    Stanton’s playoff run was magical man. His bat and Soto’s carried the Yankees to the World Series. It’s unfortunate for them that the Dodgers are monsters but so be it. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Just go at it again next year

    I think him playing 3 sports while growing up is a big part of his success. Considering the health issues he has had as a pro, I don't think he would have made it this far into his career without having a career-ending injury if he had hyper focused on baseball by doing the "travel ball" circuit that most kids who are serious about baseball do today.

    The worst thing about Stanton's injuries is that they are preventable, There is only so much you can do about joints to prevent injuries but muscles? Those you can keep from getting damaged. It's called stretching. My guess is that Stanton constantly lifts heavy and hardly ever if not never stretches (speaking of Martial Arts levels of stretching, not casual). Too many players have been doing this for years now and the result is hamstring, calf, and even oblique issues that don't have to happen.

    This reminds me of a time when I was in the 7th grade, playing Park League Baseball in Los Angeles, specifically in the West LA Fairfax District, at a park east of CBS Studios and the Farmers Market. This was back in 1984 or 85.
    After one of my games, I stuck around to watch another Pony League game over on the other end of tge park.
    I stood behind the home plate fence and witnessed this 6-foot 4 kid no older than 16 who crushed the ball so hard that it sailed over the 50-foot pine tree behind the 420-foot center field wall. I literally fell out of my cleats, laughing. 😂
    This kid casually trotted around the bases like it was no big deal! He was high-five-ing his teammates and they all reacted nonchalantly to what just happened 😂
    I’ve always wondered what happened to him. Did he make it to the Majors?
    Looking back, I realize that’s probably why about one-third of major league players hails from Southern California-we have some serious talent pools here.
    Why? Dunno. Great all-around weather?🤷‍♂️

    Talk about a bad contract, No team has wasted the amount of money the Yankees have on bad contracts,But they do have the most championships . They are gonna sign Juan Soto for some ridiculous amount and he will the new DH in about year or 2 years . Only the Yankees and Dodgers build their team around the DH . If the MLB owners would get rid of the DH and let pitchers hit they would save a fortune. Also we would get to see ohtani hig every fifth game and still get to see him pinch hit.

    He was a totally different player years ago. look at his plate approach and swing.
    But he’s still doing it successfully. You guys claim he doesn’t play the field.
    What did your boy Ohtani do, sit the bench and come up to hit. I don’t see him pitching much longer
    So be prepared for him to turn into a Stanton for 700 mill.

    Great video, but to say Stanton was underachieving at the rate in which you implied in 2013 is a little misleading I think. Yea it was a down year, but he still had a 131 ops+ meaning he was a whole 31 percent better than your league average hitter. That's pretty damn good any way you slice it. I agree with the defense and injury part though. Love the vids though and that is such a minor thing. I just went to baseball reference to see how poor it was in 2013, and it was still a pretty damn good season all things considered.

    • @collinl.3686
      @collinl.3686 Месяц назад

      also wouldn't a 69% sprint speed definitionally be above average for percentile rankings? 50 being average? that is 19% higher than league average sprint speed, I know your point was that he should've probably been playing the field in 2018 more often, and I agree, I just think the point would've been made even stronger if you had said he put up an even slightly above average, to a straight up above average sprint speed.

    Stanton has been instructed to not run as hard as he can, ultimately to run at half speed because the risk of injury is too great if he tries to run hard. Stanton is the least athletic player in the league, maybe ever. His approach at the plate is to swing as hard as possible just in case he makes contact. If not for Anthony Rendon Stanton would be the proud owner of the worst contract in baseball. Stanton is the very embodiment of everything that is wrong with how the Yankees have built their team = extremely unathletic, non versatile players with a lot of swing and miss under inflated long term contracts. Another Cashman and Steinbrenner fail.
