As a Padres fan he’s not worth anywhere close to 600mil. He was a clubhouse cancer and almost never had actual impact at the plate. THIS JUST IN: Ken Rosenthal reports that the Chiba Lotte Marines have signed Juan Soto for the equivalent of a USD$900 Million, 30 Year Deal. $450 Million deferred until 2055. Soto has packed his bags and is en route to the airport, but has made a small pit stop at a Burger King in Brooklyn.
Wherever he signs I'm confident the "no deferred money" will be an accurate prediction. My impression of Soto is that his priority is to squeeze the absolute maximum amount of money he can from whoever signs him without concern for whether that leaves the organization with enough left over to put a potential championship team on the field. Maybe I'm wrong and he'll surprise me, but I doubt it.

As a Padres fan he’s not worth anywhere close to 600mil. He was a clubhouse cancer and almost never had actual impact at the plate. His homers were almost always in blowouts and whenever the team needed a single to win the game he’d take a walk and we’d lose. this doesn’t even talk about him be in an absolute liability in the outfield and baserunning. Ask almost any Padres fan, hardly anyone misses him in SD.
