet catch and Eli escaping the sack somehow
Thank you I seriously appreciate it! I'm working on another video right now and have another ready to upload, I hope you enjoy them too when I release them this weekend or next week
Can we take a moment and think about how improbable it is that David Tyree was involved in 3 very important and memorable plays from that Super Bowl (The first TD, the almost interception, and the helmet catch). He was mostly a special teams gunner and the 4th or 5th WR on the depth chart. He had 4 receptions on 5 targets for 39 yards all season. In just the Super Bowl he had 5 target, 3 receptions, and 43 yards. He would get injured in preseason and never play for the Giants again. After that had one season with the Ravens where he played purely on special teams.
Yep! He was not known until the super bowl and he was Mannings favorite target probably in the game. Still a Giants legend based on the super bowl alone though. Great story and I think it was Flemlo who made a video on Tyree
I started watching NFL in 2002 with the Colts since Peyton played college where my family went to college. I remember being in Middle school in 2006 the Year the Colts won. Then during the playoffs I watched the 2007 Giants beat the Bucs then the cowboys then the Packers. While watching Super Bowl 42, I was legit praying that Giants would pull of the biggest upset. I then bought a Giants shirt, and bought Eli’s book and Plaxico B. Book as well.
Cowboys been choking a long time 🤣 All jokes aside this was an epic season I remember watching the Giants and the Patriots in the last week of the season I also remember that super bowl willd I'm not a Giants fan but that was something special 💯
Those two superbowl teams are favorite teams of all time. The most incredible stories in all of sport really; those teams are what NFL football is all about.
As a giants fan this was easily the top moment of my sports watching life. Derek Jeter's 3000th hit as a home run is up there as well but this was just sooooo sweet to watch .
Thank you for bringing back some good memories. I was in the U.S visiting family during the Super Bowl and our favourite team was the Giants. I was a little young and didn't understand the league at the time but still have fond memories about the energy my family radiated during the game.
I remember watching the game while on a livestream with friends, including three from Staten Island, it felt legendary in the moment. Funniest memory has to be my friend Nick who lived in Florida cheering louder than the entire New York group on seeing a dejected Brady.🤣
I Remember I was 12 years old watching this game I never gave up on my giants. I remember everyone in my 6th grade class they were all going for the patriots and calling me a loser and that the giants were gonna get beat really bad. I come to school that Monday morning I walked in with the biggest smile of my life I was humble about the victory but really happy seeing my favorite football team win when everyone else thought would we lose. I knew after we beat the cowboys destiny awaited. Eli manning will always be my favorite quarterback and I always believed in him even when things looked ugly I hope we see you in the hall of fame.
the mix of highlights and commentary is done really well. I appreciate getting to enjoy the plays of these big games while listening to the context that u provide!
What was so enjoyable about this run was watching Eli clearly outplay perennial injured choke artist Tony Romo. Eli had a 2 TD 0 interception 67% completion game and led a 4TH Q comeback. On the other hand, Romo had 1 TD 50% completion game and threw a game-ending interception. Dallas fans, I'll ignore all replies.
This was one of my favorite playoffs. It's interesting Giants got revenge vs 3 of the teams they lost to in regular season- Cowboys (twice), Packers and Patriots. I was hoping for a Favre vs Brady Super Bowl but Giants played great. Favre threw that stupid INT in OT but Packers were lucky to still be playing after missed field goals.
Love this. One thing that this whole video forgot to mention was that this was all done on the road. Beating all the playoff teams on their home fields was icing on the cake.
This video is well put together I remember this season like the back of my hand randy moss was such a superstar to watch and as much as you hated Tom you had to love him that season but the giants coming out of left field thru us all for a loop 😅😅
I wouldn't say underrated, how the Pats' perfect season got ruined has still be talked about. Maybe Eli's overall performance during the run was but I would call the SB underrated however.
I remember being a little kid and watching that game shitting bricks because the Giants were never good and all of a sudden they were facing one of the best teams ever

I was 5 when I seen this and I’ll never forget it‼️ this is what made me love football and the Giants ❤️💙
Great job on the story of this team. I liked the pacing, editing, and narration, highly entertaining. Look forward to more.
Thank you I seriously appreciate it! I'm working on another video right now and have another ready to upload, I hope you enjoy them too when I release them this weekend or next week
As a Cowboys fan, this was a hard season ending, but I've never been happier to cheer for the Giants than in that Super Bowl
Very respectable
Always nice when a giants fan and a cowboys fan can come together
The Helmet Catch was the final reception of David Tyree's NFL career.
I’ve heard this story so many times but it never gets old. Truly a timeless story in nfl lore
I remember watching these playoff games as a kid & to this day some of the best games I’ve ever seen
Cowboys been choking a long time 🤣
All jokes aside this was an epic season I remember watching the Giants and the Patriots in the last week of the season I also remember that super bowl willd I'm not a Giants fan but that was something special 💯
The best part of it is for as incredible as a run as it was, they did it again!
Haha might have to cover that 2011 team too!
One of the most incredible playoff runs ever, especially for Giants fans.
And dolphins fans🤣
I was 7 years old but I can remember the whole playoff run like is was yesterday, I was into football since I was 4-5. Gotta thank my pops for that 🐐
Lucky you
As a Giants fan this season was just so satisfying hard to care the same way after this one, it was perfect.
I miss the clip of Tom laughing that the Giants said they were only gonna score 14 points 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those two superbowl teams are favorite teams of all time. The most incredible stories in all of sport really; those teams are what NFL football is all about.
Not a giants fan. Was a colts fan at that time. This was a Super Bowl I still remember as a kid. Man this was an awesome game to relive
One of the best super bowls in my opinion for sure
You did notice Peyton cheering on Eli in the luxury suite, right?
@@jonahfalcon1970 I did not actually lol.
No season will ever top this. It was the perfect story, worthy of a movie.
This game was insane
7:08 new kickoff rules means we’ll never see these iconic shots again in a SB
I remember watching the game while on a livestream with friends, including three from Staten Island, it felt legendary in the moment. Funniest memory has to be my friend Nick who lived in Florida cheering louder than the entire New York group on seeing a dejected Brady.🤣
My favorite play of all time the famous helmet catch it was absolutely beautiful to see.
Greatest play of all time!
without question!
Haha i'm glad you got to have the last laugh!
the mix of highlights and commentary is done really well. I appreciate getting to enjoy the plays of these big games while listening to the context that u provide!
Thank you! I have a similar style of video coming out hopefully the day after the Super Bowl and I hope you like my other content :)
Dallas fans, I'll ignore all replies.
such a beautiful memory, I will remember this for the rest of my life.
That's a great point. Can't believe I didn't catch that!
Not to mention a questionable holding call on Snee that negated Bradshaw's TD run.
This was unreal to watch as a Giants fan and damn I forgot how good Toomer was
One of the unsung heroes on that team
Love this. One thing that this whole video forgot to mention was that this was all done on the road. Beating all the playoff teams on their home fields was icing on the cake.
I didn’t directly state that all their playoff wins were on the road but yeah that was ridiculous. Road warriors
Bro thank you for your amazing video, you almost made me cry XD, this NY Giants were the ones who made me love this sport as a child 🛐
Haha thank you! That’s the beauty of football
This video is well put together I remember this season like the back of my hand randy moss was such a superstar to watch and as much as you hated Tom you had to love him that season but the giants coming out of left field thru us all for a loop 😅😅
As a giants fan this was amazing to see, look foward to more too
Haha glad you enjoyed it! New video should be coming out potentially tomorrow or within the week
I don’t even like football but man you got me invested, and I’m a sucker for underdog teams. Great job bro
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Giving football a chance was one of the best decisions i’ve made, hope you stick around
Most underrated super bowl run of all time ,Eli never and this team never get enough respect 💯
I wouldn't say underrated, how the Pats' perfect season got ruined has still be talked about. Maybe Eli's overall performance during the run was but I would call the SB underrated however.
Amazing video this does a good job of really trying to understand how big of an upset this was
Thank you!
I remember being a little kid and watching that game shitting bricks because the Giants were never good and all of a sudden they were facing one of the best teams ever
Yooooo not bricks 😂😭
3:38 goatee celebration
I recently started paying more attention to football as a Giants fan and this last season was insane to me. I don't think I would have survived seeing 2007 lol
Haha you probably would have gotten a stroke while also feeling on top of the world watching that 2007 season
@contextsports49 those games that year were heart stoppers and and toe curlers
Great video!! I was shocked you only had 298 subs. So I subbed and liked the vid. Please keep up this great work. Take time on your videos and make quality content like this one and not quantity content.
Thank you, I started this as a new channel! Definitely, I am working on another video tonight and it should be out by monday. Hope you stick with me :)
I remember watching the game against the Cowboys. Loved seeing the Cowboys lose. I was born and raised in TX. Growing up, I was an Oilers fan. When they moved on to TN and rebranded. There was no way I was going to be a Cowboys fan. Literally can't tell Cowboys fans nothing in TX. Anyway, ended up moving just South of Arrowhead in my teens and been here ever since. It has worked out quite well for me as a Chiefs fan over the years. Took almost 2 decades. Worth the wait lol.
Nice video. My favorite play of that game was the sack on Brady on their last set of downs. Wish you included that one as it was the exclamation point on the Giants pass rush that day to seal the win.
Ah I thought about it but cut it due to time! Didn't want it to be too long
Still bring tears to my eyes 🔴🔵
underated channel
Thank you! Hope you stick around and enjoy the content in the future!
I swear kevin boss was so great that season. He made clutch catches and great blocking. That team had alot of unsung heroes from boss to smith to toomer. That offensive line was great too hence why that 1 2 punch of jacobs and bradshaw was great
Clutch plays defined the Giants in their run for sure
Great video very well put together
Thank you I appreciate it! I hope you enjoy the other video I posted and the content i'm working on in the future
SB42 was the greatest sporting event I ever witnessed. Just an amazing underdog story.
You're unbelievably lucky to have seen that. Wow. Very jealous and it is the definition of an underdog story
I was at that game live
Yes but you need to check out the ranger 94 Stanley cup run
It’s truly amazing the amount of amazing plays ruined by the horrible announcing of Joe Buck dude is absolutely comatose
The first time I ever had alcohol was when I was 10 , watching this game with my cousins. Multiple bottles of champagne were popped that night and I drank more than a couple sips hahaha
I still get giddy watching these plays. Amazing memory as a kid
Haha that sounds like something you’ll never forget because of the game and the celebration
As a Vikings fan I’m used to not seeing my team win a Super Bowl (😂) but that catch was the damndest thing I’d ever seen when it happened. Still is.
Adding the highlight segments with no narration is fire keep doing that lmao no one else is
The other video posted sadly does not have that and the next one doesn’t either. But i’ll keep this comment in mind for my next script!
Great Video
What a phenomenal video. Well done
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the other videos live on the channel and stick around
@@contextsports49 keep goin, got my sub! Way to start your RUclips channel with a bang.
Eli Manning has made some of the nicest throws ever
Yo I forgot about that TO “that’s my quarterback” interview hahaha.
Also that Tyree catch was insane.
Yeah it happened after they lost to the Giants haha. Best play in NFL history if you ask me
And four years later, they did it again.
Not really a Giants fan, but I'll never forget how good of a game Plaxico Burress played against GB in that NFCCG. He was a big body targert, and in such a cold game where its hard for an entire unit to execute, they matched him up one-on-one in the boundary and got open making several key catches. #17 and RB #44 willed the Giants to victory
Thank you for the memories!
HUUUUGE GIANTS FAN HERE. GREAT VID.
Whats really sad and dumb is now a days The CATCH probably wouldn't happen cause it would have been blown dead as soon as Eli jersey stretched, or more likely as soon as he disappeared in to the pile. Smh.
Thank you I hope you enjoyed and it brought back great memories! Oh it definitely would've been blown dead but i'm glad it happened back when football was more football haha
This is the only game I remember as a kid. Like remember remember being a giants fan, absolutely insane. This current season is the first time in a very long time I've had an enjoyable time watching them progress into the playoffs
What a game to remember and one you'll never forget about. Hey who knows this might be a new ERA for G-Men football
Nice video bro , new sub
Toomer went off during this playoff run it seems like 😂
Giants fan here that was great work and great memories for me.
Thank you! And absolutely a great memory
@@contextsports49 if you ever wanna do some work together for a collab I'm happy to help you.
Great video. The editing, the voice over, clips, everything. Keep up the great work
Appreciate it! Hope you watch my next video coming out within the next week
I’m a Joe Flacco Megafan and I love that he is show as “improbable teams” ahaha!!! Love u JOE!!
That fake Lambeau Leap at 5:17 was hilarious
He got us all haha
This was my first ever sports bet, first season of getting into football, and what made me fall in love with this sport
A true Cinderella story.
