The fact that the Chargers’ worst season in 2000 and best season in 2006 were only separated by 6 years shows just how much LaDainian Tomlinson breathed life into that franchise. Truly the best runningback since the 2000’s.
Archie manning actually had his best statistical season in 1980, with the interesting quirk of his career being that he was always at his best when his team was at their worst.
There is no way in HECK the 98 team was better than 16. The defense maybe... but overall... no. In 98, they had no chance to win. They should've won in 16
@@iconpoet The '98 Falcons should never have been in the Super Bowl. Gary Anderson CHOKED. And they had zero chance to beat the Broncos in Elway's last game, even if Eugene Robinson doesn't solicit an undercover cop the night before.
The 98 squad went 14-2, 8-0 at home, had a great offense and defense, pro bowl qb, all pro running back, and a couple defensive stars. Definitely better overall than 2016. Terrible defense
2016 team was special. Their record was misleading they easily could’ve been a 14 or 15 win team that season… definitely the best squad in team history imo
Some interesting takeaways: -1998 was a good year for several teams. -Surprised Bret Favre still holds this winning distinction over Aaron Rogers -Take your pick with the 49ers! -The Ravens' worst season wasn't as bad as everyone else's. -The Jets' best season was so long ago...
15:56 Don't forget Jake Reed, who had 4 straight 1,000+ yard years from 1994-97 and contributed almost 500 yards and 5 touchdowns in just 11 games in 1998, as well as Leroy Hoard, who ran for 9 touchdowns in the same year.
The crazy thing about the 1971 Bills is, that was *AFTER* they drafted OJ Simpson. 1968 was the year the Bills won the first overall pick in order to get OJ, pretty much the most hyped runningback there's ever been, and three years later despite his help they're STILL horrible.
The Bills blew the #1 pick in 1972 on Walt Patulski. They could have drafted Franco Harris and had the most unstoppable backfield in football history, or traded O.J. for a king's ransom. If Buffalo was dead set on drafting defense, there were better picks in Willie Buchanon and Jeff Siemon.
@@DNSKansas Patulski's problem was he was coached by Lou Saban, rather than say a Chuck Knox or Bud Grant. Saban didn't know how to get the best out of some players. But, really why draft a RB when you've got OJ, and a decent FB in the late Jim Braxton.
@@FinancialClout the 68 bills beat the super bowl champ jets, in a a game that was like super bowl 3 before super bowl 3 happened that year, a game won by the jets
In 1992, the Seahawks worst season, there was a lone bright spot. HOF DT Cortez Kennedy won DPOY despite being on an otherwise awful team. Gotta show one of the greats some love.
I would love to say that the Bengals 2021 season would be the best, but Burrow threw away the game at the Bears, an 11 point lead evaporated at the Jets, they spotted a 24-0 lead to the Chargers, and got swept by the Browns. Plus the field goal fiasco against the Packers, an overtime loss against the Niners. And allowing another late 4th quarter touchdown in a Super Bowl, this time to the Rams.
@@huncho5005 Yeah because it's the defenses fault that in that Bears game Burrow threw back to back to back picks. One of those being a pick six. Don't blame the defense for the fact he threw the game away
The Packers best season was actually 1962. Under Vince Lombardi, they finished the regular season 13-1, and then won the NFL Championship for a superb 14-1 record. Their only loss that year famously took place on Thanksgiving Day against the Lions.
@@BoogalooBartholomew 1964 probably would have been the best for the Cleveland Browns beacuse that was the last year that the Browns ever won an NFL championship.
Thanks for another brilliant retrospective boss. This was put together very nicely. As a 49ers fan 2004 was incredibly bad, but I do think that the 1978 season was probably the worst in franchise history due to all of the chaos that was going on behind closed doors with GM Joe Thomas as the maestro. Even though the very next season under fist year head coach Bill Walsh was the same 2-14 record, the experience was miles better from all accounts. As for the best 49ers season I go back and forth between 1984 and 1989. Both were all-time NFL masterstrokes. Anyway, can't wait to see what you choose to spotlight next. Cheers NFL Throwback!!!
My dude respectfully as a Bengals fan that 78 season was a blessing because it led to The drafting of Joe Montana and thus u beat us in 2 Super Bowls lol but in my opinion that 89 49ers team was the greatest team in history and I mean better than 72 dolphins and 85 bears and 2009 Saints
Steelers best: 1978 (14-2, had NFL MVP Terry Bradshaw, won Super Bowl XIII) Steelers worst: 1969 (1-13, got to draft TB12 with the first overall pick in the 1970 draft)
@@fromthehaven94 No. I’m not old enough to remember watching the Steelers win a Super Bowl. I want to see them win one now that I’m old enough to understand what’s going on.
Worst two year stretch in modern NFL history. The Buccaneers went 2-26 in consecutive years (76-77) as did the Oilers (72-73), the Lions went 2-30 (08-09), the Rams went 3-29 (08-09) and the Bills went 4-28 (84-85).
@Marcus Middleton no dude that browns team was horrible minus 28 in the turnover battle bottom 5 in both offense and defense and went 1-15 the year before lol to go 1-31 over 2 seasons lol
The fact that the Ravens' worst season still had them win 5 games, while almost everyone else had at least one 0-2 win season, does give a weird kind of comfort.
There's a problem with calling the Ravens a newer team. It's actually the Cleveland browns that are a newer team. The Baltimore Ravens are the results of the Cleveland browns moving to Baltimore and becoming the Ravens in 1996 so actually the Cleveland browns are now a team that began in 1999. Just for some reason for the sake of confusion they decide to count the old Cleveland browns history to the new Cleveland browns history even though the Baltimore Ravens are the result of the old Cleveland browns moving to Baltimore which would mean that the Baltimore Ravens should have the old Cleveland browns history. Honestly if Cleveland really needed to have a team back I just wish they would have picked a different name so none of this confusion would happen
I think 2011 was the Packers’ best team ever. They had a 19 game win streak going back to the year prior and just killed everybody. Then they rested their starters for 3 weeks and got killed by NY.
On paper they were better at 15-1 but the defense was horrific in comparison to the elite defense in 1996, and they weren't dominant in the playoffs like that season either.
I actually went to the Dallas Cowboys one win game. You could buy tickets anywhere cheap ! The stadium was so empty I moved to the front on the 50 yard line. The cheerleaders wore new outfits that day as well if my memory is correct. It’s the onlY NFL game I’ve ever gone to.
2004 Pats were much better. Dad a much tougher regular season & postseason schedule. They defeated the offensive jugurnaut Colts with league MVP Manning, the 15 win Steelers and the best Eagle team of the early 2k's. 2016 team defeated a 9 win Texans team, a nothing special 10 win Steelers team and had to overcome a 25 point deficit to win the Superbowl.
I honestly think 2016 Brady was the most dangerous he's ever been. He more to prove than he did since he was a young player, only in 2016 he had a far better skill set and experience. He was incredible in his 12 regular season games and found a way to win in the playoffs even if he didn't have the best games overall. I mean, the Pats D deserves insane credit for shutting out the explosive offense of the Falcons in the last 20 minutes of the game, but that entire team played with incredible poise, led by a Brady who was unphased by the score and played almost perfectly beside a few throws, most notably the one Edelman caught that should've been picked off by Alford. I don't think 2004 Brady would be able to compete physically or mentally at near the level of 2016 Brady, and with the supporting casts pretty equal, having an above average supporting offense and a top 10 defense, I can't see 04 Brady beating out his older self.
coming from a lifelong pats fan who has watched every one of their games since 1995. there was something different about those 03 and 04 Patriot teams. They were not flashy at all, would just barely beat last place teams by a FG but legit even in games like those, there was never any doubt they'd win the game. I mean maybe with 2016 NFL rules the 2016 Pats might be able to win, but that 04 Pats team might be one of the top 5 teams in NFL history
If we're talking about the worst seasons of all time, there are a couple of seasons for the Cardinals back when they played in Chicago that make the 2000 squad look Super Bowl caliber, including in 1939 where they were outscored by over 15 per game, or the 3 year stretch from 1943-45 where they won just 1 game in 30 tries, the lowlight of which was 1944, a season where they were forced to merge with the Steelers and were outscored by 22 points per game and went 0-10. They were called the Crad-Pitts because they were walked over by everyone else.
17:27 The 2002 Bucs were the last NFL team to hold their opponents under 200 points in a season. With a 17-game schedule and offenses in charge, that might never happen again. Only the 2020 Rams and 2021 Bills managed to keep their opponents under 300 points in the past two seasons.
Post-2022 updates: It does feel like defenses might be rallying a little bit. The Bills and 49ers kept their opponents under 300 total points last season but neither of them was anywhere near the 200-point mark.
That 2002 Bucs defense was probably the single best pass defense of all time. They shut down 2 league MVPs during the regular season (Favre, Warner), gave Michael Vick the 2 worst games of his entire career, shut down another MVP in SB37, and scored more TDs than they allowed during their playoff run. Legendary unit.
Wonderfully done. I assumed it was Super Bowl era, even though the title didn't indicate it, as there were some teams with better and worse records prior to the SB era than those depicted here. Kudos.
Every NFL Team’s Best Regular Season: Arizona Cardinals: Atlanta Falcons: 2016 Carolina Panthers: 2015 Chicago Bears: 1985 Dallas Cowboys: 1992 Green Bay Packers: 2011 Indianapolis Colts: 2005 Miami Dolphins: 1972 Minnesota Vikings: 1998 New England Patriots: 2007 New Orleans Saints: 2009 New York Giants: Philadelphia Eagles: 2022 San Diego Chargers: 2006 San Francisco 49ers: 1984 St Louis Rams: 2001 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2002
You guys should change the title to "Every Teams BEST & WORST Season in the Super Bowl Era" because there are better options then shown in the video. For example Best Packers Team 1962 Packers (13-1) Won NFL Championship OR 1929 Packers (12-0-1) NFL Champion Worst Packer Team 1958 Packers (1-10-1) Best Cleveland Browns Season 1948 Browns (14-0) Won AAFC Championship Worst Dallas Cowboys Season 1960 Cowboys (0-11-1) Best Detroit Lions Season 1953 Lions (10-2) Won NFL Championship
Washington's 29.9 points per game allowed in 2013 is not nearly as many as they allowed in 1954: 36.0 PPG. (Ouch.) As others have said, this has a post-merger focus, 1966-present. Which does not mean it wasn't thoroughly enjoyable and fun to watch!
The 2005 Houston Texans were worse than the 2013 Houston Texans. The former squad statistically looked like they could have finished at 1-15 had it not been for that ridiculous fumble. Hell, I remember there being 0-16 speculation prior to that win. I attribute the 2013 team’s struggles to the sudden uptick in the strength of schedule, and the fact that the team was weaker than their record would suggest the previous season. On average, they surprisingly outgained their opponents in terms of yardage. The primary issue was that their quarterbacks were turnover machines that season.
I disagree with the Jets take. I would instead suggest the 2020 Jets. Even though I wasn't alive in 1996 to watch the Jets. I've been a Jets fan since end of 2016, the 2020 Jets was the worst Jets team in my life. The 2020 Jets started 0-13 and were lucky to win 2 games. The 2020 Jets were that bad that most Jets fans predicted that the Jets would go 0-16
I remember when they finally won and all people had to say was that the team was so bad that they couldn't even lose correctly, so they could draft TLaw
It’s a tough one but I agree with the 2004 pats. They were so dominant throughout and in the playoffs. 2007 was historically dominant in the first half but the second half and playoffs were a lot closer. I definitely think the pressure got to them a little. Either way how lucky we’ve been to be fans of the Greatest dynasty of all time.
You actually used my suggestion, Thanks! Edit: The Ravens started 07 4-2, they lost 9 straight then beat the Steelers at home in Brian Billicks and Jonathan Ogdens final game
It says something about the Ravens being (at the time of this post) the most stable franchise in the NFL when your worst season according to this list is 5-11 (you can make a case with their 1996 season because they were 4-12, but Ravens along Packers in the SB era are so far the only teams whose worst record hasn't gone below 0.250).
True, but the Ravens have a couple of advantages that helped them. One is that they haven't been around long enough to eventually go through a "dark age" like most of these other teams. The other one is that they had the benefit of not having to start their roster over from scratch in their inaugural season. They just relocated the Browns and already had a team of professionals put together. Still impressive though that your "worst season" was 5-11.
@@anthonypuccini1914 If you ask Ravens fans, the "dark era" was during that mid-2000s era before Joe Flacco got here. We had revolving door at QB and zero offense besides. Jamal Lewis, after a historic season, just went bust and we couldn't get it together. On top of that the defense had a lot of retirements and only the core stayed strong, but it was that defensive core that held them to that mid-single-digits wins.
@@anthonypuccini1914 When this video was published, the Ravens had played 26 seasons. I'd say that's plenty long enough to hit a sustained bad patch if it was going to happen. The New Orleans Saints' first 20 seasons were their most-notable one.
As a lifetime Broncos fan, I guess you are ignoring their back-to-back 2-11-1 seasons in the old AFL. They were so wretchedly inept back in the early 60s and the franchise almost left around 66-67 (not exactly sure, i was still in elementary school).. When the strike year came and they only lost 7 we didn't really feel all that bad. You were exactly right picking Elway's last season as the highlight though. Pretty easy choice
As a lifetime Packers fan the video got it wrong. The 1929 packers were 12-0-1 and the 1962 packers were 13-1 (with 10 hall of famers on it) Both better than the 1996 packers. The 1958 packers were 1-10-1 a miserable bunch that fired their coach and hired some guy named Lombardi at then end of the season. They also didn't didn't cover the Lions and Browns that won championships in the 1950's. I think the video needs to be renamed - Best and worst teams IN THE SUPER BOWL ERA.
@@brians7181 Exactly this. I'm getting tired of the nfl barely ever acknowledging the pre-SB era. The Packers and Browns have multiple best seasons to choose from with their history.
The broncos had some awful teams in the afl days. Denver was 3-11 in 1961, setting a modern era record with 68 giveaways, and the broncos were 2-11-1 in both 1963 and 1964
@@directorbeau to give you an idea of how bad Denver was, the broncos best record in their first 13 years was 7-7. The bucs made the playoffs in year 4 of their existence
I agree. As great as the 84' team was, the Dolphins had a chance to pull off a win. While in 1989, even John Elway admitted the only way to change the score of the game was if the Broncos stayed home. 1989 was also the year Jerry Rice started dominating defenses.
Man, as a bills fan, I get wide right being on here but did you really need to throw the "music city miracle" illegal forward pass in here too for the titans 😂 that hurt man, hurt real bad
As a Dolphins fan, I am glad to hear the team has the record for winning every game in that season. Regular season 14-0 and if you count the Super Bowl and the play off games then 18 or 17-0.
Bears fan here, just wanted to say I never get tired of seeing barry sanders highlights. If the lions were on one channel and almost anyone else on the the other channel you tuned into the lions game just to watch him and see what he was going to do. I was young but I'll never forget watching a few of his greatest plays. I was born after the 85 bears season so I can't speak on witnessing that greatness but I do appreciate them. Barry was the guy to watch in my Era even tho he was a rival. But damn out of all the randy moss highlights and not a huge highlight reel against da bears you gotta show that one. Must be a packers fan cuz he's got a huge highlight reel against the packers 😂
I'd put that 1984 Niners team up against any of the greatest teams of all time. They were 4 points away from being the greatest football team of all time.
Niners lost to the Redskins in the 83 playoffs and motivated them to 14-2 the next year Bears lost to the Niners in the 84 playoffs and motivated them to go 15-1 the next year Giants lost to the 85 Bears in the playoffs motivated them to 15-1 the next year GOAT teams that won the SB
Should have mentioned how the broncos best year was the final year in the winningest 3 year run in nfl history. (maybe just SB era, but who cares about before that outside of Cleveland, Chicago, Green Bay, etc) No team won more regular and postseason games in a 3 year stretch. Only loss at home was the first divisional game that shall not be named.
I love how fans of certain teams to make their teams sound better act like half the league history never happened. You know damn well if your Broncos were in the league in the 40s or 50s and won a few championships you wouldn't say they don't count.
@@PowerPackers90 try and keep up, sparky. Never said they didn’t count. I specifically said that people outside of those cities (and fan bases I guess I should clarify given your apparent reading comprehension difficulties) don’t CARE.
Don't worry dude, my Steelers have also had a couple of embarrassing home playoff losses against the Jags. At least your '96 squad cashed in the next two years!
The 1972 Eagles won both of their games by ONE point, one of them vs. the 1-13 Oilers. All the points in their 18-17 win at Houston were on Tom Dempsey field goals. Somehow, Philly also beat the Chiefs 21-20 at Arrowhead in the first Andy Reid Bowl, and the last until 1992.
30:24 proof that the NFL doesn't consider the pre-merger era as a part of their history. The Lions won 3/4 championships during the 1950's. 1991 was a great year for the Lions, but it was far from their greatest.
might be worth mentioning that that 1990 patriots team only scored 4 rushing TDs, and had 29 scored on them, which may or may not still be the worst ratio of all time. thanks for the vid
@@DM7817 but you have to take into consideration everything that happened in 2010...getting caught for videotaping the sidelines against the 49ers in London, how low the morale was across the fanbase, Josh getting fired before the season ended, key injuries to Dumervil, Champ Bailey, DT, etc...it was just a mess of a year...on the bright side it did lead us to being able to draft Von Miller #2 overall in 2011!
For the Eagles I'd argue that 2020 might have been their worst year. The whole team was absolutely decimated by injuries, we took Jalen Reagor one spot ahead of Jettas (Thank God he's gone), and Carson Wentz became a walking trash can. The only saving grace was brandon graham getting named to the pro bowl.
I'm not the oldest chiefs fan but I remember the worst years in recent memory. The dynasty we're in now still feels unreal. I still worry about losing games because I remember the dark times, so every win feels all the more special.
The 2017 season was honestly awesome, despite being pretty shitty for my Packers win the Rodgers injury and our 7-9 finish. Great playoff games, good story lines, even though Brady didn't deserve his MVP. And it was capped off with one of the greatest Superbowls, if not THE greatest, of the 21st century, where not only did Brady lose to give the Eagles there first win, but Nick Foles had one of the greatest runs ever as a backup. Just a great and fun season to watch. And no I'm not a Brady hater, I just won't ever root for him in the SB.
@@jcore0981 Oh man you're so right, Jameis Winston should've won MVP in 2019 too. 5k yards in 16 games with a worse supporting cast than Brady. Damn it's almost like cumulative stats don't mean shit, especially when you have the most stacked offense in the NFL and throw the ball 40 times a game. Try again :/ Edit: Brady had 32 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, hardly an MVP caliber season. His team was also stacked as shit so he really wasn't the most valuable to his team. Todd Gurley should've won for sure. He was the heart and soul of the Rams offense
@@hihunter7 I didn't say Brady should've won in 2021. And Brady also had 16 less fucking interceptions so that's a big fucking distinction. Just like Manning, people have a fucking hard on for giving them MVP's that they don't deserve. And just as cumulative stats don't matter NEITHER DOES PASSER RATING. Which is quite literally the ONLY reason he won. Cause he certainly didn't marvel with his stupid fucking diva drama and overhyped passes. At least Brady had 4000 yards in 2017 with a worst cast btw!!
this was a really good Super Bowl era video. Some teams just dont get their honors from the game prior to the Super Bowl era. The Browns was an actually dominant team prior and never has been since. couple of teams were monsters prior from what I remember. sadly wasnt alive yet that far back.
I don't get it to me if the season don't end in a winning a championship it can't be all that great how y'all going to pick a Cleveland Browns season that ended in John Elway getting his shine on but not Jim Brown in 1964 getting his shine on, hell, they got four chips to choose from. Yeah I know that was before they called it the Super Bowl so what they won a championship. None of this applies to the teams that have never won a championship.
"For every unforgettable season, there's another.. unforgettable...season... That fans want to wipe from memory" I'll even voice it in pleasing baritone
About that Steelers 1969 team... it was the first with the later-legendary Chuck Noll, and the final season before the AFL-NFL merger. Since the merger, the worst that the Steelers have ever gone was 5 wins, which occurred in the 1970 season, which meant 9 defeats, in the 14-game season of the time. The only other time the Steelers have had 5 wins post-merger was 1988, which garnered them the 7th overall pick that following draft.
If I recall, the Steelers have only had a handful of double-digit loss seasons since that infamous 1969 campaign: 1970, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1999, and 2003.
It’d be really cool to see a video of if there are any players on both the best and the worst teams. Like I’d imagine that the broncos probably had a decent amount of players on both bc the years were close, but I wonder about the ones where it’s like 8-12 years apart
Larry Ball was a linebacker for the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Mostly a special teams guy on that 17-0 team. He also played for the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
I would like to make a few suggestions: *The 2010 Broncos were absolutely worse (4-12); 1982 shouldn’t count since almost half of the season wasn’t even played. *The 2008 Chiefs went 2-14 that season as well; for the record the Chiefs seasons between went 4-12 in 2007 & 2009 whereas the 2011 Chiefs went 7-9 and the 2013 Chiefs went 11-5. *The 1984 & 1985 Bills were 2-14 in both seasons. *The 2011 Vikings also went 3-13. *The 2018 Cardinals also went 3-13. *The Packers in 1988, 1991 & 2005 went 4-12 in those seasons as well. *The 1994 & 2019 teams in Washington also went 3-13; by the way the 2019 team actually had a worse point differential. Fitting for that would be the last season they would be referred to as the Redskins. *The Texans in 2005 were also 2-14 and had a worse point differential as well.
Some of my (unprompted) opinions on your points: 2010 Broncos were bad and I agree they should've been selected over the strike squad. I understand the 2008 Chiefs were garbage along with those other years, but my goodness that 2012 squad was TERRIBLE. I have no problem with them being selected. Vikings did end up making the playoffs in 2012, plus they had Adrian Peterson. Packers had a lot of bad years to choose from. The Texans were awful in 2005, but 2013 will always be infamous due to them losing 14 straight games after two consecutive playoff appearances. They had a bevy of talent whereas in 2005 they only had a couple pieces such as Andre Johnson.
Giants caught lightning in a bottle in the 2007 playoffs. Needed to win their last regular season game just to make the playoffs. It seemed like the '86 Giants were destined to win it all at midseason.
I definitely concur that the 2004 Pats were the best of the 6 championship teams. Dillon pretty much ensured that if the Pats had the ball in the 4th quarter with any sort of lead, they were going to win. The ball control that team practiced helped the defense out so much. That is what they were missing during Brady’s most prolific years. They had good defenses in at least some of those years, but they used to score so fast, and the defense had nothing left by the end of the game.
Honorable mentions for worst season are 1982 Colts 0-8-1, 1960 Dallas 0-11-1, 1943-1944 Chicago Cardinals/Card-pitt (they merged in 44 due to not having enough players) going 0-20 over those two years, and the 1942 Detroit Lions going 0-11 (same franchise that went 0-16 all those years later). Now sure those ones from the 40's can be attributed to WWII as most of the players were off fighting the war but still even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Also the 82 colts were in a strike shorten season but at the same time they finished the short season with no wins.
Best and worst seasons of all-time, DURING THE SUPER BOWL ERA. There I corrected the title. The Browns best year was probably when they went undefeated in the AAFC in 1948. You can also go with the team that come out of the AAFC only to win the NFL championship in 1950 (5th championship in a row and the franchise was only 5 years old).

The fact that the Chargers’ worst season in 2000 and best season in 2006 were only separated by 6 years shows just how much LaDainian Tomlinson breathed life into that franchise. Truly the best runningback since the 2000’s.
Same with Andy Reid/Mahomes for the chiefs. 7 year difference
Cowboys did it in 3 years.

The rams only had four wins the year before their best season which is even better

2016 team was special. Their record was misleading they easily could’ve been a 14 or 15 win team that season… definitely the best squad in team history imo
That should have been named y’all’s worst year LOL😂
Some interesting takeaways:
-1998 was a good year for several teams.
-Surprised Bret Favre still holds this winning distinction over Aaron Rogers
-Take your pick with the 49ers!
-The Ravens' worst season wasn't as bad as everyone else's.
-The Jets' best season was so long ago...
But the ravens loss to the 1-15 dolphins that year 😂🤣😂
It would have been hilarious for the dolphins to be the first in nfl history to finish imperfect one season and prefect one season ever
The one Super Bowl win Aaron had, the Packers were the 6th seed. In Rodgers' four MVP Seasons, the Packers were a combined 2-4 in the playoffs.
Also the Dolphins are only NFL team in history to win a perfect season and the Lions, Browns, and Bucs have all had 0-16 (and 0-14) seasons
the ravens were a very knew franchise and only had like 20 seasons to choose from
15:56 Don't forget Jake Reed, who had 4 straight 1,000+ yard years from 1994-97 and contributed almost 500 yards and 5 touchdowns in just 11 games in 1998, as well as Leroy Hoard, who ran for 9 touchdowns in the same year.
@Fries Joe Kapp left after the '69 season. For the next two seasons, a great defense was wasted on garbage q.b.'s until Tarkenton returned in '72.
The stats for the worst seasons are actually hilarious

The crazy thing about the 1971 Bills is, that was *AFTER* they drafted OJ Simpson.
1968 was the year the Bills won the first overall pick in order to get OJ, pretty much the most hyped runningback there's ever been, and three years later despite his help they're STILL horrible.

The Packers best season was actually 1962. Under Vince Lombardi, they finished the regular season 13-1, and then won the NFL Championship for a superb 14-1 record. Their only loss that year famously took place on Thanksgiving Day against the Lions.
And their worst season was in 1958, when they went 1-10-1. They fired Scooter McLean and hired Vince Lombardi to race him.

The fact that the Ravens' worst season still had them win 5 games, while almost everyone else had at least one 0-2 win season, does give a weird kind of comfort.
they were one of the newest teams in the nfl
It is helpful that they’re a newer franchise but they have a great front office so they make some good work
There's a problem with calling the Ravens a newer team.
Fair, but the title does say Best and Worst “Season” not team. That’s why the Pats got their 2004 team featured instead of the 16-0 team
That game was over at halftime
@@OfficialBugBoi The refs even scored more than the Packers that day. That game easily could've been 51-6
The last sentence illustrates why the 2011 Packers team isn't in the video.
3:05 you could've also said the 2008 Chiefs. They also won 2 games and had an awful defense thanks to the big brained move of trading Jared Allen.

2008 didn't have the Jovan Belcher incident, which was not mentioned in the video. 2012 was the worst chiefs season by far.
At least trading Jared Allen got the Chiefs Jamaal Charles and Branden Albert!
The Chiefs best year was 2020, when they went 14 - 2.
Half of the 2008 team's losses were by 1 score. They played about as competitively as you could expect a 2-14 team to play
Ahh 2017… The year that the alphabet had more Ws than the Browns.
Their name had more Ws than their season
I feel like the 2016 Pats would find a way to beat the 2004 Pats. They had better skill players and a good defense.
2016 Pats defense feels overrated to me for some reason
Honestly Brady has just had an all star cast his entire career
coming from a lifelong pats fan who has watched every one of their games since 1995. there was something different about those 03 and 04 Patriot teams.

It is possible if the opposing team can only score less than 12 points per game.
@@aznpikachu215 That's not possible given the penalties that favor the offense.

Packers worst was 1958, 1-10-1
Washington's 29.9 points per game allowed in 2013 is not nearly as many as they allowed in 1954: 36.0 PPG. (Ouch.) As others have said, this has a post-merger focus, 1966-present. Which does not mean it wasn't thoroughly enjoyable and fun to watch!
another throwback banger just dropped! 🔥
My favorite meme from the 2017 season was:
The Alphabet officially has more Ws than the Cleveland Browns.
16:58 The quality on this 1968 game is crazy!
Strangest thing is that the 2012 Chiefs had five Pro Bowlers. Plus, the '55 Browns were just as dominant as the '85 Bears that year.

Dang right
It says something about the Ravens being (at the time of this post) the most stable franchise in the NFL when your worst season according to this list is 5-11 (you can make a case with their 1996 season because they were 4-12, but Ravens along Packers in the SB era are so far the only teams whose worst record hasn't gone below 0.250).
That’s what I was thinking. 5-11 on your worst day? Nice😂
If I remember correctly, they are also 1 of only 2 franchises to never have had the number 1 overall pick. (Denver is the other)
@@anthonypuccini1914 If you ask Ravens fans, the "dark era" was during that mid-2000s era before Joe Flacco got here.

Fun fact: The bears use to practice at a Wisconsin College during training camp, that school is the University of Wisconsin Platteville
Yo u know, for the Packers worst season being 4-12 is a testament to how good of a franchise they’ve been.
That's still a bad season
@@altacalifornia2580 I think the Steelers is also very impressive because they have only had 5 double digit loss seasons since 1972.

Oooo as a Packers fan you really should not be talking about deserving MVP. Cough 2021 cough
Try again :/
Edit: Brady had 32 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, hardly an MVP caliber season.
29:14 man just gave up after dropping the ball😂
this was a really good Super Bowl era video.
That fans want to wipe from memory"
I'll even voice it in pleasing baritone
This is outdated
Im surprised they didnt ignore how good the early 2000s Rams were until someone tanked the team to move to LA
11:52! Outscored playoff opponents105-23. 49-3 vs San Fransico & 17-0 vs Washington. Hat tip to Denver for managing to get 20 on them!
Let's br Peyton Manning saved the colts, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick saved the Patriots, while drew Brees saved the saints
I think we can say the lions best year is 2023-2024
About that Steelers 1969 team... it was the first with the later-legendary Chuck Noll, and the final season before the AFL-NFL merger.
@@jaxonwoods8181The 1980s were a dark era for the Steelers
It hurts he didn’t mention Paul Warfield for the 72 dolphins. He was a pro bowler for that squad and grew up in my hometown
Announcer, "1982 was the Bronco's worst season ever..."
Russell Wilson, "Hold my beer."
91 lions:👏👍 08 lions:😾😿😞😔😟😖😣☹️🙁😕😫😩🥺😢😭
Chiefs 2022-2023 is now officially their best season. Mahomes MVP, won their 2nd SB in four yrs
I would like to make a few suggestions:
*The 2010 Broncos were absolutely worse (4-12); 1982 shouldn’t count since almost half of the season wasn’t even played.
Some of my (unprompted) opinions on your points:
2010 Broncos were bad and I agree they should've been selected over the strike squad.
I know the Giants best record was in 86, but come on. Beating the undefeated Patriots is better than a good record could ever be.
He should do another one of these videos after the season ends.
As a Steelers fan i have to say that the Steelers went 15-1 in 2005
Honorable mentions for worst season are 1982 Colts 0-8-1, 1960 Dallas 0-11-1, 1943-1944 Chicago Cardinals/Card-pitt (they merged in 44 due to not having enough players) going 0-20 over those two years, and the 1942 Detroit Lions going 0-11 (same franchise that went 0-16 all those years later). Now sure those ones from the 40's can be attributed to WWII as most of the players were off fighting the war but still even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Also the 82 colts were in a strike shorten season but at the same time they finished the short season with no wins.
Just so people know, Jimmy smith went from a bust in Dallas to possible hall of fame in Jacksonville
As a chiefs fan, only 7 years between our best and worst seasons is the most chiefs thing ever
Lives in Michigan. Started watching football in 08. Became a Ravens fan and stayed one since
Not surprised to see 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns they were bad
What’s interesting is that the Browns & Lions were basically the Chiefs & Patriots of the 1950s.
