Baseball in DR is like what basketball is to the poor communities in the US. It’s worse in DR because there are far less opportunities and more poverty. As a Mets fan, as a Dominican, it’s a lot of money and I didn’t think he would sign with the Mets but I’m glad that he did.
Juan Soto is not baseball’s richest player. Shohei Ohtani is collecting around $100 million in endorsements every year + $2 million in salary + $680 million in 20 years.
Ohtani gets more per year but for less seasons, Soto will have more by the time their contracts end. Ohtani signed his contract at 29, since he spent several years in Japan, then his entry level MLB contract with Angels, then the big contract.
@@superslayerguy my owners probably won't hand out a contract like that again. They learned from the Cano mistake they made in Seattle. Hell we played better without him than we did with him. I don't want Soto in Seattle anyway

My friend and I collectively agreed that’s it’s good that have a high ceiling when you operate a team but sometimes you have to be realistic. The Yankees have done a better job this offseason than any other team, I’m not a Yankees fan. Key points for the Mets this off season is getting pitcher rotation, bullpen depth and your first baseman, however they went for Juan Soto and luckily got Sean Manaea, Frankie Montas, and Clay Holmes, however there are still good bullpen arms Tanner Scott and Jeff Hoffman and for your rotation a Corbin Burnes and probably Roki Sasaki. The Mets could be if not more powerful than the Dodgers if they wanted to. Nowadays you buy a championship prime example Dodgers and Rangers, there’s only a few lucky like the Braves that it’s a really good investment. I’m happy that Juan Soto got an amazing paycheck but having him is a luxury for how expensive he is those 765 million could have made you a better team if invested correctly.
Are the Mets thinking of making Soto their main dish? I get the feeling he doesn't have enough power. In the National League he'd only hit 35 or 36 home runs.
“High school dropout” is incredibly misleading considering that those high schools are player development schools whose sole purpose is getting the players to sign at age 16.
Considering he isn’t a great fielder but can hit. Ohtani can run, pitch, hit and he is only worth 700 million. 765 million dollars for a DH/Outfielder is not worth the money. Also it hasn’t gone through yet. So they possibly haven’t gotten him yet. Also he can’t hit more than 40 home runs Aaron Judge can hit 60. He isn’t worth the money he should be 500 million to 600 million but more than Ohtani is too far.
It’s for 15 years not 10 so the reason why it cost so much is because it’s another five years so really those extra five years are really only 65 million but yes once I can’t hit as many home runs as Aaron Judge pitches, but he also has an extra five years then so that’s why he has an extra 65 million because of those extra five years so really year to amount of money state show he’s making more
The problem is that He can’t field. To be quite literally honest defense is way more important than offense. You need the other team to stop from scoring the runs. Juan Soto cannot do that.
