I'm a long suffering Mets fan and loyal subscriber. I really enjoy your insight. Having said that, they need Alonso back to protect Soto, we all know that. Give the Polar Bear 7 years at $26 per so he can finish as a Met and keep the AAV reasonable. In my opinion they do not need Bregman. Give Vientos a chance to see if he can do it again. You have Mauricio & Acuna in the system as well. Sad to say they probably need to see if they can trade Marte and perhaps gauge the market for McNeil if they are to sign a Santander and/or Winker. Remember they do have the aforementioned Mauricio & Acuna ready to roll. And of course, landing Sasaki would be a feather in the cap all the way around. Looking forward to seeing what transpires. Happy New Year!
Yeah 7/182 would get Pete to sign, I think. I don't believe Boras is the problem here, I think Stearns doesn't want to give him that long for that aav. Alonso wants to come back but doesn;t want to get lowballed, either. Right know the only offers from the Mets are the 7/158 he rejected before hiring Boras and the supposed 3/90 this offseason. I mean, 3 years for a guy who just turned 30 and even with the down 2024 has posted 53 hrs 120 rbi, 37/94, 40/131, 46/118 and 34/88 in his five full seasons is not a serious offer even with high aav. Not to mention that outside of 2019 when Conforto hit 33 hrs, he has had absolutely zero protection. When you got no protection you will get a lot of sliders further and further outside because they don't have to pitch to you. Look at Vladdy's 2021 when he hit 48 hrs.111 rbi, he had Siemen with 45/102, Teoscar 32/116, Bichette 29/102, Gurriel 21/84/ Grichuk 22/81, and Springer 22/50. Bichette hit 298 and Teoscar 296, and the had Espinal who hit 311. Since then Vladdy has 32/97, 26/94, and 30/102. Same six years in the league he has 160 hrs and 507 rbi to Alonso's 226/586. He's younger and has a higher average but he doesn't have the same power. I'm not saying Pete is better but he's not asking for 450-500 over a decade or more...If you gave Soto crazy money to get him here but you let Pete walk, Bregman isn't gonna replace that, and dude already rejected 6/156 from the Astros and he hasn't hit more than 26 hrs since 2019.
@@chingulin I think Stearns does not want to give Pete a contract for that length. It think that is all it comes down to. Overpay on AAV ... probably gets it done. Seven years? I don't see Stearns going there. I guess we'll see. I hope there is a compromise that gets Pete back to Queens.
Mazel Tov, Wardy! You EARNED it! Mets need Pete, not Bregman!!! The one thing that the Mets can offer is they already plan to have a 6 man rotation. It would be a media nightmare in NY, LA. SD seems like the right fit, but this could just be a feeler for the market & he could go back to the NPB as he’s giving up so much $ on the table & they need to bet on himself for SIX YEARS. He could have some regression & still end up with a senga-like year. Great content every day. Happy & healthy New Year, to ya!

I wish Pete Alonso had this much patience at the plate where he struck out 179 times this year, swinging at sliders outside in the dirt and choking all year with runners in scoring position in critical moments of the game. The Mets need to move on.
If they miss out on both and sasaki I'm sorry but sterns needs to be fired because that is absolutely intolerable and if all 3 are missed out on then even with Soto and Manaea this team is far worse than last year and that is inexcusable
@georgefehr624 I hope so and it better start with Alanso! But I guess I'll believe when I see it trust me I want to believe it but I just can't as it stands and it's depressing after the year they just had but they have followed it up with Soto and Manaea but we have lost much more. Tired of the dumpster diving sterns ways
Totally agree. I want and believe Stearns to be great. But besides Soto and Manea we’ve lost a lot of good free agents from Joc to Burnes. We still need 2 bats and 1 more great pitcher and time is running out
Some of the things I read concerning reports from Joel Wolfe. 1- Sasaki gave teams he met with an unspecified homework assignment to test their communication and analysis skills. 2- Sasaki is driving the ship and calling the shots. 3- Sasaki requested that no team include any of their players in the recruiting visits. 4- Sasaki is looking “long-term” with a “global” outlook, valuing teams he believes develop pitchers well. The Mets and pitching coach Jeremy Hefner have been complimented industry-wide for their ability to do just that. 5- Market size is not a factor.
I think if he really likes New York he's coming to the Mets. To shine on the New York stage is always a big factor and the Mets have Senga who has already shined on this stage looking forward to building on what he started (him and Senga can be a super sweet 1-2 punch for the Mets). The Mets most definitely have a big shot with Sasaki now with David Stearns, the new owner Mr. Steve Cohen, Jeremy Hefner (their 1 and only pitching lab), 1 of the best managers in the picture now; Mendy, Lindor (like the best shortstop in the game), Edwin Diaz (like the best closer in the game)...and now after they just made the biggest move ever in landing Juan Soto. And you already know how the Mets do when it comes to being family oriented. How well they can accommodate a player and his family. How much they have to offer the player in New York and with Citifield. And how much New York itself has to offer. With the Mets it's a big market but not a super crazy market if you understand what I mean. The Mets would only have japanese media for Senga and him and it won't be overwhelming. Senga has enjoyed the media and the media has enjoyed him. Sasaki can share that light with him. And he will have the challenge along with Senga to beat the top japanese horses from the Dodgers in Othani and Yamamoto and he can also have the chance to go up against Darvish who he looked up to. He can go up against the other japanese players aswell like Imanaga to prove that the Sasaki-Senga 1-2 can beat them. Just because he looked up to those players doesn't mean necessarily that he will want to be on their team. He might want to compete against them. All these thoughts I'm thinking tell me, until he signs, the Mets have a major opportunity. LGM 🔥⚾🔥
And all that without mentioning.... Oh yeah, and the Mets can also end up giving him the most 💰 in the end. I think that goes without saying. Because all the other things have more value but that plus getting the most money goes a very long way.
Sign Santander to play left-field...move Nimmo to DH (because of his plantar problem he hasn't even started running yet). Keep Vientos on 3rd unless they want to make him a permanent first-baseman and resolve the Pete problem one-way-or-the-other.

@@dashx1103 because of the Asian population and the presence of Ohtani and Yamamoto…two of Japans greatest stars. Considering Roki’s past history with the Japanese press, he might just want to minimize it
For all those who think that the dodgers don’t develop talent, here’s a list of former home grown players we’ve lost in the last five years: Eovaldi, Corey Seager, Yordan Alvarez, Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Pepiot, Beech, Buehler, and Yasmani Grandall 😢
Everybody mad a Pete but seem to forget if we didn't get Soto. Pete would've been getting a bigger contract. We not getting Soto if Pete's hr don't get us out that wild card game. He's not greedy he put his work in. You can't trade 40+ hrs for 40+ hrs
After the push for Yamamoto I've realized that Cohen's purse can only sway players so much, so I'm viewing Sasaki as a bonus to this off season if we get him. Also, I'm feeling like Pete is going to go elsewhere because he's trying to play hard ball with us after spitting on former generous deals.
I guess it is a perspective issue. Pete hit 53 HRs as a rookie and established himself as the top HR hitter in the NL. What was his reward in terms of contract? He earned well less than $1 million dollars in his next season. He's been the most prolific HR hitter in the NL since he debuted with the Mets. Now that he has finally hit free agency ... where for the first time he can get paid based on the "market" ... and people just want to dump on him for not accepting the contract the Mets offered. smfh
Pete and Bregs, I think. They counter-balance each other, bringing league-leading pop, underrated 1B defensive savvy, and power-hitting lineup protection for Soto, in Pete's case, plus smart contact hitting to all fields with 25+ HR power, Gold Glove defense at the hot corner, and WS experience with Breggy. It skews older in combined age (60) than I'd like, but at 30 neither guy is ancient (nor has their value ever included speed, so there's nothing there to lose). Love me some Winker, but I think there needs to be a balance of old and new, as well, to signal a fresh, deeply energized reset
@ they were also the best team in baseball (all of MLB) from May 31st until the end of the season Haters gonna hate, this Mets team will be good next year. I can’t wait
If the Mets get Pete and Bregman or Santander then that would be great, that would make them better. Not a winker fan, would rather give Mauricio a shot.
@@cooldude7821 I’m sure you said the same about Vientos few years back. I told all my friends he should be given a shot. He proved me right. I get the same eye test from Acha and Mauricio
We haven’t had issues in past giveaways in this format. Obviously people are going to spam, but that’s why I encourage others to do the same should it inevitably happen. I can also put a limit on time the chat has between comments, so I may differ to that too
If the LAD have such a great pitching lab, why are their starting pitchers always getting hurt? Granted, their BP is was good, but that won't hold up indefinitely. 0:25
I wantt nothing to do with Bregman unless he's taking a short term high AAV deal. Bregman's BB rate fell through the floor last season and I can't see him aging well whatsoever. Same with Pete, unless they're taking a 3-4 year deal, or a 4 year plus an option season, anything longer will be a disaster.
I mean, if he likes our pitching lab and he wants to be challenged why wouldn’t it be the Mets? If he joins the Dodgers and they win, so what he’s not gonna get the credit same thing with the Yankees he’s not gonna get the credit…. if he joins Soto in the Mets and delivers us the championship as our ace, that’s a huge step to becoming the best pitcher in baseball and one of the greats of all time
I think the Mets have a legit shot at Sasaki. If I had to bet, I'd bet on San Diego, then LA ... then the Mets. But I do think the Mets are in the mix. Sasaki could be a real game-changer if he lands in Queens.
1. Lindor, SS; 2. McNeil or Mauricio, 3B; 3. Soto, RF; 4. Guerrero, 1B; 5. Nimmo, LF; 6. Siri, CF; 7. Alvarez, C; 8. Yoshida, DH; 9. Acuna, 2B. Forget Bregman, we don't need him. Trade for Vladdy and take on the contract of Yoshida.
@cooldude7821 1. Otani is better than Soto, but Soto got more than Otani. 2. Soto will have much less value if he doesn't get the bat he needs in the lineup to force pitchers to pitch. 3. When an owner sets the bar to a new level, expect ripples. This is uncle Steve's doing. He'll have to shell out, or he will lose the bat he needs. 4. Don't think Pete and Scott don't see this either, or at least I hope they see the huge advantage that is swinging their way. With every power bat coming off the market, it gets better for Pete. Pay Pete! P.S. Wardy, you have a beautiful little boy and congrats on your milestone.
@@user-mr7fu8pi2l Soto makes 51/year. Otani makes 70/year. If Otani was 26 years old, he probably would have gotten a billion from LA. Mets definitely need a bat behind Soto. Worst case, put Vientos there for now. The lineup you see April 1st doesn't necessarily mean that will be the lineup October 1st. You can add players up until the trade deadline. Pete obviously wants more than everyone is willing to pay him. He will lower his asking price eventually. Unless Pete wants to go lose in San Francisco & watch his #'s plummet in that ballpark, who else is gonna give him 125-150 mil.
@@dashx1103 I think if Boras wasn't his agent, a deal would have been done already. Unless the Giants offer Pete some ridiculous deal that Stearns isn't willing to match, he'll be back in NY.
Why don't they just cut out The Middle Man,tell The Dodgers what they will offer Sasaki so they can sign him for it? We all know that is where it is heading anyway.
Wardy I have just one question. How does him coming to any mlb team now benefit him? He’ll end up being a “homegrown talent” for whatever team he lands on. Look at Pete Alonso he has given the Mets his prime years, and look at how that’s turned out for him. Anyone actually thinking in Roki’s best interest would advise him to wait the 2 years before coming over. Doesn’t mean he’s worth what Yamamoto got. Maybe 8 years $140Mil? Also Pete Alonso not only had more home runs but also more rbis than Bregman. So how is it smarter to give him a 6 year contract, and not Alonso?
Good job Wardy, probably won’t post this BUT we all know uncle Steve signed Soto. Why is Stearns getting a pass for being missing in action. Besides fake rumors he has accomplished NOTHING !
Why why pregnant keep Alonso he has been the most productive home run hitter in all the baseball and he actually scooped the ball better than anyone else
@@Bngstew Doesn't matter. Boras throwing all this Bregman smoke out there because his market isn't great. Mets ain't signing him. Rather take Arenados 3/45 contract on then give Bregman a 6/175 deal.

You mean a staff the performed better than expected. Teaching you to think a little bit here
David Stearns one of the best GM’s in mlb, he knows what he’s doing.
You’re just a dbag with a keyboard. Get lost
Chump
The Mets were 7th in the NL in team ERA last season, just below the Dodgers. (3.96 - 3.90).
@ they were also the best team in baseball (all of MLB) from May 31st until the end of the season
Haters gonna hate, this Mets team will be good next year. I can’t wait
If the Mets get Pete and Bregman or Santander then that would be great, that would make them better. Not a winker fan, would rather give Mauricio a shot.
But who is reporting that we are close to getting bregman
The mets need to get a solid arm for the pen.
Let’s go Mets
at this point i dont even care anymore. tired of all of it😂😂
Would love Alonso and Bergman.
❤❤❤❤❤yes!!
Rokie is going to the dodgers
What is alonso asking for ! Does anybody know ?
Mauricio can give you the same offensive stats to Bregman
3 stolen bases in 2024 and 42 in his career!! That’s bad
hahahaha no no no
This statement is ridiculous.
@@naeemTopG bregman doesnt steal bases, his defense is elite and his bat
@@cooldude7821 I’m sure you said the same about Vientos few years back. I told all my friends he should be given a shot. He proved me right. I get the same eye test from Acha and Mauricio
❤❤I want Winker Bregman and Pete !!!!
Bregman and Alonso
Wardy I feel like with the random comment selection process there will be people mega spamming the chat so will there be a kind of cooldown for chats?
We haven’t had issues in past giveaways in this format. Obviously people are going to spam, but that’s why I encourage others to do the same should it inevitably happen. I can also put a limit on time the chat has between comments, so I may differ to that too
Watch out for the Rangers on Sasaki.
Who wouldn't want to play on a team with the likes of Soto and Lindor, hopefully Alonso, who are future Hall of Famers
I think the Mets are going to get Sasaki. Always have!
Bergman, Wicker, Alonso in that order of likely, at least 2 and possibly all 3!
Who is Wicker?
@christianjmj6460 sorry i ment Jesse Winker!
@@dashx1103who is he?
@@christianjmj6460 That was the question.
If the LAD have such a great pitching lab, why are their starting pitchers always getting hurt? Granted, their BP is was good, but that won't hold up indefinitely. 0:25
The Mets will Land, Baty, you know him? he’s a third baseman out of Buffalo.
Happy 2025 Everyone. 🎉
with Sasaki its who does he know more , yamato/ohtahni or senga , that who he will go to , my opinion
Sasaki knows Darvish in SD better than anyone else in MLB.
Sasaki noted to not be fond of big markets and attention - he’ll go to a smaller market or he will go to a larger market and fold under spotlight.
anywhere but LA and I'm good with it for sasaki
Bregman, Alonso, and Winker would be best possible scenario. But bringing in Santander instead of Alonso leaves room for Big Vlad.
Pete is pissing me off ! Holding up the works !
its boris trying to get all the money he can
Wardy’s favorite word: plethora
Pete deserves his money, but Mets are hesitant. He may need to insist on 5 yrs at 140 - 150.
Deserving, wanting & getting are 3 different things. Freeman is hands down better than Pete. Not sure how he deserves more than him.
@cooldude7821
@@cooldude7821 There is plenty of room between what the Mets are offering and what Freeman got. They should find a meeting point. It just makes sense.
@@dashx1103 I think if Boras wasn't his agent, a deal would have been done already. Unless the Giants offer Pete some ridiculous deal that Stearns isn't willing to match, he'll be back in NY.
I think we have serious chance at Roki
Why don't they just cut out The Middle Man,tell The Dodgers what they will offer Sasaki so they can sign him for it? We all know that is where it is heading anyway.
Wardy
I have just one question.
Sasaki ain't going to the Dodgers he will come when he sees the Mets loading up for the kill
Sure, Soto and some scrap heap scrubs is real attractive..🥴😂
@@jerseygrit5402 I guess Lindor is also a heap scrub. 🤷♂
Hope we get Roki n Bregrem
Good job Wardy, probably won’t post this BUT we all know uncle Steve signed Soto. Why is Stearns getting a pass for being missing in action. Besides fake rumors he has accomplished NOTHING !
Why why pregnant keep Alonso he has been the most productive home run hitter in all the baseball and he actually scooped the ball better than anyone else
These Japanese players are soft!!! They want American dollars but keep their Japanese culture n comfort
I’d like to hear about the latest on trading for Vlad.
hopefully senga sold sasaki on the direction of the mets and the vibes ..he would be the ace here
Sasaki, Vladdy, Winker
Vladimir 2026!
The mets should sign Sasaki and Alonso
Give me Sasaki, Winker, a few relievers and trade for Vlad Jr and I’m happy. Again if I could see Jacob gone. I could see Pete go.
If Alonso won’t budge just get Bregman and Santander and we’ll be good
LMFAO Bregman is going to cost you far more than Alonso and is a year older.
We should go after Bregman and Santander because Pete wants too much money and I don’t trust winker to be the missing piece
I literally just saw that the Mets are unlikely to sign bregman lmao
Good. Makes no sense to sign a declining 5'8, 150lb 3rd baseman.
@ dude is 6foot 181 lmao. At this point with everything going on with Alonso I think I’d rather bregman
A Mets Insider said they're out, Bregman is heading to Detroit.
@ right which is why I’m confused about this video
@@Bngstew Doesn't matter. Boras throwing all this Bregman smoke out there because his market isn't great. Mets ain't signing him. Rather take Arenados 3/45 contract on then give Bregman a 6/175 deal.
The mets needs Pete and a pitcher
Lets sign Bergman now what are we waiting for
Ingrid Bergman?😂
Why give up draft picks and international pool money for Bregman?
